Jeff, the owner of JW, came to give an estimate of replacing the entire A/C system (Compressor/Heat Pump, Fan Coil, Supply Plenum) in my 2 BR condo. He explained all the options that would work in my situation and ended up staying 1:45hrs to make sure all my many questions and concerns were adressed. He explained, that to take full advantage of the increased efficiency and energy savings of today's systems ( using R-410A refrigerant) the estimate included changing the existant refrigerant lines to the larger 3/8" lines compatable with the R-410A. Since replacing the lines would require opening a metal housing on the roof containing the existing lines, and then re-routing the larger lines to my unit, the other 2 companies providing estimates said that that would be too difficult to do and "it wasn't really necessary anyway". (As I found out later, upgrading to the larger lines is absolutely necessary for effeciency and MUST be done to comply with the building code, at least in Culver City.) Being a 40 year old installation, the existing supply plenum was wrapped in aspestos and JW's estimate included the safe removal of the asbestos by a certified asbestos-removal company. Of the other 2 companies providing estimates one would simply wet the asbestos down and remove it themselves (very unsafe for them and for me), and the other company didn't even mention there was asbestos. I compared the estimates and decided that JW would provide the most complete, effecient, and professional installation. Jeff came back to finalize the workorder and even provided a letter to the Condo Association describing in detail the non-destructive work that was needed on the roof to change the refrigerant lines. The following Wednesday the asbestos-removal company came. They laid plastic on the carpet and hung plastic on the walls surrounding the area inside the condo where the Fan Coil and SUpply Plenum were located and removed the asbestos safely. The following day Jeff came with his team of 3 installers to start the work. The team was extremly polite, quiet, clean, efficient, and it was evident they had been trained extensively in A/C systems and installation. The work was complete by day's end and when the plastic was removed from the carpet and walls everything was clean. No dirty marks on the walls or carpet anywhere. A few days later Jeff came out to inspect the installation and to answer any final questions I may have. The city building inspector came out and verified that the work was in total compliance with current building codes. Working with JW was such a great experience. I didn't have to do anything. Everything was handled by JW. I was very impressed with Jeff. He followed up on every detail throughout. He spent 6 hours here in total over 4 visits. The 3 man installation team that came out knew exactly what they were doing and did so in a way that was completly comfortable for me. I really liked the way they worked as a team. One guy on the roof, and the other two inside. It was easy to see they had done this many times before. In conclusion: JW provided a complete, efficient, and professional installation with the highest quality. Their pricing was most competetive and considering the work that was included in their bid that the other 2 companies would not do (safe asbestos removal and changing the refrigerant lines) JW beat the competition hands down.

My heating and air unit was leaking from the return vent onto the hallway floor when the air conditioner was running. The technician came out, went onto the roof, cleared out a blocked pipe, cleaned the filter and replaced everything. He advised that one of the coils was bent and could be the cause of the leaking (which would require replacing the unit, essentially), but thought that the servicing that he had done would resolve the problem. So far, no leaking and we use the unit a lot. What I really appreciated about the visit was that he came in, did the work and did not try to sell me on performing a lot of other work, which my previous unit servicer did everytime they came out to perform even the smallest job.

Probably great if you need a brand new A/C system. We were told we'd need a new system, etc., but when we tried to get details we were told we'd need to "speak with a salesman." Bit like a used car dealer experience... We had another company, also from Angie's List, come out today because last week or so some construction workers doing other work punctured our freon line. The other company came out just today, fixed the leak, etc., and indicated our system was just fine... Perhaps JW specializes in selling/installing new systems and not so much in repairs. We'd have preferred knowing that before we wasted our time. Sorry, but it's true.

The owner, Jeff Williams, and another person from the company came to our home, took measurements of the guest house and wrote up an estimate on the spot. There was some back and forth on the price and an agreement was reached the next day. The installers came on time, worked efficiently and did a clean job.

We were very pleased with the service that JW provided. They were prompt in providing an estimate as well with the actual move. The crew was extremely professional and friendly - and they did a great job in keeping our living area clean (covering the floor and wearing booties over their workboots while in our living area). The finished the job quickly - and the owner called several times afterwords to ensure that we were satisfied - - and we were! Highly recommended!!

The company owner, Jeff Williams, responded quickly to our initial inquiry. His personalized surveying, designing, estimating, and information was thorough and comprehensible. The work was completed on time and and most importantly the quality exceeded our expectations. The crew foreman and all workers including the electrical and asbestos removal subcontractors were on task, courteous, neat, and cleaned up after each work day. The job took 6 days including city inspections. We were very pleased with the management, skilled workers, quality of the work and equipment. We are currently enjoying the improved quality of air in our home. We would certainly use JW services again and recommend them to family and friends!

It was a fantastic experience. We knew immediately upon meeting Jeff Williams that we would like to do business with his company. He spent several hours looking at our house to help formulate his recommendations and listened carefully to our stated requirements. He came back with technical information and recommendations and literature describing his suggestions. His estimate seemed fair, as it was only $4000 more than we were quoted for a much less elaborate system 6 years earlier. JW started the job promptly, as scheduled, and completed it in the estimated time of one week. Their technicians were pleasant and the work was done without any disruptions to our life. They were clever in working around unexpected difficulties. They have since come back twice to remedy vibration and noise concerns, both times promptly and with out the typical attitude the the customer is wrong and the complaint is unfounded. They agreed with our concerns and remedied them promptly They are the best contractor, general or sub that we've ever dealt with. .

Jeff Williams methodically studied the layout of the house and thru a series of calculations devised a system to work well at this property. He took into account what areas get the most sunlight during the day, insulated walls, etc. It was not an easy installation because part of the attic is nearly inaccessible due to renovations and part of the house is flat roofed with no attic at all. A three man team handled the job over the course of approx. 3 1/2 days. They showed up promptly at 7 AM each day and were clean, courteous and very professional. There are probably companies which will do the work cheaper but I didn't think this type of system was a place to skimp and get a "system" which doesn't do the job or is poorly installed.

I contacted JW Heating to replace my air handler and condenser after a few other companies either gave me absurd estimates or just could not handle the job in the small space where my air handler was located (hallway ceiling). Jeff and his crew was pleasant from start to finish. He gave me a comprehensive and competitive bid and based off the prior Angie's List reviews, I knew I had a winner. My main concern was the small space in my hallway ceiling and the older air handler that needed to be replaced. The newer units were more efficient, and therefore larger. Most HVAC guys didn't think they could get the unit replaced and maintain the original configuration with proper airflow. But Jeff and his crew had a few ideas about the small space and how to get it working the best way possible, and with their experience, they were able to deliver. They also found that my condensing unit on the roof had the electrical wires crossed with my neighbors. They also took care of that issue and hooked up the proper wires to their respective junction boxes. I'm really glad they brought this issue up and moved forward with proper connections instead of just installing the unit the way they found it, as I'm sure many other contractors would have done. In the final inspection, I found their work to be completely thorough and professional. Their cleanup was also very thorough and comprehensive. "A+" work from these guys and I'm glad I went with them. The JW crew was pleasant to deal with every step of the way, even when I found a few scratches on my hardwood floor (and I really couldn't blame them with the small space they were working in), they dealt with the situation professionally and we came to a satisfactory solution. JW Heating & Air sets the bar when it comes to HVAC servicing. Look no further, as these guys are the best.

This was an exceptionally positive contractor experience from need consultation and planning through project completion. All appointments were conveniently scheduled for me and promptly attended. Jeff clearly explained options and tradeoffs. All work was done professionally, on time and within budget. The on-site crew was the best - a hard working team that was remarkably respectful of my home and property. They arrived on time every day, were neat and quiet and involved me with decisions in a very effective manner. Work quality and coordination was great. Follow-up communication and completion of minor "punch list" items following project completion was excellent. Overall, a very positive experience. I would use this contractor again and would recommend highly without reservation.

George came out to give us an estimate and I was very pleased with how knowledgeable he was with AC systems and installation and how he took his time to explain everything to me. It took me some time to decide which AC unit to go with, mostly because I was trying to decide if I should go with the high efficient one that would qualify me for the $1500 tax credit or another system that was highly efficient as well but also had other features that would make for a better operating AC system though did not quality for the tax credit. In the end, I chose to go with the one that did not qualify because I thought and George thought I could make up that $1500 tax credit elsewhere in the house since I am buying new appliances. It turns out kitchen appliances only give you about $100-200 back in credit. Only if we got a tankless water heater would we see that $1500 tax credit savings. But it was my fault for not doing the research on my own before committing to a system. In the end, though, I was very impressed with how fast and professional JW was with the installation, they were open to working with me on the price a bit and on hand after to answer any questions that came up. A very pleasant experience and I know I will be very happy with my system this summer and for years to come.

Absolutely brilliant. I arranged to get three bids, two of which were from Angie's List monthly, though the other "Around the World Heating and Air' were great, Jeff took the extra time to measure every room, and really think about the best way to provide heating and air. It was clear he was a craftsman, and took very VERY seriously his trade. I also had done research and the units JW Heating and Air use (Ruud) are highly rated. JW Heating and Air did all the arrangements and payment for the removal of the old furnaces as well as covered liability. that made me feel secure. The JW Heating and Air crew were incredibly accommodating and professional and polite. It was the same three guys, who clearly worked like a fine tuned machine together. Joe the "lead" made sure everything was clean and taken care of. Never did i fear something would be forgotten in the mix. My tenant who can be a bit 'high maintenance' even commented on how fast and efficient the team was. Also, having two cats in my unit they made sure at the end of the day there were still two cats. The end result was spectacular, and looking at the workmanship from the hanging of the ducts to cables / wires being secured and organized at no time did my own OCD kick in! My tenant is thrilled. I'm thrilled with the placement of the new vents which could have been a nightmare, and already i have experienced the efficiency of the work. I felt my truest testimony is how the day after they finished, at NO POINT when i thought about the job, did i think "I can't believe i just spent all this money, and i don't know if it was worth it?!" i just new i had made the 100% right choice with JW Heating and Air.

Perfectly, from the initial meeting to discuss the job through the pricing phase and then into the actual installation, which presented many small and larger problems, all solved with imagination and intelligence by the installers. All work was done promptly, cleanly, carefully and with consistent good humor and professionalism I was VERY impresssed with this company and am extremely happy with the resulting work.

Jeff showed up for the free estimate on-time. He was very helpful in explaining the services needed to meet our needs and even offered additional options to increase the comfort level in the home. Jeff was very detailed orientated, he answered all of our questions, and he stayed for 2 hours making sure that he got all the right measurements, performed the right calculations, and presented us with a quote. The reason I gave JW a 'B' was because his quote was a bit higher than other bids/companies, but there was NO comparison in service as compared to working with the other companies for bids who offered lower. Overall, we were very impressed with Jeff and his professionalism at JW. There is a reason he has been ranked so highly on Angies List.

They just did a super job. The price was reasonable, and they were very professional and prompt. They were quite knowledgeable and did great work. I was very happy and would definitely use them again.

They did a great job and I'm very happy with the new system. I learned from reading other reports, both on Angie's List and elsewhere, that the choice of HVAC products is not as important as proper installation. After talking to Jeff I was convinced that he and his crew understood the equipment and knew how to install it properly. We are very happy with the new unit and the work they did.

The house was built in 1930 and needed a very custom system installation. The owner, Jeff Williams, came out to our home and analyzed the sitiuation room by room. He told me what was possible and what was not. He was very professional and explained everything thoroughly. He went back to his office and designed a system that would work for our home, giving me options based on what was important to me and what I wanted to spend. His crew arrived on time. They were more that polite, clean and courteous. They were actually a pleasure to work with. The job was finished in the time they stated. As things came up that needed discussion, they were very patient and easy to work with. This system was just installed a week ago. So far the heat has been great and we are expecting the same for the airconditioning this summer. We feel the company is very responsible and will be there for us.

Wonderful service - George was a great salesman (very attentive to every need and willing to answer questions). Sean completed the job wonderfully - always had a smile, cleaned up well and I always felt the house was safe in their hands. I would hire them again in a minute. They weren't the cheapest quote, but they were the highest quality. Great job!

I probably shouldn't say that this company exceeded my expectations because, after reading many reviews of the company on Angie's List, I had very high expectations to begin with. I did not get any other bids because, after meeting with Jeff Williams, the company owner, I was convinced that he wants things to be done correctly and will do whatever is necessary to achieve that. Having said all of that, I was and am still highly impressed -- with everyone's punctuality all three days of the project, with the daily cleanup, with the hard work of the employees, with the initiative that the employees took in suggesting better ways to do this or that, with the professionalism and friendliness of everyone, with the neatness and actual beauty of the installation, and with the performance of the system. It is a pleasure and a hugh relief to be associated with a company of this caliber. Because I didn't get any other bids, my rating of the price is based on the reviews that I read in advance of the project, opinions of several friends, my trust in Jeff Williams, and the fact that his employees worked very hard for three days (plus a partial day making an adjustment to the system).

My heating unit went out on January 21st. I called three contractors for bids, two from Angie's List, one from prior repair and maintenance experience. JW was the third contractor firm on my list. I requested that Jeff Williams come out, and he arrived Thursday, January 28th, the morning after my call to JW. He thoroughly examined the old unit on the roof, but he also climbed into the attic and examined the existing duct work. Then he gave me a complete analysis and explanation of all work that needed to be done. His time frame for installing the new unit was excellent for me, Monday, Feb. 1st (we were also working around predicted rain storms). Jeff got the job because he went the extra mile. Monday morning the JW crew was here at 7 a.m. and worked diligently until 4:30 that afternoon .... and I had heat. Shawn and Martine ran into a couple of challenges along the way and I was prepared to spend another night without heat, but Martine stayed with it until he got the job done, and the new system worked beautifully, and much more quietly than the old unit. They protected my carpeting by laying tarps from the front door, up the stairs and in the hall ways and the clean-up was thorough; there was no evidence anyone had been in my house after they left, not even dust. I've had the new system about a month now, and I'm very pleased (love the new digital programmable thermostat) and feel confident that JW Heating & Air stands behind their warranties and services.

From the start they were professional and responsive. We delayed a long time before going ahead, but when we did (by which time the cold snap had hit) they were quick to set up the appointment and then they executed on time, in budget, and with minimal disruption to our home. They were very helpful explaining the tax benefit of the new unit, how that related to the total cost (bringing it down effectively from the $4500 outlined above). They then were very diligent in following up, and checking in with our satisfaction with the work. There was a long delay in my payment due to US mail delays but they were very patient, and very customer service orientated despite the delay involved. I grew up in england where anything to do with plumbing is famously poor in service. To get this sort of customer service from a heating contractor is fantastic. And for them to send you a satisfaction survey at the end is unheard of! I highly recommend their services.

We tried to explain to him that we did not have a lot of money and we found him through the List and we were really hoping he could explain to us what we needed to do to pass the building inspection so we could close our mortgage deal. State laws require a heating unit be installed or we would not be able to buy the house. When he came he was condescending, I 'm not sure if that was his intent. He pitched a fancy unit with ductwork that needed to be installed. We were only wanting to do the bare minimum so we could close, we had to move quickly or we would lose the house. We suggested a wall unit from home depot and he told us it would be $1,000. We told him what we needed and he said he could not help or accommodate the time-line.

The owner Jeff did a very complete walkthrough and provided a complete detail of what needed to be done. He provided two estimates, one to repair the gas furnace and another estimate to replace the gas furnace. He was very honest and up front with the pros and cons of both estimates. He provided very detailed explanation of what the project would entail and the estimated time to complete. The installation of the gas furnace was completed on time and with no problems or issues with installation. His office also mailed me the warranty and paper work in a timely manner for me to submit for a rebate by the end of the year. All the work was neat and efficient and the employees were very pleasant and professional. I highly recommend JW and I will recommend JW to my friends and co workers.

It was a great experience. The owner Jeff checked the existing system, pointed out some other minor heating and a/c items that were faulty and could be fixed, explained in detail all the options for a/c replacement, and returned my several phone calls after his initial visit to answer questions prior to my committing to the work. The installation of the rooftop air conditioner (requiring a crane) went smoothly.The compressor unit on the roof and the coil unit in the attic were then installed. It was a long hard day but the JW Heating employees kept at it and worked into the early evening (with my permission). When the existing thermostat could not be used as is (an additional electrical wire was required to accommodate the new 2-speed a/c compressor), the company offered me options (buy a new wireless unit or relocate the existing one to another wall in the room and run an additional wire) and agreed to return to relocate the existing one at no additional charge, which they did promptly another day. All work was neat and efficient and the employees pleasant. Highly recommend the company. In fact I called them a month later to repair a heater and a different employee provided the same excellent service.

First we met with Jeff of JW Heating to determine the best replacements for two old furnaces in the duplex. He checked out the old furnaces, measured each apartment completely then explained our options in great detail. Having met with several other companies previously, and most impressed with JW we made a contract. Jeff was also amenable to making certain changes in the "boilerplate" language of the contract. Then the work began on time with the asbestos removal (and proper disposal), followed by the removal of the old furnaces and finally the installation of the new furnaces and ducts. The work went smoothly and efficiently and I can't say enough about Martin and Sean, the men who performed the installation quickly, quietly, professionally and with good humor. They arrived on time every day, left the apartments clean at the end of each day and Jeff checked in regularly to ensure that the work was being done properly. Once the job was complete they cleaned everything and were followed up by a crew that removed the last of the debris. This was an excellent experience and our apartments are warm and snug just in time for winter.
