I should have written this review sooner. Perhaps it will help future buyers. In May 2013 I decided to purchase a new Honda CRV. The sales person was great and very helpful. It was the manager's attitude that was terrible. It took forever to get an offer for my trade in. When the offer came in it was $2000.00 below book value. Honda makes an excellent product. It is always highly rated by consumer's reports. The popular models sell fast and they know it. So, I was treated like if you don't like it you can leave. The sad part, I was paying cash. So, when they offered another $1000.00 for my car if I financed it through Honda they seemed surprised when I refused. The sales woman even suggested I finance it for the extra trade in money, and then pay it off early instead of paying cash. When I told the manager that this was not enough and I would leave he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I wanted the vehicle, so I went to Frontier Motors and they bought my car for the full book value which was an extra $2000.00. They did not have a 2013 CRV on their lot, or I would have shopped there. I returned to the Honda dealership and signed a contract to buy the CRV. They kept me there until after 7 p.m. I started out at 8 a.m. test driving the CRV. It was exhausting, but the sales woman did her best to help, but they aren't letting you go without trying to sell you a very expensive extended warranty. I thought this was unusual, until my friend who had a 12 year old Honda she bought new from this dealer, went to trade it in and buy another Honda. They kept her there all day too. They played the same low ball estimate on her car, which was in like new condition and only had 54,000 miles on it and had only been serviced there. She went ahead and accepted the offer because being in her 70's they had wore her out. So, you may want to look somewhere else, if possible for buying a Honda. I only had my car serviced their once, and it was uneventful I purchased a tire servicing plan from Vannoy's Tires the day after I bought my car. It was very reasonable and covered free flat repairs and free lifetime rotation and balancing of the tires. So I had that work done outside of Honda. The car was great. Honda does make a quality product. It's the "you have to buy from us" attitude that causes me to write this. I traded the CRV in on a Ford Escape at Frontier Motors. I needed more leg room in the front. Please read my review of Frontier Motors.
CRV from Pensacola Honda in May 2011. I have been very happy with the vehicle
and I have had all of my maintenance service work done at Pensacola Honda. I
have been happy with the service department. So when I was in the market for
another vehicle I faithfully returned to Pensacola Honda. I found a used 2010
Honda Civic on 09/10/14 that had just come on to the lot and I made an
appointment to look at it and drive it that evening. I liked the car so I asked
my salesman to give me a buyers order to take to my credit union for financing.
I was approved for the loan the next day 09/11/14 so I called my salesman to
make an appointment for that evening after work to get the car.
I got a phone call about 30 minutes before my appointment to
tell me the car was sold. I couldn’t believe they would sell the car out from
under me or treat a loyal returning customer that way. I was very upset and
asked the salesman to have a manager call me, after almost 2 hours with no
phone call, I drove to the dealership and was told my salesman had left for the
day. I told my story to the Sales Manager who replied “first check in the door
gets the car, we don’t hold cars for anybody”. I am still stunned by this
cavalier attitude towards customers.
I highly recommend you avoid this dealership at all costs. I
know I will never set foot on their lot again.
On another occasion, I took my SUV in for warranty work. I had to come back immediately because they left a service light on. They quickly turned my frustration around by giving me 2 (unsolicited) vouchers for future free oil changes.
While attempting to change the tire, i had great difficulity in removing the lug nuts. After removing four, I finally called AAA road service to remove the final one of five.
The quintessential wrecker operator arrived, shirt with no sleeves, beard, and multiple tattoos, etc. After he stood on the
lug wrench, and bounced, he was finally able to remove to remove the last lug nut. We calculated that his weight (over 200 lbs) with a one-foot long lug wrench, the lug nuts were torqued to at least 200 ft-lbs. Ninety-five being the specified torque.
it was also during this time they were never able to get a satisfactory balance of the tires. Sam's Club and lately Discount Tire have done the rotation and balance, and the problem has been resolved.
I would consider Pensacola Honda for another purchase, but not for service.
