"We contacted Florida Woodworks to build kitchen cabinets for our home. The existing cabinets were partially damaged when we had a water pipe break in our wall. Jack and his son Zack did an excellent job at demolishing and installing new custom made wooden kitchen cabinets. They are both very professional and polite. The project was priced "right" and the quality is excellent. We highly recommend this company and rate it a 5 star for quality; customer service; value for money; overall."

"Mauro is the guy we've been looking for. He contracted to build a wooden perimeter fence. Very reasonable and flexible on design and pricing. He was always on time and built the fence according to specs, accepting changes and adapting our needs. Mauro and his assistants were friendly, respectful, and tidy. The finished product exceeded our expectations and is absolutely beautiful. Mauro also did some interior work in a bathroom and kitchen. Again, he was prompt, worked efficiently, and did an excellent job. We are so happy that he answered our call, and can recommend him without reservation."

"This 70+ yr old table needed refinishing due to neglect as well as sitting in water during a hurricane flood. It was refinished to perfection! Beautiful wood on top and the legs look unblemished. Would do it again!"

"We hired eagle build construction to cover our facia boards and dormer boards with metal due to woodpecker damage. Leon was prompt and very thorough with the job. The job was very dangerous as we have an 8-12 pitch on our roof. he was very careful and precise with the installation. We are extremely pleased with the outcome. I would highly recommend this company."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

If you’re just replacing a few broken or damaged joists, you can expect to pay anywhere from $100 to $300 per joist. However, a complete installation for a home or room will take into account the cost of labor, which ranges from $25 to $40 per hour. Floor joist installation for an entire room, for example, can cost between $5,000 and $10,000, depending on the room's size and the materials used.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.

Some states require carpenters to be licensed to perform forms of carpentry, such as framing. The license requires a certain amount of experience and to pass an examination. In states that don’t require carpenters to be licensed, they must be licensed as a contractor if they work independently rather than solely as a subcontractor under a licensed builder. Use Angi’s contractor licensing tool to find out whether a potential carpenter is licensed in your state.

While the Arts and Crafts movement inspired many architectural elements, the primary styles from the time include Craftsman, Tudor Revivals, bungalows, and Mission homes. You'll see elements of these styles in homes, churches, museums, and schools—particularly Country Day schools from the era.
