Pinch A Penny is very good. I have no problem with them. I called them because I found them on Angie's List, rated A, and made the appointment. They were very prompt, very professional and they talked to me in English so I could understand what they were saying. They weren't talking to me in the equipment terms, he would tell me exactly what the parts did that we had to replace. They were great, I have no complaints. I will definitely use them again.

I researched this controller upgrade with the Pinch-a-Penny 128 service manager well in advance of the installation. When I had decided which of the suggested options I wanted to pursue, I called to discuss it again and to get an estimate. The estimate was provided by email and was complete and detailed for exactly the configuration I had requested. The installation was scheduled and Dave the technician arrived on time. He explained exactly what he was going to do and went about doing it. He was careful to calibrate the correct water pressure for the pool cleaner when setting the new actuator and he explained the system operation to me in detail and answered all my questions. The controller is operating well and I am very happy with it. An additional issue with the installation developed before the scheduled service when I realized that my existing solar sensor was faulty and might not be working for the installation. I did not know if it was due to a connection fault or an on-the-roof sensor fault. Because the technicians do not go up on the roof (insurance limitations), I worried that a broken roof sensor would keep him from properly testing the controller. I called the shop and requested that the technician bring a sensor simulator to test the system in the case where it was a sensor fault. Brad was very responsive and added the request to the service order. It all worked out great, the technician had the sensor simulator but did not need it because he found a connection fault which he corrected during the installation.

The job went very well. The 15000 gal pool was drained in about 3 hours with a gasoline pump and large diameter hose. I refilled the pool over 24 hours after which a technician returned to finish the job. He disassembled the pool filter to clean and inspect it, reassembled, vacuumed the pool, added the required chemicals, and left the pool running. When the job was complete there was no mess left behind and the technician went to extra effort to keep the DE powder from setting into my paver walkways.

The whole project went very well. Pinch-a-Penny was very responsive and communicated all details of the process and its scheduling. The installation was well done and resulted in minimal impact to the existing landscape. It took several days to complete due to the electrical power upgrade that was required and was done by a different company. Tony managed the project and spent time answering all my questions before, during and after the project was complete. All the small details were taken care of.

At the beginning of a holiday weekend my pool pump died. I called Pinch-a-Penny and they were all booked up and had to give me an appointment for 4 days later - after the holiday. However, she said she would try to find an opening sooner. I was surprised when she called me back and said that a slot had opened up that very afternoon and the technician would be right over. He very quickly diagnosed and replaced the motor and related seals and O-ring. I have dealt with this Pinch-a-Penny at Sand Lake Road and Dr Phillips for years and before this service they replaced my 25 year old filter, in-line chlorinator, and controller/timer box. They have always been courteous and professional and time efficient.

I find them to be very good. They did a very good job. It aggravated me a bit because the guy did not come straight away. He said that it was going to be an extra cost, plus $50 to come and check the pool when it was $95 a month. They sound like a reputable company and they did a good job, but it was just that I did not want to have to deal with them. They did not tell me about the charge. I thought that the pricing was a little expensive, but they did a good job. I will not use them only because they charge $50 every time they come out to check if everything is working.

The project was estimated in a timely manner, scheduled conveniently, and then done in one day.
