Do not do business with this company. Been waiting since July of 2020 to have my drain fixed that was broken upon install as well as grout fixed in our pool tile and a pool light that does not work. They Don’t return calls or emails. Very poor business model and definitely do not stand behind their work. They blame their vendors for taking over 7 months to make a repair, but the vendors they select to install items for their business is certainly a direct reflection of their business. They obviously hire companies that’s the cheapest and not the best quality. Just a 6 month update. Our pool Light is still not fixed, our floor drain is still not fixed, and the grout in our pool edging is still not fixed. All these issues were reported a year ago with constant follow ups and still no resolution. We will be hiring an attorney, getting the items fixed by a different company, and suing Tampa Bay Pools for reimbursement. All of our communication has been documented or recorded. It shouldn’t take over a year to get these things fixed, there are no excuses!!

Tampa Bay Pools is one of the least responsive subcontractors I've ever worked with. They are also the poorest communicators of progress, status, and anything else related to communication with their customer. They put decorative and functional tiles in the stairs and benches in the pool without discussing with us. They built the pool's plumbing without discussing with us what kind of cleaning system we wanted. They installed PVC pipe above ground in parts of the back yard without discussing where they should be located. They did a poor job of teaching us how to use and operate the pool equipment. They did not return phone calls. They would build a little, then not show up again for months, despite numerous calls to them which were not returned. They caused other subcontractors to be rescheduled due to their unresponsiveness and unreliability.

Very unprofessional, do not stand behind work. 3 years and rhe issues still have not been addressed. I filed a complaint for false advertisement with the Florida pool and spa association based on claiming enrollment in professional organizations that they are not a part of. In addition, the original owner Ken Sr represented himself as the board of directors and he is not even on the board. FPSA, informed me that Ken sr is no longer employed by the company, but as of 2019, he is still actively representing himself within the company. Buyers beware.

Accountability Zero! Respect for customer's time and property Zero! Keeping their contract promises close to none! Communication almost close to none! Honesty Zero! And your sanity is gone after signing a contract with these unprofessional human beings. So, May last year we started negotiations, June ground was broken and since then the pool construction has been the most dreadful sluggish process of our lives. Our payments were all timely and the pool has been paid in full as our part of the agreement. However, their final work is not complete and the final county permit was denied twice already, as they don't follow the proper instructions from the inspector. They even had to renew an extra six month permit with the county, as the original had expired. The communication is so bad and their promises so untrue that countless times we were on the phone with them being told, "We are on our way to your house now!" Unfortunately, these were untrue statements and they never showed up countless times. Bottom line, our pool work is partially finished, our lawn can't be fixed till they finish their work and mud is all over the front of the house, as they don't clean up their mess properly and neighbors are rightfully complaining. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS TRAP! We failed to go with other companies that only take their final payment upon full completion of their work and final county inspection approved. I truly don't wish this painful process on anyone!

Everything went great. We got the pool we wanted, with the price we wanted. We had three other companies give us estimates and drawings, and no other company was able to offer what Tampa Bay Pools did. Everything looks great and I continue to receive compliments on the pool. Dan was our salesman and Amanda helped with the drawings and material selection and they were great. Ken Hogue was our superintendent, and was very helpful during the construction process answering all our questions very promptly and explaining everything. We would definitely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone building a pool.

Our pool was completed ahead of schedule without any major issues. We had Ken as our foreman and he was really good about addressing my concerns , questions or issues fairly promptly. Tampa bay uses subcontractors so I made sure to meet all who was going to be around my home, I had no issues with any of them, they were polite and proficient in their skill set. I still have some minor issues with my pavers coming loose on my exsisting patio but they have always come right away to reset. As for the office staff some of them can be a little rude but overall it appears they are working on relating to and communicating more positively with customers. Overall I would use them again and recommend them .

The company is overpriced and mediocre as long as you don't have Any issues. The owner does not take responsibility for the actions of his employees and uses false pretense when dealing with customers. The company falsely advertised membership in 2 professional organizations for over 3 years and was cited with an ethics violation by the FSPA. My salesman and previous owner, represented himself as the chairman of the board even though he is not even a board member. My project manager had an inappropriate relationship with my wife during and after the construction of my pool, beware of Ken Hogue. He also used that relationship to refuse to fix work that was done improperly. The owner and employees will lie to protect each other and refuse to do promised work, this company is profit driven and does not stand behind their work or the family values it advertises.

As a service to other Tampa Bay homeowners, wanted to warn others to avoid Tampa Bay Pools. They built something so wrong, unsightly and unsafe and then cut off communication and refused to fix or fully reimburse their mistake. A 24-inch pedestal design to hold a fire bowl became 14 inches -- ?!?! Rather than work through the problem as a customer/contractor team they abandoned the problem and became increasingly absent until finally they refused to communicate in hopes we would go away. After spending more than $70K, we are left with wires and gas lines sticking out of our pool deck -- and we have 3 small children. Poor work, finger-pointing employees and a chilly, unprofessional owner (Ken McKenna) who told me "this was the end of the discussion" via email without ever having a discussion with me. As a whole, once the contract was signed they were just rude and dismissive. We have photos, contracts, spec-failures and correspondence to support our unfortunate complaints.

Everything is great with it. I haven't had any issues. They did a timely job and everything was good. We ended up doing a cage and we did some custom pillar to match the house so it is a little more extravagant than the pool itself. We had to do landscaping after that. We didn't want it to look like an afterthought with the house and so we had the slates and the wood beams and stone, we carried all those beams out and it looked really nice but it was a big project. They did a great job. They were great and easy to work with. They sent people back out to figure out the filter or something and they came out afterwards with no charge and helped me out with it. They are a great company.

The Tampa Bay Pools salesman over promised, while the construction crew under delivered. In summary, our issues related to:
(1) Construction was behind schedule (and there was very minimal rain) - whatever time period you are quoted; add atleast 2-3 weeks.
(2) Worksite was extremely disorganized, with trash and construction debris all over the yard for approximately 6 weeks - site was never cleaned up until pool was completed.
(3) Salesman neglected to mention that sod replacement is not included (although the brochure I received indicated up to 800 square feet of SOD replacement). Yard sustained excessive damage and we ended up paying a local SOD company $1,100 to replace the SOD (basically over 1/2 the yard had to be replaced).
(4) None of the sprinklers worked (front, side or backyard) after the pool was completed. Phone calls to Tampa Bay Pools were not returned (I had already made complete payment for the pool).  I ended up having to call a sprinkler repair company who indicated the problem was with the way Tampa Bay Pools disconnected the sprinklers in the backyard.  My out of pocket cost was $900 to repair the sprinklers.
I have spoken with other neighbors having pools constructed in the neighborhood, and by far, my experience with Tampa Bay Pools was comparatively worst.
Bottom line, there are better options than Tampa Bay Pools when considering a pool company in the Tampa area.  If you do choose to go with Tampa Bay pools, I would budget an additional $2,000 to have your yard and sprinklers returned to the condition they were before the pool and add atleast 3 weeks to whatever timeline they provide.

The company was extremely responsive during the planning phases of building the pool.  Our yard was somewhat challenging because it is small and in South Tampa where the water table is fairly high.  There were numerous delays for the start of the pool work, and several occasions when contractors did not show up for days at a time.  The pool would just sit there with no progress.  When they finally did show up, it would be late afternoon so only a few hours of work could be done daily.  The pavers did an excellent job and the plumber was extremely conscientious.  The problem was there was inadequate supervision by the job supervisor.  I believe he was stretched too thin, so that may have been the issue.  The frustration we had was with the pool sitting for days without any progress and no explanation as to why.  If we called the supervisor, he would respond with a phone call right away, but often also with promises of work being completed "tomorrow" or "next week" that never materialized.  We felt that we had to stay on top of the company to get any problems resolved.  Of course, they were very prompt when it was time to make the various payments and made sure someone from the office called us to remind us of them.  Little supervision seems to be given to the jobs though.  The pool was completed in November 2012 and we are STILL waiting for some tiles to be repaired on the side of our home that were broken by the construction equipment.(almost a YEAR later)  Additionally, our neighbor's fence was damaged during the construction and that is still not repaired either.  More promises but no action. The Sod company did a poor job as well.  I was not impressed with the slipshod way they placed the sod.  If anything was in the way, (like some pavers in the grass) they just put the sod around them and left the ground underneath bare, rather than knocking on the door to tell us we had to move these items ourselves.   My neighbor had to come outside and tell them what to do and they did not ensure the sod was even with our other grass so there was a "step" effect in our yard.   I believe this company has potential to be great, but the service after the sale and after payment has been made is sorely lacking. There was no attempt by anyone in authority to check with us on our satisfaction with the service.  We were warned that once  you make a final payment, you could forget getting good service and unfortunately, I feel this is the case here.  The pool is great otherwise.

We had a variety of problems during the construction process.
The problems include the shotcrete was formed wrong in the spa, the upgraded
trim tile was going to be laid wrong but we stepped in to correct the problem
during the process, the pavers were laid in the wrong design and had to be
relaid (this caused our pool to be finished 2 weeks late), paver crew went
through personal vegetable garden while we were home and put a hole in our
vinyl fence, the plumber forgot to plumb the overflow line and had to rip up
the pavers, the pavers were not relaid and sanded for roughly 2 weeks, they
failed to replace broken pavers for numerous weeks after we requested it as
well as sufficient sand, one of our upgraded spa jets does not function
properly, the  superintendent failed to
oversee the bulk of subcontractors leading to all these problems. During the
last few weeks of construction we the homeowners took many days off work to
supervise the subcontractors ourselves because the superintendent was not
present. Our pool was filled with water on 10/23/12. Ever since this date our
pool has been leaking roughly 350 gallons of water per week. This issue was
immediately brought to TBP's attention. For the first several weeks they failed
to accept the issue and claimed that it was due to evaporation. After we (the
homeowner) completed an evaporation test (TBP's reccommendation) the leak was
finally accepted as an issue. After weeks of correspondance with TBP and
several no show appointments by TBP employees. A rep came and did a preliminary
dye test. The results of this test was inconclusive so the rep said he would
return to continue the investigation and contact a leak specialist if needed.
At this point that it was acknowledged that there was indeed a leak. We have
not heard or seen anyone in two weeks. Therefore we emailed our contact person
at TBP and they continue to say that they will get back to us. At this point we
have put in roughly 1750 gallons of excess water into our pool at our expense.
This problem is still not remediated therefore we seeked assistance from the
Better Business Bureau.
***We know that there is always things that arise during any
construction process but it is all in how the business or individual solves
this issues that matters. We as the homeowners feel that Tampa Bay Pools failed
miserably at this. ***

Tampa Bay Pools was 1 of the 5  estimates that I got after 1 year of getting estimates and doing research for the pool. In the end I narrowed it down to 3 reputable companies. At that point it came down to price point and customer service. I selected Tampa Bay Pools in the end for their customer service. My sales contact Matt Lent was excellent. He was always pleasant, professional and swift to respond. I could tell he wanted to earn my business but also really wanted me to be happy with my pool. He spent a lot of time going over my selections with me to make sure I knew exactly what I wanted and that I knew what I was getting. He took me to look at the stone and tile at the stores and also to look at like 10 pools they had already built.
The construction process went smoother than I expected. My construction contractor Mike was very nice and was very good about getting back to me. Like any project things come up that are unexpected, I was informed about them and they were handled professionally. My travertine was 2 weeks late so that put the project back 2 weeks other than that they were on the original time line that I expected (of course there were 4 holiday weekends during my building process so that was pretty good). I had a problem with the subcontracting of my interior pool surface and Mike made sure that it was taken care and they took care of my pool until everything was 100%. My only real complaint would be with the subcontractor ProTurf for the sod installation that was contracted into my pool contract (they were terrible).
Overall I give them an A++. I am delighted with my experience and I am very happy with Tampa Bay Pools!

I found them. I looked up the reviews on Angie's List and ended up getting a pool. We are not yet done with the work. I will be spending $85000. I would absolutely grade them highly on all categories. I would recommend them but I don't think that I would get a second pool.

The process went fairly well overall, especially since I've heard horror stories from other people regarding new pool construction.  In my humble opinion, I believe the process would have been much smoother and stress-free if they had more construction supervision for the various subcontractors doing the actual work.  As the homeowner, I was very active in coordinating the sub-contractor work so the desired final outcome was achieved.  Mike Girard, Tampa Bay Pool's supervisor was very knowledgeable and accommodating but spread a little thin managing multiple jobs.  I had virtually no contact with the owner but nevertheless the pool and spa came out looking great.  Tampa Bay Pool's warranty service has been stellar and they have been taking care of any warranty issues without question.  I could recommend this pool company but would suggest homeowner's think about all the details of your project and have it in writing in your signed contract.

We had a botched paver job installed by Outdoor Impressions.   Tampa Bay Pools performed above and beyond what I could have ever hoped a company would have when it comes to fixing someone else's mistake.   There was never a broken promise - calls were returned, people showed up - it was a perfect experience from the start. The quality of the repair was A+.  The men who cut and installed the replacement pavers are true artisans. My only regret is that I didn't call Tampa Bay Pools two years ago when I began this job and as a result, I'll probably spend the rest of my time as the owner of this home constantly repairing the mistakes from Outdoor Impressions.  Correction - I won't do the repairs - I'll call Tampa Bay Pools!
