Budget Electric

The service turned out fine. It wasn't for the price that they said, and they weren't explicit in saying that the electrical panel they would replace had to be the secondary electrical panel. I wanted them to replace my primary electrical panel, and so it ended up costing a lot more than what they had quoted. It seems to me, that they should have said secondary panels only in the quote, but they didn't. The price may be fine, but that is not what the ad was all about. The work was good, but I didn't like being blind sided by the fact that what was on the big deal of Angie's List is not what I got. The guy who came out to give me the estimate said that the deal was for secondary panel and not the primary panel. When the electrician showed up, he said he was planning on the secondary panel, and so, obviously there was no communication between the estimator, and the electrician. They didn't clean up after themselves.

They didn't respond to angie's list emails. So I had to call to get an appointment - that worked well. The person that arrived could not even install an outdoor wall light - though I have that done before from Angie's list or others. Also I had specified on my email that that was what the project was. The electrician said they would get back to me, and haven't. Update from May 2014 I waited about a month after the tech came, who took detailed pictures of the job and told me they would call me to schedule an appointment. I never got a call. I called and got a message, so I left a message to ask them to call me. They did not return my call. I called a month later, and set up an an appointment. I made it clear 2 times that this was for an outdoor light install on a wall and they should bring the appropriate tools. The woman assured me that she understood. The same guy showed up and said he didn't have a drill! I'm beyond explanation on this one. It's like asking someone to install a pipe, but he doesn't have any pipes! Wow! Good luck if you use them.

Despite repeated requests they never returned an estimate even though they said they had one coming "by tomorrow" at one point.

Went great, installed everything as promised and brought the wiring up to code so it would pass inspection

He was well qualified and promptly fixed the incorrectly wired circuit, and explained the problem. I'd definitely use him again in the future.

First time made an appointment, and they didn't show. Called back to make another appointment, and informed that them at the time of reschedule that the service man need to bring a 4' fluorescent fixture with him to install. He went to the wrong address today, and he finally showed up without the parts. Said he would have to order them and come back at a later time.

Initially difficult to set up an appointment, they would not return my call initially but then we finally set up, they came and I have 3 different jobs, they took care of 1, another 1 required my giving some lights which I haven’t done yet. So basically we have to fix 1, tell me what was wrong with the 2nd. And the 3rd one they did not take care of. They said we will set up an appointment later in the week, they will send me a quote what it would cost for that work and that’s where it ended. I called them several times, they promise me I will be receiving a quote the very same day, after a week went by and still no quote and then whenever I called they were not in the office and I still have actually that job open. And my plan was to call Angie’s List LLC to see if they would recommend another company locally to do that. If you would help me with that, we will kill 2 birds with 1 stone. The one and only time they came out and took care of the things was on the Feb 17th. They are not very responsive, if you leave a message they are not very responsive in calling back. When the guy was here he took care of things.

It was great! I have no complaints. I even kept his number.

I was disappointed that I couldn't get the outlet. I don't know whether or not it is standard procedure to bring a saw, but it would seem like a good idea. Reversing the switches went fine. I asked for several estimates but it's been weeks, and I haven't received them. Maybe they went to spam?

At the time work was done excellent, however now we get to the issue. I have tried to contact Budget by phone and e-mail for 2 months to arrange for more work and I cannot reach them. I think they are out of business. The Supervisor I spoke with gave me an alternative phone number that also went unanswered. I have called 3 times and left voice mails and mailed twice. So unfortunately I give them a “F” for this. Tech was a little late but it was not an issue. I was very disappointed that they did not return my calls or mails, I even asked them to contact me to tell me that they were not interested in doing more work at my home and I have not received any call back. I have been using Angie’s list for 1.5 years and have received overall good service except for Budget Electric and the issue I explained.

Technician was extremely friendly and professional and took care to make sure I was satisfied with his work before he left. I requested they call me before coming and they did. Also setting the appt. for the service was easy and met my expectations completely. The cost was a little too high but the service was so good that I just didn't mind paying for it. I will definitely use this provider again.

it went splendidly. The young man was professional, informative, friendly and knowledgeable. did the job perfectly.

This was a 2-1/2 month process of trying to get Budget Electric to return my E-mails and phone calls. I started recording when I left messages so I'd have a record of my attempts at getting someone to take the job. They finally sent an electrician who showed up late, and only "scoped" out what the job would entail. I had expected him to show up ready to work because I'd already sent E-mails detailing the project. Instead, I got an estimate via E-mail days later, and then had to wait for the electrician to show up. He stood me up twice (I'd already taken days off work both times w/o having him show.) I finally asked Budget Electric to send another electrician who showed up on Feb.3rd. That gentleman was courteous and completed the job. However, he cut the space for the outlet box too large (left gaps around the switch panel), set the outlet box in crooked so the switch plate sat at an angle on the wall, and didn't fix a celing light that continued to go out, after he was gone. The next day, I repaired the outlet box and straigthened it, I spackled the gaps around the switch plate, and replaced the ceiling lamp (problem solved.) Overall, working with Budget Electric was the most frustrating experience I've ever had with a contractor. I've since worked with an Angie's List mechanical company who showed up on the date promised, and even called twice when their mechanic was running late. That company demonstated what customer service means. For future electrical jobs I will not work with Budget Electric.

On December 6, 2013 I signed up for the deal. Finally first week in January an estimator came to look at what has to be done. He promised someone would be here within two days. Finally on February 8 another another estimator came out. This was on a Saturday. He ask us if he could come Sunday the 9th. Well, he never showed. Today is February 17th. No phone calls, nothing. Can I get my $49.00 back? What you think? What kind of business is this?

They replaced the panel as well as another circuit. They also recommended additional work and as I followed up to schedule the work, they completely stopped responding. I’ve since moved on to other projects. B- overall. The quality of the work has been fine (they even replaced a breaker that wasn’t functioning perfectly), but the follow-through and professionalism needs some work. I’d work with them again, assuming they could explain what happened.

They were wonderful. I also had them do extra work and I paid them a bit extra.

Switched out old plugs for new, added 2 outdoor plugs.

Update- 6/25/14- Still waiting for Budget to get the approval from the city. I have been notified by the city that my permit is going to be expiring and hasn't received final approval. Budget came and I was sleeping, they never rang the bell and just left. I was told by the lady in the office that she would get it taken care of. I never heard back. Every time I try to call them today the message machine cuts me off, like their screening the calls. My permit through they city is going to be expiring in 3 business days. This was work that was supposed to have been done in January. Now I dont know what I will do if my permit runs out.

They came out I called them to let them know the man never showed up, she called back and said she couldnt get ahold of him and was suppose to call me back but never called back.

After waiting for more than two hrs. bec/ delay from a previous job, husband decided job wasn't really needed after all. We don't blame the company at all for the delay as all jobs are unique and delays should be expected. The serviceman was very understanding and was a pleasure to deal with/ Would definitely consider him for future work/

I was willing to provide the company a reasonable time limit of 7 days to get to my house to do the work. Apparently the service provider was too busy and was unable to return my calls for 2 days or agree to get my work done on the first date I had requested.

My only issue was that they did not notify me they were coming. I like to use the phone instead of the internet as I do not go to the computer every day.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it turned out to be okay. I did not ask him to provide any service, but I got information and tried to do it on my own. One GFI plug still does not work so I don't know what the trouble is. The guy was nice and professional. I probably should have let him do the work, but I did not, so that is my fault. He did call and change the time of our appointment.

I asked for an estimate for some additional work to be done but never received a follow-up.

Mike was a little late - a bit outside of the two hour time window but no big deal. It was just after the holidays and they were quite busy. He was very personable which is always a plus. My ceiling light was not working - every time I screwed a bulb in it would sizzle, pop and then go out. Mike figured out the problem right away and insulated the wires - voila fixed! He also installed a new light fixture and went the extra mile by anchoring it to the ceiling. I have old knob & tube wiring in the house (1920's technology) which means there was no box in the ceiling to attach the fixture to. My old ceiling light was hanging on only by the wires, potentially a very dangerous situation. The job was done quickly and as an extra benefit Mike explained that there was a 48 warranty on his work - what more could you ask for? I couldn't be more pleased and would definitely use Budget Electric's services again.
