We brought our clock to Reed's last October (2012) for general repair and maintenance. The clock is very important to us because it belonged to my mother. The clock had never been serviced and was long overdue. Also parts had been dropped causing damage. People at Reed's told us that it would be 3-4 months (6-8 weeks of that time for the estimate). The service did take a tad longer than we planned BUT we have the clock back and it is in fine working condition. Reed's did an excellent job

I made my first inquiry 8 months after drop off. I was told it would be 2 more months. I called again 11 months after drop off. It was not ready. I visited the store and was told a clock maker quit and my clock was not ready. I called again 1 year after drop off. Not ready because everyone was "out with the flu". This went on & on. My phone calls were not returned, I had to pester them. Every time I did get in touch with them, it was another excuse as to why it was not done. At one point they said they had to rebuild a "pivot". I called again 18 months after drop off. This was 09/2011. I was told the work was completed, it just needed to be assembled and would be done in mid October 2011. On 10/18/2011 I went to the store to pick up my clock. It was not done, they said it just needed to be assembled. I was told it was not done because everyone was "out with a sinus infection". At this point I demanded by clock back, even if it was in pieces. That is what I got. They still charged me $252.63 for work completed. Based on an appraisal from another clock maker, at least all the pieces were there. I reported them to the BBB. I requested a refund. They said no. The BBB case was closed unresolved. I subsequently took it to another clock maker. None of the work had been done. The pivot was still broken. The bushings were not done. The only thing completed was that it had been taken apart. The new clock repair facility showed me the areas that were not done, & explained how it should have looked if the work had been done. And this was the second clock he had received in pieces due to the poor work from Reed's clocks. This place is also a jewelery store, so buyer beware.
Description of Work: I dropped off my Junghans Sring T.S. Vienna antique clock for repair. The clock had stopped working but was in otherwise good shape. The store was clean & professional looking. I received a written estimate and a time frame of 8-10 months to repair.
