I desperately needed a pool cleaning service. Our filter had broken and our pool had turned into a swamp. We wanted to pay a company to clean it and then start regular service with them. This one was the first that called me back yesterday. Last night, a pool technician came by my house after hours. I showed him the pool, gave him the check, he said he'd be there again likely tomorrow and I thanked him. I went back in the house to tell my significant other about the progress and the service technician was already gone. Maybe a few minutes. I didn't panic, even though I had just handed him a check. I assumed these were professionals. The next morning, nobody came to service the pool as the technician had said. I called the offices and no one answered. I left a message. Awhile later, I was upset and figured this was just another fraudulent company. I did more internet research and realized the only "testimonials" about Monster Pool Cleaning was on their own website by anonymous "customers". I began to panic. They had taken my email address, but I had just realized that they never emailed anything. I used the contact form, which is how they initially contacted me back, and stressed my concerns. I said if I didn't hear from a service technician or from the company, I was going to cancel the check. I mentioned there that I still hadn't seen the emailed invoice. I was growing concerned. Craig, presumably the owner, called back. I said that no one had stopped by and that service was completed yesterday. That the tech had brushed the pool and put chemicals in it. I said he may have put chemicals in it, but that there wasn't time to brush the pool. That I was watching almost the entire time. He said that they'd be back on Thursday. I said that I'd keep an eye out for what the tech did and he made some snarky comment back. He then called back. He had just read my message before and BROKE UP WITH ME. When I asked why, he said that he didn't have the time. Plus he still has my check. I placed a hold on the check with the bank and reported him for fraud. You don't have time AFTER you took the check? I just need a reputable pool company, who will communicate with me and be honest about the work they did. Not run away after they get the check without completing the work. It's not too much to ask for companies to follow through on what they said they will do, whether call, answer the phone, email invoices, or about what services they will provide. Trust your instinct on this one, it's too good to be true.
Description of Work: I contacted Monster Pool Cleaning to clean up my pool. They came by late last night and grabbed the check. They promptly left and were difficult to get ahold of. They didn't come back like they said and kept the check.
