"We contracted Peter and Leza Galli to paint our condo from ceiling to base boards. They painted 19 doors inside and out, our closets, ceiling walls and crown molding. The previous owners paint job was horrible. The paint was hunter green crown molding, canary yellow and bright red walls and a dark brown on one accent wall. Peter and Leza were able to bring the walls back after blocking the previous color. The Hunter Green crown molding was my concern. Much to my surprise, Peter made it gloss white again. We were very happy."

"Joe and his team are phenomenal! The best thing I like about Joe and his team is the communication. When you need to know something even if it's not a big deal or doesn't have additional cost it's communicated to you. Joe's team worked diligently throughout the process and were flexible with my needs and wants. To find a patient contractor that is willing to accommodate is something of an old school feel. That's what I got from his team. Joe was out to make the best looking, longest lasting, affordable situation for me. I got what I think was the best fix in the business and it didn't cost me what others quoted me for doing less."

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

You may end up with extra wallpaper once your project is finished. Hang on to that wallpaper, as you may need to use it to patch up areas that get damaged later on. If you have a lot of excess wallpaper, try getting creative with it. You can use it to line the inside of a cabinet or drawers, for example.

Wallpaper lasts an average of around 15 years, but there is some variance. The type of wallpaper matters, as vinyl wallpaper tends to last the longest—sometimes 20 years or more—while a peel-and-stick wallpaper, which is the easiest to install for DIYers, will usually only last for around five years. Exposure to high humidity, smoke, and UV rays from sunlight can also limit the lifespan of your wallpaper, as can heavy traffic in the installation area.

It can take a professional anywhere between several hours and a full day to remove wallpaper in one room. How long wallpaper removal takes depends on the type of adhesive, the wallpaper’s age, the condition of the walls, and more.

While textured walls can elevate a space in many ways, there are a couple of downsides to consider. Namely, they’re hard to clean, and some textures fall out of fashion quickly. Make sure to consider all your options to find one you truly love before diving in.

While you can remove wallpaper yourself, it is a labor-intensive process that risks damaging your walls. Common DIY methods include using a steamer to loosen the adhesive or spraying the paper with a solution of hot water and vinegar or dish soap before scraping. However, steamers can cause irreparable damage if used incorrectly, and the spray-and-scrape method can harm drywall if it gets too wet or you scrape too aggressively. For these reasons, hiring a professional is often the fastest, easiest, and safest option. A pro has the experience and specialized tools to remove wallpaper efficiently without damaging the underlying surface, which saves time and minimizes the prep work needed for your next wall treatment.
