JW Heating was an extremely professional company. They showed up on time and completed the task for a competitive cost. We are a real estate team and JW has just become the go-to company for our and our clients needs!

They tweaked and explained everything until it was right.

I needed coolant, which was quite expensive because the system is old and uses the old-style coolant. The only hitch with the service was that the repairman did not have a long enough ladder to get on the roof of my two-story condo. He put the ladder he brought on top of a garden tool chest I have and got on the roof safely.

We purchased a large (7,000+ sf) home which, from all appearances, was done to the nines. But not the A/C - from our buyers' inspection, we knew one of the A/C units was going bad, but after moving in found the whole HVAC design didn't work and the system was cheap, inefficient and poorly installed. Rather than throw more good money into repairs, we asked Jeff to bid on replacing the whole thing. Jeff went through the house (especially the attic) and analyzed the existing installation (yes, duct placement matters). He made a detailed proposal to correct the fundamental design (our biggest issue being a large, open foyer that had virtually no ventilation - like having an oven in the middle of the house!) We went with a state of the art Lennox XC25 system. This was not just condenser replacement - JW ripped out and rehung the ducts, relocated and replaced most of the supply and return vents. The plenums were custom made, then sealed with silicone and mylar. They look like something from the space shuttle. Finally, Jeff had the new ductwork pressure tested by an outside firm to ensure it as close to airtight as possible (he's big on this - most A/C systems leak like crazy). It tested at 5% leakage, which is nearly perfect (some systems leak 45%) This required 3 weeks of workers arriving at 7:00 AM (HVAC guys need to get into the attic early before it gets too hot), but the result is a completely new and super-comfortable environment. Unlike other contracting experiences we've had, these guys showed up every day, on time, until the job was done (no mysterious days spend wondering if anyone was coming to work). Overall: HVAC repair is a challenging game - you're asking someone to come into a strange home they've never seen and solve a problem they may not have caused. First and foremost, Jeff is gentle, kind, intelligent and customer service-oriented. He is focused on results first - and once the price was set, we were never nickel and dimed. Not everyone is going to rip out their entire system as we did, but I would encourage anyone to reach out to JW for HVAC.

Owner/Operater Jeff Williams and his crew did an outstanding job of installing new A/C-Heating in our home that was built in 1953. The crew cleaned up at the end of each day they were here, so we didn't feel like we were living in chaos. They made some minor changes that I requested as they went along (re-locating a vent from the front roof to the back) and were professional in everything they did. I felt well informed about what was going to happen and when (like when the crane would come to place the condenser on top of the roof.) The crew leader, Joe was terrific about getting everything done in 3 days. When the city inspector came to do the final inspection of the unit he said, "This is one of the cleanest installations I've ever seen!" Also, the price was reasonable and less than another estimate we got for the same work and equipment. We've been using the A/C now for a month and it works great and is very quiet, which was important to us. We really couldn't be happier and I'd recommend JW Heating and Air to anyone who wants the job done right.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it was good. They came out on time, when I asked them to; it was easy. I did not have a hard time getting them in so that was good. It was a very routine service and I was happy with them.

Prompt, professional and informative.

We have two AC units. One would not turn-on and we thought the other was working fine, When the service man showed up, he discovered that the unit we thought was working, was functioning intermittently. He replaced a capacitor and now it's working. The other unit, the one we called about, was triggering the trip-switch. He discovered that the compressor was bad. To replace the compressor, he gave me a rough estimate of $2200. My research indicates the compressor costs between $650 and $800. I can't imagine the labor would be $1400. He said because our unit was so old (30 years) that he would probably "not be allowed" to replace the compressor anyway. He recommended that we replace the two-ton unit for about $6500. I felt like the repair visit was also a sales call. Since, then I called another ac company and they are going to check the wiring in the compressor itself as it might not have to be replaced. They had no objection to replacing the compressor if necessary.

JW installer Nelson showed up promptly at the appointed time, answered my myriad questions (I know just enough to be dangerous), fixed the fuse I'd blown on the furnace, relocated the air cleaner control, then installed and thoroughly tested the Nest. Nelson was knowledgeable, courteous, and took the time to thoroughly go over everything he did. At the end of the install, he even cleaned the area of drywall dust, etc. that I myself had gotten on the floor when I tried to do the install myself. Fast, knowledgeable service--and he left my home in better shape than he found it in. You can't ask for more than that! I've used JW many times over the years, for everything from a furnace install to multiple ductless AC installations, and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

The consultation visit was excellent and my husband was very happy. They at first said they didn't have any dates available, but then someone cancelled and they gave us the first slot available. The guy knew what he was talking about and he was very professional. He answered all our questions.

They're okay. We're just okay with them right now. I wouldn't say excellent. We knew it was an issue when we bought it. They charged $500 to fix it but it didn't get fixed. They came back out and said "We don't know what the problem is. We will do some research." They called back and then they suggested to buy a humidifier. I don't think it was a good solution. We had to find a secondary source. It wasn't their fault, it wasn't awful. They're just good. Their regular service and their service guys have been very nice. The issue's frustrating but it is not their fault. They gave us freebies for new clients. We're going to stick with them. We have a service contract with them. For a normal maintenance, I think they're very good but it's just they weren't able to do our specialized issues.

Jeff and the company were the best contractors we've ever hired in 20 years living in California. Showed up on time every time. Went over every detail of the service in advance. Went over options in detail, explained why we should pick the unit we ultimately picked. Confirmed the installation, then showed up on time. Install went perfectly. Followed up a week later to make sure. I wish Jeff could teach other contractors how to do business.

Everything went well from the beginning. George came to the house and estimated the job. I specifically wanted to replace the old outdoor supply and return air ducts, and the packaged AC/heating unit. George addressed all of my questions and gave me details, (pros & cons) on other brands of AC units. Once I decided on the brand, I gave him the go ahead with the project. I also added a spring isolation frame option to the quote. One of my main concerns was to reduce the noise created by the AC unit on the roof. On the day of the install Sean and his install crew got right to work and changed out the AC unit and ducts. The job nearly took an entire day to complete. The crew was great. That day it was very hot, 100 degee temperature outside. I kept them supplied with cold water and soft drinks. Once the job was completed I went up on the roof to see the installation. They did a first class job and kept the roof clean and free of debris. The AC/heating unit exceeded my expectations as it is so quiet and cools the home efficiently. The spring isolation frame helps reduce the noise from permeating the wood frame home with hum and vibration. The City of Burbank inspector signed off on the inspection later in the week on Thursday. This was not the low bid price though I got exactly what I paid for, quality equipment and a great install job. Good work guys!

Technician arrived on time and work was completed in a timely manner.

The serviceman arrived more or less on time and quickly got to work looking at the outside AC unit and the furnace in the attic. He cleaned the AC unit. That's when the upsell began. He told me I had a bad capacitor, needed a drainage pan, needed 2 liters of coolant, etc. It seems odd that a perfectly functional system would need $500 in repairs and upgrades. I came away from the whole experience feeling like I had been dealing with a used car salesman, not a technician. Given this, I will not be using JW Heating and Air again.

With summer on its way, the time had come to replace my 30 year old central ac/heating unit and all of the duct work. I'd had a number of companies come out and make bids, but Jeff stood out because of the amount of time he spent examining all aspects of the job. He knew exactly what he was getting into...and so did I. And he saved me money where it was practical. Another company insisted on replacing the platform for an additional 500.00. Jeff's response was: "why, it just needs to be painted". I'll take care of it. So the day came and Jeff's crew was right on time. One concern I had was the drain line from the AC. I hated the look of the white PVC running diagonally across the roof. There had to be a better way. So we put our heads together and Joe, Jeff's right hand man came up with some ideas that seemed better than what was there. I gave it the green light and left for work. When I got back, Joe and the crew were wrapping it up. Now for me, AC units on the roof are not the most attractive things, but when it's done right, not so bad. They did a real clean installation that looks great. The platform looks like new and the drain line was better than I'd hoped. I actually like the parts I can see because it does not look like someone left 25 ft of PVC on the roof. A special shout out to Joe on that one! The new unit is quiet and the few times I've used it, the air is nice and cold. I'm almost looking forward to the dog days of summer just to see what this baby can do! All and all, I'm very pleased with JW Heating and Air. Jeff is a conscientious businessman who understands customer relations and has put together a great crew to achieve that.

Please provide an opportunity to get you off our back when we don't use the service, simply without all this detail I repeat... I never used this service because they didn't service my area. Please stop asking me for my review...

They were very good. They just seemed like they were above more and the price they charge were very reasonable. I did pay them extra for the service that they provided.

Two day job. Work progressed in accordance with the contract. Techs were careful to keep work area clean and protect the home. Mark managed the project and was responsive to my requests. Overall experience was good.

From the initial contact John Mattson, the company analyst we worked with, was polite, attentive, courteous, respectful, and willing to answer each and every question we came up with. In fact, his initial visit to our home lasted four hours!! As he went about his work of analyzing the heating and cooling needs of our home environment. he would interrupt his work to explain exactly what he was doing, and detail why it was relevant to the decision we would ultimately make. We decided on a more powerful system than we needed, but the alternative was a system with the same capacity to heat and cool as the one we were replacing, which seemed redundant, and unable to take advantage of the efficiencies of the more powerful system. From there it was on to the installation. The work was done primarily by three technicians, Eli, Oscar and Ramon. Each day they arrived at our home on time, and usually worked beyond the usual quitting time in order to reach completion of the install as soon as possible. Keep in mind, air conditioning systems don't go down during the winter, and the daily temperatures in late September 2012 in our end of the San Fernando Valley hovered around 100 degrees each day, with the final day hitting a sweltering 115!! The company decided to keep them working on our job, even though their services had been committed to other contracts. This commitment to customer service cannot be over-emphasized, since we were in peak season for this kind of work. Each of these technicians were willing to answer our questions and explain exactly what they were doing and why. Their respect for us, and for the work they do, reflects well on them as individuals, and as representatives of the company. So why, then, is this review being written nearly nine months after the job was completed? A heating and cooling system installation is not like replacing a refrigerator. The refrigerator pretty much does the same thing repeatedly, without any need to adjust to environmental conditions. Now that we have had some changes in our "seasons", we can speak more thoroughly on the performance of these systems. Unlike the previous systems we had, these seem to work less to achieve more efficient results. The furnace reached the desired temperature, and maintained it with less effort required. The same can be said for the air conditioning. When our neighbors systems can still be heard straining to achieve, ours remains quiet. These performance capabilities were initially described in great detail by John Mattson, and, truth be told, I had my doubts. Now, however, the proof is in the performance. The only metric we can't evaluate yet is energy cost savings. We will need to compare the air conditioning "season" of 2013 against the last one of our old system, which would be 2011. And then in 2014 we'll be able to see a year to year comparison for the new system. JW Heating & Air made a difficult decision for us a lot more comfortable. The support from the office has been significant as well. Setting up a service agreement, and making sure we understood what the company would do for us enabled us to rest assured that we are not being cast aside now that the work has been done. Overall I would rate the performance of J W Heating & Air as excellent, and would gladly recommend them to anyone taking on what initially seemed like an insurmountable problem. Our cost expectations were very close to the company's figures, but more importantly, they worked hard to earn our trust and confidence in their commitment to our comfort. Before making this complex decision I would advise consumers to consult J W Heating & Air.

The technician showed up early! He was very professional. My husband let him in to take care of everything, so by the time I got home he already had everything hooked up and being tested. He noticed we were low on freon, so i purchased a pound of that. The technician also let us know that our system was older and we would probably need to replace that within the next 2 yrs. He went over the newer options and a quick run down of things that we needed to know when it is time to purchase a new system.

The parts are very expensive.

I wish every company could be this professional. Very neat, and thorough. Not the least expensive, but definitely worth it.
