"Hometown Restoration came to my home after my dishwasher flooded the bottom floor of my new home apartment in La Costa. They have been excellent. They are here daily monitoring and making sure everything gets dry and they've worked with my insurance adjuster to make sure we are properly taken care of."

"It went very well. His pricing was complimentary to the work and materials provided. Joshua is quite the gentleman and very professional. He takes pride in his work and uses his time well. The job was completed in a matter of days. Joshua has well deserved the name Honest Handyman as I was able to remotely provide entry into our home while he worked diligently when we were away...

"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

Cabinet Refacing and Refinishing questions, answered by experts

The refacing process involves removing old cabinet fronts, applying veneer to frames, installing new doors, and updating hardware. It can enhance kitchen or bathroom appearances without extensive renovations.

Whether to reface or paint comes down to personal preference. Refacing strikes a convenient balance between being more affordable than replacing cabinets and longer-lasting than painting them. Furthermore, it allows homeowners to completely change the aesthetic of their cabinets and still paint them if they choose to. If money was no object, refacing is the better option. However, it’s more expensive and time-consuming than painting. Painting remains an effective way to revamp your cabinets, both in look and longevity, without spending a ton of money.

It is cheaper to paint kitchen cabinets than to replace them. Painting costs range from $400 to $1,300, based on the size and complexity of the project and the average costs in your area. In contrast, replacing kitchen cabinets can cost several thousand dollars, including materials, installation, and potential modifications to countertops and plumbing.

You can modernize an old-looking closet by just painting it, but beyond that, consider electric elements like recessed or accent lighting. If this is a large and deep closet, you can consider adding an island to the middle or a nice ottoman on a rug. Luxury closets will have even more items, like felt-lined drawers for watches and jewelry, in-wall safes, electronic shoe storage, or a tablet catalog of their items.

Yes, refacing old kitchen cabinets is doable as long as the cabinet boxes are still structurally sound. Refacing works best when the framework is in good condition, allowing you to update the doors, drawer fronts, and exterior surfaces without a full replacement.
