Veterinarians,

About us

Scenic Hills Veterinary Hospital was founded in January of 1980 in a double wide mobile home, which Dr. Strand converted for commercial use. Initially, the business was divided about 50/50 between pets and farm animals. The hospital grew rapidly, the mobile home was sold, the first brick structure was built and over the years three additional expansions have been added to the hospital. In 2001, we expanded our pet practice and discontinued working with farm animals.

Services we offer

Walk ins, Emergencies, Surgery, Spay/Neuter, Bathing, Nutrition, Boarding.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. THEIR NEGLIGENCE WILL END WITH YOUR PET DYING. I took my elderly dog here about 8 months ago and pointed out a small nodule on her nipple. The vet dismissed it and said it was a fatty tissue. This is after she repeatedly interrupted me while I was trying to voice my concerns about my dog's health. I took my dog back when the nodule got bigger. I was again interrupted while trying to voice my concerns, and was again told it was a fatty tissue. When I went back the third time it was suddenly something different, and she needed to be spayed and then they needed to do surgery to remove the growth. After the spay she was urinating blood. It was not until today that they FINALLY informed us that it is cancerous. Then told us we needed to find another vet to remove the growth because we obviously don't trust them. When I attempted to explain why I didn't trust them I was again repeatedly interrupted and told "We recommended spaying." What does that have to do with you telling me a cancerous tumor was a fatty tissue.

They are phenomenal. They are amazing. Their service was extremely amazing for a veterinarian in the area. They actually care about the animals they work with.

It was free because she was a rescue in a main society. They make sure that the service is for free. All her medication was free. The veterinarian was very good with dogs and they're open convenient hours. It's a fairly large facility so they have several working with them. I haven't had any major issues with my dog because she was only 18months old at this point so we haven't had lot of treat. I would use them again in the future.

We just adopted a new puppy about 2 months ago. We found Scenic Hills on Angie's list an they've been amazing. The vets are nice and the assistants are so sweet. I love that the cat and dog offices are separated. The only thing I rated low is the punctuality. I've waited for up to an hour before being seen before... but like I said, it's worth it. They do get super busy in the afternoons or on Saturdays. They helped me find my obedience trainer as well... who we love.

Easy and cheap. Never saw a vet that wanted to muzzle a Rottweiler though. I think he was more of a cat person.

They are a great vetrinary service. The vets are great at what they do and they have very reasonable prices. They have greats hours and seem to be open whenever you need.

Scenic Hills Veterinary are horrible. I brought my pets there just because their prices are low. I got sick of them and went somewhere else. They have a lot of veterinarians but they are new veterinarians out of school or veterinarians who have failed at other places. They would give my dog a shot of cortisone no matter what was wrong with him. I don't like that they don't let the owners be with their dogs if the dogs are getting any sort of procedures. I brought two of my dogs in one time and I told them specifically that the one dog needed her stitches taken out. They took both of them back there and it wasn't until that night at home that I realized the one dog still had her stitches in. So I called and asked them what did they do to her. They had drained her anal gland, which is what was supposed to be done to the second dog. That did it for me. I had enough of it. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.

Dr. Mark is really good. We had him with our one dog that passed away and he was good. We went to 9-mile road because it seemed to be little bit more reasonably priced. They have been good. We have one cat, we take it there, and they seem to be pretty good mainly when it gets sick or needs shots. We go to them on a regular basis and whenever it is time, they send us a card to tell us that it is time to go. I would recommend them. They have more than one doctor there; several doctors actually. Dr. Mark got a new building and the prices went up a little bit, but the place I go to is not fancy at all but it is nice enough. We take our pets in various things, so the price varies but it seems to be reasonable. When I go in, I don't have to wait too long, it is not that crowded but they do a good business. Somebody that went there recommended them to us. The vets seem pleasant and they seem to take whatever time they need. I haven't had too much interaction with them but whatever I have had has been good. The price is reasonable; at least it is not expensive. We go there because it is less expensive even though it is a little bit further away. If I call them, they talk to me and if I go, they would wait on me.

I began using this clinic after my dog had an emergency on a Thanksgiving about 9 years ago. He was subsequently euthanized as a result of his injuries. They were prompt and efficient in caring for him and their compassionate treatment of him AND our family was overwhelming. We have continued to use them for our other 4 legged family members. One of whom had a broken leg that did not heal correctly. They did a second surgery on the leg at no additional cost. They cared for another with cancer. There are several vets on staff and all are competent but we have our favorites and you can always request an appointment with a specific doctor. The ancillary staff are helpful and very caring. You sometimes have to wait a little while even with an appointment but no more than you would at your own doctor's office. Some patients take longer than others, it's the nature of the beast. Pun intended ;-)

They are very nice, great with the dogs, competitive prices, and I like their service. They are genuinely happy to see my dogs, which is always as plus.

The Doctor that saw my Ginger was Dr Fouts and on a Sunday which was an emergency day. I was so thankful that Scenic Hills Vet Hospital was open and able to take care of my Ginger. Doctor Fouts assured me that this was common with dogs and that Ginger had probably eaten something that she should not have eaten, he even told me that he had three dogs that were always eating something they shouldn't soothing my anxieties, he gave my Ginger some shots, while his assistant held Ginger, I later learned this was his wife...they make such a wonderful team. She even walked Ginger and I out to my car, truely a wonderful experience for my Ginger and me. They made me feel like I was the only person around with a dog to be seen. I will definitely go back there and leave the vet that I've been seeing because of the wonderful and personal care that I recieved.

He's a healthy dog so I just take him once a year for a check up. I'm happy with their service. He's never had any problems, but my niece was here and her dog got overheated. We took him to Scenic Hills Veterinary Hospital and they took very good care of him. It might have been in September because it really wasn't all that hot. We put him out in the yard and he just got too hot so we took him to the vet. They kept him overnight. They charged us around $500. When I take my dog for his annual check up, it's around $300. It's fairly expensive. They are a little high, but they do a lot of things during his annual visit. They draw blood and all that kind of stuff. The dog gets a better check up than I do when I go to the doctor. I use another veterinarian service and he's a little cheaper. I board him there and they give him a shot to prevent him from getting the illness from any other dog he comes in contact with. I don't get that shot when I take him for a general check up. If you are a dog lover or an animal lover, you put out the extra money hoping you are getting the extra care. Since my dog has never been sick and he's 13 years old, I would say that they have done a pretty good job with him. They have a lot of dogs and they have a lot of business so they are a little bit slow. I would continue to use them in future.
