Salesman Phillip came on time to the appointment. He took a basic look at the window and skylight openings we wanted to have dressed with shutters. He went over what made Danmer Shutters a quality product and company to employ. There was no pressure and he was very informative. I told him, I just wanted shutters that would match the shutters that were installed by the previous owner. He came up with an estimate for the 2 skylight shutters (14 ft up) and 2 windows shutters (13 feet up) made from their thermalite material which comes with a federal tax credit. When he came up with the number, I was taken aback because I had previously gotten quotes for as much as half his asking. I told him, I would have to think about it before proceeding. A few days passed and I had another well known and reputable and quot;Angie's Listand quot; Shutter company come out. Their over the phone estimate was 30% cheaper and I was hopeful when they came to do a measurement. When this installer came by, he told me that the skylights and windows were too high and he had to walk away from the job. He also told me that if he were to continue with the installation, he would have raised the price by another $300 (which would bring it closer to the Danmer quote w/Federal Tax Credit). He said maybe I should try Danmer Shutters. When a quality Angie's List Shutter company recommends another, that was my cue. I realized that my project took a special company that was experienced and confident enough to install shutters that were over 13 ft above the ground. So I called Salesman Phillip to place a deposit. Phillip emailed the contract, snail mailed a color chip sample, and made appointments for measurement and installation. I appreciated the information and reminders for measurement through email and phone call. The email illustrated the Danmer Process and what to expect. Day of the measurement came and the installer assessed that he could not personally do the job because of the height. I was discouraged, but the installer made amends. He arranged for another installer, Steve, to come out in 3 hours. That is service. When Installer Steve came by, he courteously and quietly took measurements of all the windows. He was confident and professional. He also earned points for doing it quietly enough to keep my 3 month old daughter from waking up. A couple days later, Salesman Phillip called to tell me the skylight shutters needed to be changed to a lighter hardwood to ensure safety for the skylight. Although the material is more expensive, Phillip took the hit on commission to accommodate the order. I appreciate his selflessness and willingness to see it as a learning opportunity in his craft. Day of the installation came and installer Ken came instead of Steve. He came on time and installed the shutters. He came up with a way to move a chandelier that was in front of a window he had to cover. He strung it to a stair rail to allow him to install. He finished the job in 2.5 hours and we were delighted with the results. We loved our shutters. One of the other things that I appreciated about Danmer was the timing of the project. If the original appointment was day 1, the measurement would be day 11, the installation would be day 25. All the other companies said it would take a minimum of 6 weeks. Another thing I appreciate is their professionalism. I was never in need of information. Danmer walked me through the entire process from sales to measurement to installation. When dealing with Danmer, you are dealing with a company that has a lot of checks and balances. When one installer couldn't do it, he arranged for another. When the quote came over budget, they accommodated. When the original installer could not make it, another came. They did this in their estimated time. They respected my time and that is huge.

It went well. It was a little too expensive at that time and if I'm going to do it, I would have use them. They just teach me a lot, was very informative and not pushy. They are very knowledgeable, weren't pushy, spent the time going over everything with me, it's a little out of my price range at that time.
