As described above, once my refrigerator warranty had expired, some 3 weeks later my freezer defrosted and my frig interior flooded, just before Thanksgiving. all food was lost. Samsung offered a one-time extension of mfr. warranty and arranged for service on the refrig. In the meantime, I asked about extended warranty contract and they gave me tel. # of Samsung Extended Warranty Dept. On Nov. 28, 2011, I purchased ext. warranty by telephone, and my credit card was charged accordingly by My Samsung ESP. Was told I would receive contract w/in 30 days. Refrig. was serviced but has begun to malfunction again, due to defective coil design, which is the subject of a class action litigation in federal court as to several Samsung refrigerator models. Since purchasing my extended warranty by telephone on 11/28/2011, I have called the Samsung customer service dept., the Executive Customer Relations Department, and the Extended Warranty Department no less than 15 times in an effort to obtain the extended warranty contract that I ordered and paid for by credit card. No one has any record of the contract ever being issued. Each department says it is the responsibility of one of the other departments. Apparently extended warranties are sold thru an affiliate, AMT, and they have never sent any info to Samsung, so Samsung claims. No one has made any effort to follow up and determine the status of the extended warranty for which I was charged. Samsung is avoiding issuing the warranty, I believe, as they know they sold me a defective refrigerator that will require repeated service calls. If this isn't fraud and unjust enrichment, then it is outright "theft". 3 months later, still getting the runaround from all 3 departments. At least credit card company will reverse the charge, because Samsung never responded to their dispute inquiry. But that does not give me the service contract that I purchased in November, 2011. I have never been so frustrated by a company as I have by Samsung. DO NOT PURCHASE SAMSUNG. YOU WILL REGRET IT AS MUCH AS I HAVE! Update to above report: After 3 1/2 months of repeated telephone inquiries to Samsung and its extended warranty provider, AMT, that included over 20 telephone calls, I finally left this complaint on Angies List and filed a complaint with the FTC. But first,, I advised Samsung that I had no choice but to file a complaint, and possibly to bring suit in small claims court. The Samsung representative hung up on me while I was still speaking! I called back and finally spoke w/a responsive Samsung agent who pursued the matter on my behalf . A few weeks later, magically, I received not 1 but 3 copies of the appliance extended warranty contract that I purchased and paid for in November of 2011, of which there was no prior record with either Samsung or the warranty division that sold the extended warranty to me. I do not plan to ever again purchase a Samsung product. BTW, the 16 month old refrig continues to malfunction, with food spoilage and standing water in the vegetable crispers, despite 2 attempted repairs by Samsung's representative (the only Samsung authorized repair service in my area). Samsung refrigerators are apparently not reliable from all that I'm reading on the Internet.
Description of Work: Experience concerned purchase of a new Samsung French Door Refrigerator. 1. Refrigerator model has defective coil design and, among other Samsung refrigerator models, is the subject of a class action litigation in District Court in New Jersey, alleging Samsung covered up its knowledge of products' defective design, among other things, and continued to market the defective product. 13 months after purchase, my refrigerator experienced frozen coils due to design flaw, with loss of food on several occasions. The 1 year warranty had just expired, which leads to the next issue. 2. Shortly after the mfr. warranty expired, I purchased a 2-year extended warranty directly through Samsung at the customer service number provided by their website, who in turn referred me to their extended warranty department. I received verbal confirmation and my credit card was charged for the 2 year extended warranty.
