Are you overloaded with home projects that keep adding up? Would it be a bad thing to have a reliable, tidy and responsible man friday for those times when it feels like you cant make progress? I have over 20 yrs experience in property management and home repairs from small projects to overseeing renovations and managing subcontractors and vendors. I do assembly, minor plumbing and electricity jobs and installation of fixtures and appliances. I also can do most smaller scale tree work for very fair pricing

"Brian was very prompt, very friendly and brought his tools. My job was hanging mirrors and pictures. All was fine until the last 30 seconds when the glass on a picture got broken. I had 9 items to be hung and it ended up 2 hours which I thought was a bit much. Brian is a very hard worker though."

"Cole has a promising future in his trade. He is a hard worker and takes pride in what he does. We had several things that needed his attention and he did a fine job on each of them. His prices were very fair, and he even called me to tell me that he could repair 1 of the items in a way that would save me some money and be just as effective. That's integrity. The weakest link in Cole's chain during our experience was toward the end, he needed to keep in touch with me on just 1 item, the final one. I think he could have done better on that. I would definitely hire Cole again and recommend him."

Childproofing questions, answered by experts

The best time to hire a childproofing professional is at least three months before your due date. Although it might seem early, proper childproofing takes time, especially if you need extensive services like a pool fence. Getting your house ready now before your child is on the go only helps to protect them at all stages of life.

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are a safe and effective way to protect children from electrical hazards. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the outlet slots when not in use, preventing a child from inserting foreign objects. While they are the safest option available, it's important to note that few things can be considered truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug, so constant supervision around any electrical device is recommended. Tamper-resistant outlets are a much safer solution than childproofing covers, which can be removed by children and may pose a choking hazard.

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are designed to be safe for use in homes with children. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the electrical slots when not in use, which helps protect children from electric shock if they try to insert an object. While they are the safest option available and highly effective, it's important to note that few things are truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug. For this reason, it's best to use tamper-resistant outlets over less effective solutions like plastic covers, which can be removed or pose a choking hazard. Always supervise young children around any electrical outlets or devices.

A professional childproofer will first survey your home to identify potentially dangerous locations, including stairs, cabinets, and pools. Once approved, your professional will order and install the safety equipment for you.

Some ways a childproofing professional will make your home safe include:

  • Anchoring large furniture

  • Installing safety gates

  • Installing safety latches on cabinets and drawers

  • Covering railings that could trap a child

  • Covering electrical outlets

  • Installing a swimming pool fence

  • Removing or covering electrical cords where possible

In many cases, you can DIY home childproofing with success. You can purchase childproofing tools like cabinet locks, outlet covers, and table-edge guards and install them easily.

However, it's best to have a professional childproofing service work on larger projects like pool safety or furniture anchoring. These safety measures can take a lot of time and effort to DIY, plus, you want to ensure the tasks are done correctly to keep your child safe.
