"The work was to replace the screens in10 windows. The contractor selected the time and date for an estimate but didn't show up. He called the next day and setup a new time and did show up. We agreed on a price to replace 7 screens and provide "sun screens" on 3 windows. They removed the screens for the 7 windows and returned the next day to reinstall them. One of the screens was installed so tight there were 1/4 inch gaps without screen coverage on the sides. They took that screen back and reinstalled the screen so it fit the window. When it came time to install the "sun screens" the installer wasn't prepared with the proper screws or hold down clips. There are 2 windows the same size and on one window he used 6 clips and on the other he used 8 clips and on all windows he used 2 different types of clips (plastic and metal) and 2 different types of screws (drywall screws and pan head screws)... it looks weird. The sun screens do, however, block the sun very nicely. I contacted the owner and told him I wasn't happy with the Sun Screen installation and asked him to come by and see the install. He said he would but here we are a week later and he is a no show so far. Should never had paid my bill."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Carpet is an effective natural insulator, so it will make a room slightly warmer than laminate. The material’s insulating properties also make carpeted rooms more efficient for temperature regulation.

Installing carpet tile takes a pro a few hours per room, while experienced DIYers may take a little longer. However, that does not factor in the time needed to remove the old carpet. Also, if there are issues with the subfloor, fixing it will add to the overall time it takes to complete the installation.

If you’re using a carpet runner instead of a traditional carpet, pay attention to your width measurements. Instead of measuring the total width of your staircase with 2 added inches for foldover, simply measure the width you’d like the runner to cover. Runners generally come in standard sizes, so you may need to approximate what would look best in your space.

Costs depend on carpet quality, labor, underlayment, and furniture moving requirements.

Carpet installation costs include carpet type (material, weave), room size, subfloor preparation, and labor costs. Getting multiple quotes provides a clearer picture of expected expenses.
