Providing "easy" security and home solutions since 1978.

"I have been working with Beam since 2010. For me, they have been fantastic. Every thing I needed to buy, service or replace has been handled with transparency. They have been kind and easy to work with. I moved to another state and no problem, they are happy to cross the border and work on my new system. Of course, there is a fee, but this is fair an reasonable. I like this company. Good bunch of guys. I am guessing that if you are mean and hostile, they may be reluctant to help as any one would be. My recent service was a snap. My vacuum was blowing dirt through the exhaust system. The belief was that my system was toast and need of replacement. they sent a tech up with a replacement system, Come to find out, I just needed a new filter and voila. Saved me a few thousand dollars. They could have up/sold me but they are honest. Great bunch of folks!"

Central Vacuum Cleaners questions, answered by experts

Routine service inspections on your central vacuum cleaner help keep your vacuum running at its best while helping to avoid costly repairs. It’s best to schedule service inspections every two to three years for a professional central vacuum service to examine your unit. If you have several pets in your home or have a lot of dirt and dust, it’s best to schedule your inspections every one to two years.

Central vacuums can offer huge time savings and an easier way to keep your home clean and even improve the air quality inside your home. While it is a high upfront cost compared to a freestanding vacuum cleaner, it can offer so much convenience and performance over many years, which may make it worth the investment if you can budget for it.

Most home warranties cover either home appliances or home systems, and some cover both. Appliance packages will usually include protection for all kitchen appliances, like refrigerators, ovens, stoves, built-in microwaves, and dishwashers, with some covering washing machines and dryers. Systems-only plans normally cover the plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, as well as most of the components. Combination plans cover the major appliances in addition to home systems.

No. Only the hose or the attachments are portable in a central vacuum system. A portable vacuum is a standalone model like a stick, canister, or upright. A central vacuum system is defined by a central power unit, which is installed in one place like an AC unit, and the connected network of piping to funnel the suction.

It can be difficult to know right away if your central vacuum is clogged since it operates quietly compared to regular vacuums. However, there are a couple of signs you can look for. If you feel like it’s losing suction or isn’t cleaning effectively, then there’s likely a clog somewhere.

Make sure you turn the vacuum on and feel the end of the hose handle. If you don’t feel any suction, then you’re dealing with a clog in the hose. You can see if the clog is further down in the system by attaching the hose to each outlet until you find the one with the least amount of suction.
