HARDWOODS BY VERHINE

About us

For over 60 years, the Verhine family has been installing and finishing hardwood floors. We have built a solid reputation as trustworthy contractors. We have managed to survive as a business by placing a high value on customer satisfaction. We use products that meet or exceed industry standards. We are very meticulous in our approach to each floor we install or finish. The primary difference that separates us from our competitors is the attitude that your house is your home not just another jobsite. We discontinued our new construction projects over 15 years ago, so that we could focus all of our attention on the remodeling sector. Because of this experience, we are more acutely aware of how our work effects the daily life of our clients and we strive to keep the disruptions to a minimum. From top to bottom, from clients to suppliers, we are considered to be fair, honest, expert floor mechanics.

It's a total transformation! The hardwoods make our home look and feel even more beautiful and updated. Mike and his brother were always on time which I found surprising considering this was a 20 day job. Mike held my hand (so to speak) through the whole process. Each step was explained and if I had questions or wanted recommendations, Mike would explain answers in detail. Mike also informed me of the timeframe of each step. The brothers were always professional, their work area was always cleaned each evening and all trash and debris  was hauled away. All our furnishings were carefully moved, covered and stored in our two car garage. My only suggestion is to be sure to check, double check, and triple check the estimated cost of the job. In doing the re-checks of the estimate you won't be shocked/disappointed in the actual cost of the completed job. Once again, we were totally satisfied with the quality, professionalism, punctuality and integrity of the craftsmanship.

I was referred to Mike by a contractor we were using. After quoting the job to five different providers, we chose Mike. He took the time to describe all of the details of the job he was about to perform and even went into details about the nuances of different types of wood flooring. While he wasn't the lowest quote we got, he was close to it and we could tell he was going to do a great job.
One side of our kitchen was about an inch and a half higher than the other. Mike and his crew spent several days leveling the floor by cross bracing the floor joists and it is now entirely level.
They both glued and nailed our hand scraped oak flooring to secure them and they are beautiful!
Mike and his crew showed up on time every day and worked until the job was complete. He is an engineer at heart and a really good guy.
I will use him again if the need ever arises and I've recommended him to several people.

They removed some of the old floor to make a rectangular area to patch, then installed new flooring to fill the space. They sanded the remaining floors, restained and finished it all to ensure a match between old and new and replaced the shoe molding in the room.
They did such a good job of matching the new wood to the old and matching the stain/varnish to what is in the rest of the house you can't tell where the new stops and the old starts. Throughout the entire process they kept us informed on what they were doing and what the next steps were.
Overall the entire process went quite smoothly. When a few minor glitches popped up, they took care of them immediately. I hope I never have to have any work like this done again, but if I do, they'll be the first I'll call.

The workmanship was excellent. The service was prompt. The quality of the wood was excellent. The cost was reasonable. They showed up on time and cleaned at the end of the day. They overcame many problems caused by my uneven floors. I cannot imagine any other company doing as well.

Verhine offers a greater selection and higher quality woods than the other vendors we contacted. Hardwoods By Verhine is family owned and operated. We felt very comfortable with them in our home. They gave careful attention to how their actions would affect our toddler, pointing out any dangers to us avoiding hazards where possible. The entire crew was friendly. It is very clear that Verhine is focused on quality and that no corners would be cut. The prep-work to ensure level floors took a third or more of their time. They discovered several areas where our home builder had done shoddy work and they corrected them without additional charges. They consulted us when they felt we would enjoy a say in how something was installed. Everything they did looks terrific. Although tile is not their specialty, I doubt anybody could have done a better or more thorough job. The final bill was less than the original estimate.
