Budget Electric

Sergio and I spoke a few times on the phone and we set up some times for him to come and look at all the work I needed to have done. He missed several appointments and is very hard to contact him on the phone. Once he did show up he did good work. He left half the work undone and I have not been able to reach him since.

They were fine until they missed the appointment.

The original work done required some extra labor, they gave me a quote and I accepted. I took off of work to meet them for the appointment. After I had waited for several hours, I finally called only to be told that the tech didn't have time to come out that day. I made a different appointment on a Saturday, as I could not take additional days off of work. They are over two hours late, and I have left several voice mails for them to call back. My living room is torn apart, and if they do not want this job, then I would appreciate if they would at least tell me instead of giving me the runaround.

Update: After my first review, the owner contacted me. He scheduled a date to ensure my remaining outside light will work and is sending a check for the overcharge. I was impressed by his immediate response and his professionalism. I will post again when the services are complete. He showed up on time. I was told he did not have a masonry drill to install it where I wanted it and would have to reschedule. To make it easy, I asked if he could replace an exterior light fixture with the outlet. It was one of a pair of lights and I didn't need both. He said yes. I went to the garage to ensure we got the circuit breaker off. I don't know what happened but my Dish network shorted out - didn't know it at the time. Later I went to use the remaining light and saw he had disconnected it. It would have been nice to be told. The service provider was nice and he was prompt but I had to get my TV system fixed and now I have a light that doesn't work. In addition, he told me he needed to collect $129 - those were his instructions. I said I thought it went through an Angie's List charge and he said, "No". So I paid. Guess what? I just got my card statement and there is a $129 charge on it. Now I have to straighten that out as well.

The provider was pleasant and professional. The service charges of $79.00 was applied to each task. Thus, I paid $240.00 plus the initial cost of $49.00 for a total of $289.00. The special included a $100 discount, so my out of pocket cost was $189.00. These 3 tasks were done in less than 1 hour. If I had paid someone else for a service charge plus an hourly rate, I probably would have paid less. UPDATE: One of the co-owners called me 11/17/14 and stated that after she read my review she realized that I had been overcharged. She promised and I received a check for the difference between what I paid and what I should have paid. According to her explanation, the individual who did the work might have been confused about Budget Electric rates versus the rates of his previous employer.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I was very unhappy. It was partially confusing to me. They came in and gave me a $500 estimate for fixing something electrical in our family room. They never called me. They kept giving me different estimates. The electricians may have been fine but the woman in the office was brain dead. Originally it was supposed to be $300-$400 and then it was $800. She was going to have them call me. It got to be a mess and I said I didn't want to deal with these people so I didn't deal with them at all. The $49 was down the tubes but that was all right. I didn't get any service for the money that I paid. The management of their front office was abysmal.

I didnt have the services completed due to my financial situation however he was very professional. He came out for a quick consultation and I really enjoyed and liked his service. He was prompt and thorough.

Scheduling the appointment with budget electric was fine but they cancelled hours before the appointment. I took off work just for the appointment. They never called back to reschedule and I never called them and ended doing the work myself.

The guy came and check the operarion of the unit and cannot pinpoint any thing that cause the burnout of the flood light bulbs so fast. The problem was never resolved.

First, please don't just take my word for it, check out the F rating this company gets on the Better Business Bureau website. It is well deserved. The only shame is that they were sent to my home by my home warranty company, whose screening of contractors isn't quite as thorough as the marketing materials might lead you to believe. We really liked the man they sent over. He was clear in what he saw as the problem and this aligned with what another electrician (prior to the warranty company sending Budget) had said. The problem is when I had to run to the doctor (I was sick that week) they took the opportunity to quickly wrap things up, get a check from my wife and leave. Problem number 1: they didn't label the breakers on the panel but they did cover up the old labels (so worse than doing nothing, really). Then, to top it all off they left without providing an invoice. In the week that followed I called them repeatedly about both the invoice and finishing the job (labeling the breakers) and never once was a call returned.It was only when my warranty company called them did they suddenly, in minutes, send the invoice. Coming back to finish the job? Not happening. Back to radio silence after that one email. So while they are nice people they seemed to realy earn their BBB F rating (at least so far)

Bad in the sense that I expected from buying their Big Deal the resulting work was that Budget was to re-haul or redo the existing system in such a way that with minimal of replacements of parts and expense it would work again safely. According to my tenants, the effect was the opposite. Subsequent visits by a broker, handyman, licensed electrician resulted in remarks around or about having to redo the job. Notwithstanding my requests, I was not given clear written specific comments. If I had I would have forwarded same to Budget and to Angie's List. However, by glancing at subpanel and talking to tenants our layman's impression is that such subpanel may work minimally, but may not be safe.

In December I purchased an Angies List Deal for a electrical system check and an included service call. Over 6 months and 5 failed appointments later the service technician finally showed up at 12:50 for my appointment window 10am- 12pm. Our electrical system in the house is 40 years old. Over the years before we bought the house it had many poorly done upgrades to the house wiring. Now the system is old and we have out grown the electrical panel. Budget Electric has recommended a system tune-up and rewiring of many circuits. Budget Electric gave me a good quote for a tune-up on our panel and clean up all the bad wiring done in the house. The only thing is the punctuality and communication from the company is poor.

I was not as pleased with them as I could have been. When they came out to do the inspection, they said they were going to order some under cabinet lights and that they would schedule me for the next week, when they came in. They didn't call, so I called them and they said they'd see me later on that week. When they came, they had not ordered the lights. They just went to Home Depot and got them. That was a little annoying. Then the second part was that they said they wanted to replace some lights instead of repair the ballasts of some, because it would last longer. I think they only replaced one and they repaired the other ones, which is not what I had contracted with them to do. I had a houseful of kids and wasn't in a position to bicker over it. They told me they would do one thing and they did something else.

They did a great job and were very knowledgeable.

I was very happy with them. Their phone numbers were confusing, and one was an emergency number which I kept calling, and nobody answered. They were hard to get a hold off, but they came promptly, and I am certainly going to call them again. I had to keep rescheduling because of my health, and they were fine about that, and very understanding. They made several trips here and they were always on time.

Through email with his assistant, I scheduled a time and was told he would arrive between 10-12. He did not arrive until a bit after 12:30 and told me he was not told those time constraints by his assistant, only that he'd arrive arrive after he was done with his first appointment. Ok, no problem but I'm glad I didn't leave to meet the friend I was going to have a quick lunch with. He began the work on the outlets. I asked if he knew I wanted the other projects done as well since he only showed up with materials to change out the switches and outlets. (The other projects included the replacing of a flourescent light in the kitchen and new track lighting in the living area. I decided to add new lighting in the downstairs bathroom to replace the flourescent lighting there as well). He told me his assistant never told him I wanted the other projects done. At this point there seemed to be very poor communication between his assistant and himself. Michael was a very fun, easy person to chat with. At the end of the work period, we talked for a bit and scheduled him to return in two week's time to do the rest of the work. I sat directly across from him at the table and wrote the date in my calender. He said it would be around the same time of day, the 10-12 time frame. Michael never showed up. No phone call, no return email after I emailed him at the addrress on his webpage. When Michael left that day I walked into my closet and found the light switch hanging out of the wall by the wires. I was able to chase him down before he left so he could finish it. He also flipped an upside down switch I found. Subsequently I have found two more switches that are upside down, an outlet that wasn't replaced at all, and realized the kitchen outlet that was suppposed to be GFI is in fact NOT GFI. Now I have to find a new electrician to complete the other projects I wanted done by Budget Electric and also to correct and complete the work that I've already paid Budget Electric for. It's been weeks and I never heard a word from Budget Electric. I'm obviously very disappointed, especially because Michael was such a pleasant person. It makes me upset to give this review but he left work incomplete and was a no-show.

Was supposed to show up between 1 and 3PM At 2:20PM I called to see if they were still coming, receptionist could not get ahold of the tech. I called back at 3PM and she had not heard and re dialed him. He claimed he forgot and he was working on another project I understand things happen, but I called twice, they did not call me and I find it unacceptable since I rearranged my schedule today that I was not nofified electrician could not make it today.

I forgot about the Big Deal after I purchased it as I did not have a project pending. But the company has never contacted me to schedule an appointment, so that did not help. Thanks!

Tried to reach out too them only to find out that they took my money and eliminated the deal i signed up for. they said they would give me just the 49.00 on future service. this is not what i expected to happen and i will be very reluctant to accept any more offers via Angies list.

No show at schedule time/date.

The work was performed as per the invoice but when I had the work inspected by another electrical company they discovered numerous violations that require me to call the electrical inspector.

Seemed fine until the end when they didn't come back and finished up the things they said.

Scheduling was very difficult, and it took a long time to have them actually do the work. Furthermore, they did a poor job with the overhaul because we had another electrician who found mistakes with Budget's work. Ultimately, we weren't very pleased with the experience.

Outstanding. Showed up promptly, and quickly diagnosed the problem. He changed out the breaker and added two switches so I could control my pool lights. My wife had some concerns about our Master Bedroom lights and he was able to address them and resolve her concerns. I felt like I received terrific value from the company, and will be calling them first in the future. My only complaint was that I gave the scheduler notes on the call (bring switches) but the information wasn't passed on to the electrician. Luckily, he had the parts in his truck.

I bought a package for upgrading an electrical panel. A technician came out to make an estimate and found our panel needed more upgrading than was covered by the package. We decided to move forward. The technician was late due to a previous job running over but he working efficiently once he arrived. The job was done to our satisfaction and we've had no electrical issues since.
