Ken, who claimed to care for all the palm trees in my neighborhood, had done work for my neighbor. He seemed very knowledgeable about the Sego Palms and the Cicad scale that is killing them. He claimed to have a very expensive chemical developed by a university at $90 a pint that he guaranteed to kill the pest. He did not tell me how much it was going to cost before he started. He had his girlfriend and child in his truck waiting for me. He pressured me into doing this and would not take no for an answer. I assumed it would be about $50 and was shocked when he told me $230, but I paid him anyway. Of course, I regretted it immediately afterwards, but it was too late.
