NEVER has anything been so bad. I decided to purchase from here after reading some good reviews on Yelp, and also because I like supporting local business. But - what a disaster. First, after telling me they had the microwave in stock, they said it was damaged and I had to take the floor model. Then, they wouldn't let my contractor pick up the items, saying they needed 24 hour notice - something that they had never told me. This set my construction schedule back a day. When I called to speak with the general manager about it, he made excuse after excuse, and hardly apologized at all, blaming it all on me. When I said I had gone there based on Yelp reviews and would have to write my own comments on Yelp, the general manager (Cory) yelled at me over the phone: "YOU GO AHEAD AND YELP US! AND FOR THAT, I WON'T EVEN LET YOUR CONTRACTOR PICK UP YOUR STUFF TOMORROW. JUST GO AHEAD AND YELP US! I thought this was bad until the day the stove was installed and I noticed that the oven door wouldn't close. I called the manufacturer to see what their return policies were in this situation and they confirmed they would accept a return in this situation. So I went back down to the store, asked Cory about an exchange and he said no, because the manufacturer wouldn't take the stove back. So I called the manufacturer again while in the store and Cory yelled at the poor service rep that she didn't even know her own company's policies. When I tried a little escalation of my own to see the result (I should have known better) he yelled at me to get out of his store, which I did immediately. Then he came out and said he had called the police and they were on their way. I waited for the police and even called them and they said they didn't have a call in, so.... he's a bully as well. (He probably knew there was no basis for a police visit.) I was finally told that the manufacturer had agreed to accept the return and would exchange for a new one, but Direct Appliance told me I would have to carry it into the house myself. (I'm a 5'3", 120 lb senior citizen - so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to do that.) I also called the company headquarters and talked to the owner's wife, who backed up her GM all the way, saying that my contractor must have been at fault, or the manufacturer was at fault. Bottom line, they accepted no responsibility and if the manufacturer hadn't agreed to take the return, I would have been stuck. As it is, I've decided to deal with the manufacturer's customer repair service simply because my contractor will be finished with the job by the time the new stove comes in and I can't imagine how I would get the old stove out to the street and the new one in after it's delivered. Bottom line - if you deal with this company and a problem arises, you are pretty much on your own. After they have your money, they don't care about any of your problems with what they have sold you. And the general manager could use some very serious anger management training.
