Description of Work: My swimming pool was losing about 1/2" of water per day. I immediately went to Angie's List to research the best pool leak detectors. After a search, my choice was Florida Leak Locators. Why? They have great reviews, great pricing, and finding leaks is all they do !! They find leaks and fix leaks. Period. I called and got a very informed person who advised that the weather was cooling down and so was my pool. He suggested that before I pay for an inspection, that I first perform the bucket test to ensure that I had a leak. I followed his instructions and sure enough, I had a leak. I called back on a Saturday and left a message that I needed service and to please return my call. On Monday I was prepared to call them, but at 8:15 a.m. I received a call from BETH !! BETH asked me several questions about my situation, told me to ensure the pool was filled to the proper level and clean and clear and then set an appointment for the next day -- Tuesday!! I was very pleased they could come so quickly. BETH said that the technician would call me on Tuesday between 7:30-8:00 a.m. on Tuesday to give me the arrival time. BETH's customer service was top notch. I hung up feeling confident I was well on my way to a remedy. At 8:00 a.m. today, Tues, Oct 12, I received a called from DAVE, my technician. DAVE explained that I was his 3rd stop of his day, that he would arrive between 11-11:30 am today and that if any thing changed, he would contact me. At 11:10 a.m. today, DAVE called and said he would arrive in about 15 min. and he did!! DAVE arrived and carefully ran through his inspection procedures. After initial testing, DAVE determined he would have to get in the pool to further evaluate and he geared up in his wet suit. Florida Leak Locators have sophisticated detection equipment and know how to use it. Within minutes DAVE found the leak at the main drain in my pool and repaired it quickly and professionally. You can barely see the epoxy line. It's perfect. This entire process took DAVE about ONE HOUR. Start to finish folks. Then DAVE gave me a call to let me know that I was good to go and wanted to know if I had any questions. DAVE said to keep the pool pump off for the rest of the day and if I had any further drop, to let him know and he'd be back.

 + -1 moreDave arrived on time and performed a test on all lines to rule out leaks in the underground system. He noticed a leak in the pump housing and gave us advice on how to repair it ourselves. He checked the light fixture and found no leaks, then turned to the skimmer and found a number of holes around the skimmer system that were leaking large amounts of water. He repaired the leaks on site. We have had no further issues with the pool losing water and are very pleased. Dave was very professional and courteous, and showed us what he was doing each step of the way. I am.happy to recommend this company.

 + -1 moreWe contacted Florida Leak Locators. They were extremely helpful on the phone and scheduled an appointment within the week. The young man who came out was very professional and knowledgeable. He tested the lines and found a leak in the skimmer. He sealed the entire mouth of the skimmer with epoxy. The water was extremely cold, but he spent the time doing a good job. He then explained about different kinds of pool leaks and what we needed to watch in the future. He told us that eventually we might have to replace the skimmer, but saw no reason to do so at this time. I was very impressed with him and his service.
Description of Work: We had a leak in the pool. The water level was going down significantly and we were replacing the water each week. Florida Leak Locators located and repaired the leak.

 + -1 morehad florida leak locators repair a leak very nicely at a pool about a year and a half ago. service was terific so I called them to repair another pool that was losing water. they came and identifies 2 leaks on at jet and one at skimmer both large enought o account for the water loss. Well a week later the pool was still losing water. I called Fla leak locators and they were very apologetic and came right back out ( 3days) the reviewed everything and worked on every jet, light etc. and then found that there was a likely crack in main spa drain. They discussed my options with me and we decided to cap the spa main drain. No charge for return service even though Matt was here for nearly 2 hrs. A couple of weeks later there was a sizable drop in water level, called Fla leak locators again and was quickly called back by owner sean, he then came out himself and reviewed matt's work and then ound that this most fecent water loss was due to pump valves being mis-set. Sean once again clearly explained my options even though this newest loss was the fault of someone else. And once again no charge for this 3rd site visit. All emplyees are courteous, thorough and respectful. They explain the problems and the options without being condescending. Very nice experience.

He was very professional and knew more about swimming pools and equipment than any contractor we've ever had. He explained what he was going to do. When he finished, he took me to each of the locations describing what he found and how he repaired it. We couldn't be happier with the results. We highly recommend this company.

 + -1 moreHardest part was to convince them that I did have a leak. They are very conservative and try not to go if they think there is no problem. However, if you do the bucket test, and the water level in the pool drops more than the water level in the bucket, you have a leak(even if the difference is only 1/8"/day as it was in my case). When they did arrive, they fixed the leak promptly. It was around the(cracked)skimmer, and at the water return. After sealing affected areas with some hydraulic cement, leak is completely gone. I am also getting my pool remodeled soon, and as a bonus I received plenty of good advice from the repairman regarding different issues/concerns with the remodel project. He himself has remodeling experience and was happy to opine.

 + -1 moreWe were told that we would be charged for the service even if no leak was found and we accepted that. The technician came out, did some investigation and decided the leak was at the drain. He then proceeded to put putty around the drain. The job was very unsightly and the first time it was vacuumed, it all broke apart and came away from the drain. We were then told to do a bucket test which was done and the result was that the slow leak is still there. Another technician came out and put a bucket in our pool and no one has ever returned.
Description of Work: We have a slow leak in our pool and wanted to locate the source and remedy the problem before it gets worse.

 + -1 moreI left the gate and lanai unlocked and they let themselves in. He said the skimmer was fine but found 3 return ports that 'drew dye'. He applied epoxy to those ports. I am still monitoring the rate of water loss, but it does seem to have slowed down.
Description of Work: This work was done in September 2008 - a year after they fixed the skimmer. The water level in my pool still seemed to drop too fast so I called them back before the warranty ran out on the skimmer work. They were prompt, but could not come out on a weekend - hard for someone who works.

He worked tirelessly to find and fix the leak for the final time! It has been over 4 months and we see no noticeable leaks in the pool.  + -1 moreI called Florida Leak Locators and made an appointment and was quoted a price. The technician called at 7:30 the morning of the appointment and said he would be there at 10:00. Matt was punctual as well as professional and after surveying the pool with his listening device, he located the leaks which he repaired. I would recommend this company to anyone as I am a satisfied customer.
Description of Work: The technician, Matt, located the major leaks around the mouth of the skimmer and sealed all of the leak areas with epoxy.

 + -1 moreThey fixed the leak but they created other problems. We had three rotating heads that were damaged by them. They denied it. Then I asked for them to replace them. I said I would pay for two of them and they could pay for one and put it in for us. When I called her this spring she said she never told us that they would do that. She said she had left two but they never had. Nobody ever saw them.
Description of Work: There was a leak in the return pipe for the pool. They had to cut through concrete and find it. They fixed it.

 + -1 moreWe called Florida Leak Locators on a Monday, but they were so busy they could not send anyone out until the following Tuesday; over 1 week. We had done research on the web and like this company and were willing to wait. Once they arrived they were able to locate and fix the leak quickly.
Description of Work: Had a major leak in our pool and didn't know where the leak was located. We were having to fill our pool daily; the pool level was going down more than 1 inch every day. Florida Leak Locators came out and located the leak in our skimmer and had it fixed in less than 1 hour.

 + -1 moreI can't say enough good things about Florida Leaks Locators. From Carla who took the initial call to Bud who made the service call, everyone was professional, courteous and very helpful. It's a real 'treat' to find people who are honest and actually interested in doing a first class job. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We were losing 6 to 8 inches of water a day in our fountain and were convinced there was a leak. Bud came out promptly and identified the problem as a missing check valve on the fountain. Just to be sure there was no leak, we set up a "bucket test" and it showed there was no leak in the pool or the fountain. Bud only charged us for a service call and recommended someone that would install the check valve.

Upon calling their office to make an appointment, I was given instructions as to how to measure the amount of water the pool was losing daily and how much a repair would cost. I was told that if the leak was detected inside the pool, that there would be a charge of $265 (detection and repair). Any leaks determined to be outside the pool would be given an estimate for repair. After making the determination of amount of daily water loss and calling them back, I was given a prompt appointment. Ron was very methodical in his location of the leak and took his time to check out everything, even to the extent of putting on a wet suit to thoroughly check out all aspects of where the leak might be--necessary, given the size of our pool and the fact that the water was cold (it was December 27). After determining that the leak was behind a pool light, he promptly repaired it.
Description of Work: Ron came out and methodically checked different areas of the pool for a leak. He finally detected a large leak behind one of our pool lights and made the necessary repair.

He knew exactly what he was doing and kept strategizing and trying different things until he figured out the problem. Thanks to him, we didn't have to go through the expense and trouble of having our deck dug up, etc. We worried about whether the leak had caused soil erosion under the deck, and he advised how to watch for that and what to do if we suspected a problem. One negative was that he arrived later than he said he would. He said as late as 9:45 that morning that he would be at our house between 10 and 11 a.m. One of us had to leave work to wait for him. He didn't show up until close to 11:30. He should have called to let us know he would be late.
Description of Work: Diagnosed a major leak that involved a broken underground pipe. Using the hydrophonic equipment, he was able to find that the broken pipe was the water source to the Polaris. He saved us a lot of money by suggesting a solution that did not involve digging up the pool deck to fix the leaking pipe (which could have cost as much as $1,100): He capped off the Polaris pipe at both ends (in the pool wall and at the pump). We will replace our 20-year-old Polaris with a different type of pool sweeper that connects to the skimmer (for about $400). On an unrelated pool problem, he discovered that the spa backup valve needed to be replaced and suggested where we could go to get this.

 + -1 moreI have a significant crack in my pool although I don't notice any leaking. I called after hours to set up an appointment and they called the next morning (a Saturday). In the discussion it seemed unlikely that the pool was leaking. They told me how to do a rough determination myself and suggested that I do that before spending the money for a full test. They also gave me some good advice on the crack, etc. I was very impressed with their knowledge and helpfulness.
Description of Work: There was no work performed. This good rating is for not doing work that was not needed and saving me some money.

 + -1 moreFor months we were stumped as to our water bill being higher than normal. Checked the sprinkler system, checked the little red triangle out at the street. At the same time our pond seemed to be losing water faster than "normal". Since it has been so dry we didn't think the two were related. Finally, we determined that mere evaporation couldn't be what was causing the water loss. I called Nicole, left a message, and was called back within an hour or two. Explained the problem, "we can come over to look and give you an estimate in the next day or so", no problem. Jeff called "was close by" dropped in to review the problem and with his expertise and knowledge resolved the issue with a small piece of epoxy putty. To me, it was like finding a needle in a haystack!
Description of Work: Locating the leak was the hard part...after that, Jeff resolved the issue with a small piece of epoxy putty.

 + -1 moreI called them. They explained their service and price. They came out when they said they would. They did a great job. No surprises. I am very happy with their service. They marked a red line in my filter and told me to call them back the next day to let them know if the water level was down. They even offered to send me a letter I could give to the water department so I could get a rebate on the overuse of water due to the leak.
Description of Work: Used sonar and other high-tech equipment to locate leaks in my pool. Found and fixed leaks. Also, notified me of minor drips from two places in my filter/pump piping. The guy explained everything and fixed my leak quickly. Very professional and friendly. I would definitely call them again.

 + -1 moreThis incident occurred in January of 2006: Mike appeared to thoroughly search for my pool leak. He said that he found a leak in the wiring to the underwater light. He fixed it, however, the pool still leaked. I called back in February and was told that because the weather had been so dry, it was probably not leaking but water evaporating. However, I was reassured that even if I called back with the same problem, after the dry season, they would honor their guarantee. I called again in April and they said they could come back out, but the only discount they could give me was $50 off another service call of $265. Their guarantee is 35 days from date of service. I was crazy enough to let them push me off because of the dry season. I will not have them come back.
