Pinch A Penny is very good. I have no problem with them. I called them because I found them on Angie's List, rated A, and made the appointment. They were very prompt, very professional and they talked to me in English so I could understand what they were saying. They weren't talking to me in the equipment terms, he would tell me exactly what the parts did that we had to replace. They were great, I have no complaints. I will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: There were other parts of the pool equipment that needed repair and I had to call them.

I researched this controller upgrade with the Pinch-a-Penny 128 service manager well in advance of the installation. When I had decided which of the suggested options I wanted to pursue, I called to discuss it again and to get an estimate. The estimate was provided by email and was complete and detailed for exactly the configuration I had requested. The installation was scheduled and Dave the technician arrived on time. He explained exactly what he was going to do and went about doing it. He was careful to calibrate the correct water pressure for the pool cleaner when setting the new actuator and he explained the system operation to me in detail and answered all my questions. The controller is operating well and I am very happy with it. An additional issue with the installation developed before the scheduled service when I realized that my existing solar sensor was faulty and might not be working for the installation. I did not know if it was due to a connection fault or an on-the-roof sensor fault. Because the technicians do not go up on the roof (insurance limitations), I worried that a broken roof sensor would keep him from properly testing the controller. I called the shop and requested that the technician bring a sensor simulator to test the system in the case where it was a sensor fault. Brad was very responsive and added the request to the service order. It all worked out great, the technician had the sensor simulator but did not need it because he found a connection fault which he corrected during the installation.
Description of Work: Installed a Hayward On Command pool system controller. Removed existing pump and solar controllers. Added a valve actuator to the pool cleaner valve to allow connection to the new controller. Investigated a problem with the in-line tablet chlorinator and replaced the O- ring. I use this Pinch for all the pool service I want and they provide. They have done several big jobs for me, which are discussed in previous reviews. They have never disappointed me in any way and I trust the advice which they are happy to provide.

Had a leak from the top valve on the pool filter. Could not turn the valve by hand and called Pinch a Penny for advice and cost to have someone come to replace the valve. Was told that it should come off and I tried with a large pipe wrench and was able to remove the valve. Took the valve to pinch a penny and purchased a replacement valve and installed it on the pool filter.
Description of Work: Was very helpful on the phone in helping me remove a part from the pool filter. Had the replacement part and it was easy to install.

The job went very well. The 15000 gal pool was drained in about 3 hours with a gasoline pump and large diameter hose. I refilled the pool over 24 hours after which a technician returned to finish the job. He disassembled the pool filter to clean and inspect it, reassembled, vacuumed the pool, added the required chemicals, and left the pool running. When the job was complete there was no mess left behind and the technician went to extra effort to keep the DE powder from setting into my paver walkways.
Description of Work: Drained inground pool to allow replacement of water. Cleaned DE filter. Adjusted chemical levels. Vacuumed and restarted pool

The whole project went very well. Pinch-a-Penny was very responsive and communicated all details of the process and its scheduling. The installation was well done and resulted in minimal impact to the existing landscape. It took several days to complete due to the electrical power upgrade that was required and was done by a different company. Tony managed the project and spent time answering all my questions before, during and after the project was complete. All the small details were taken care of.
Description of Work: Provided and installed a pool heat pump in my existing pool system. Prepared the site, coordinated the electrical upgrade required to power it, installed it, coordinated the manufacturer repair that was required on the new heat pump unit, confirmed that it was running properly and cleaned up and finished the site.

At the beginning of a holiday weekend my pool pump died. I called Pinch-a-Penny and they were all booked up and had to give me an appointment for 4 days later - after the holiday. However, she said she would try to find an opening sooner. I was surprised when she called me back and said that a slot had opened up that very afternoon and the technician would be right over. He very quickly diagnosed and replaced the motor and related seals and O-ring. I have dealt with this Pinch-a-Penny at Sand Lake Road and Dr Phillips for years and before this service they replaced my 25 year old filter, in-line chlorinator, and controller/timer box. They have always been courteous and professional and time efficient.
Description of Work: Confirmed my failed pool pump diagnosis. Replaced the motor with a new one with related seals and O-ring. Tested it and removed old parts.

I find them to be very good. They did a very good job. It aggravated me a bit because the guy did not come straight away. He said that it was going to be an extra cost, plus $50 to come and check the pool when it was $95 a month. They sound like a reputable company and they did a good job, but it was just that I did not want to have to deal with them. They did not tell me about the charge. I thought that the pricing was a little expensive, but they did a good job. I will not use them only because they charge $50 every time they come out to check if everything is working.
Description of Work: I used Pinch-A-Penny Pool Patios Spa Inc. last month and they come out and make sure that the pool is running fine.

We emailed a question and got a response within 24 hours, on a weekend. We were very pleased with the promptness and professionalism displayed. We will contact them again if we have a pool issue.
Description of Work: We e-mailed a question about our pool pump and it was suggested to us to call an electrician. It was nice not to have to pay for them to come out and tell us the same information.
