"Very professional, on time and excellent craftsman. As a new homeowner, Alex took away all my anxiety of worrying if the job will be done right. He hung my shower door on very expensive tile shower that other contractors were afraid to touch. I call them now for all my Home and business repairs."

"Jeremiah did an excellent job. He removed an old wallpaper border and painted the bedroom. It looks wonderful! He was excellent in his communication. He arrived and worked when he said he would. He did all the finish work and cleaned up very well. The room was ready for me to run a vacuum and put it back together. I would definitely recommend him for painting work and wallpaper removal. He was also very reasonable in his pricing. He was a hard worker. I would use him again."

Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

A vacuum with a hose attachment or a lint roller can easily remove dust from your window screen. Pressure washing window screens is another option, but you should make sure you have the appropriate nozzle and pressure setting to avoid doing extensive damage to your window.

Most windows last for 15 to 30 years, depending on the frame material and the glass quality, but most will require repairs during that time. Windows gradually lose efficiency, so it’s usually best to have a window repair technician inspect and service your windows every five to 10 years. You should also repair your windows if you experience the following:

  • Leaks

  • Drafts

  • Difficulty opening or closing

  • Sudden increases in heating and cooling bills

  • Outdoor noise becomes more audible

  • Signs of physical damage

Many windows carry warranties from the manufacturer or installer that may cover the cost of repairs for a fixed amount of time. When installing or replacing windows, ask about any applicable warranties, what kinds of damage and repair they may cover, and what the procedure is for making a warranty claim.

Window screen repair costs an average of $310, with a typical range of $100 to $480. The final price depends on several factors, including the window size, accessibility, screen type, whether the frame needs replacement, and especially the screen material.

The cost of window screen materials varies widely based on durability and features:

  • Fiberglass: $35–$200

  • Aluminum: $50–$300

  • Copper: $90–$850

  • Stainless Steel: $45–$400

  • Brass: $100–$900

  • Solar: $55–$850

  • Security: $100–$1,000

  • Vinyl: $25–$120

Costs also differ by screen type. For instance, a prefabricated screen might cost only $40, moveable screens typically run $25 to $75, and retractable screens range from $300 to $900. To save money, you can choose more affordable materials like vinyl or fiberglass, opt to rescreen instead of replacing the entire frame, and have multiple screens repaired at once to reduce labor costs.

Some local utilities or state programs offer rebates or tax incentives for energy-efficient upgrades, including solar screens. Make sure to check with your local energy provider or government agency to see if you qualify for any cost-saving programs. Federal tax credits may also be available for qualifying window and exterior home upgrades.
