Strategos Medical Group

First of all, I want to state that I have very conflicted feelings about posting this about Dr. Strategos.  The doctor is as nice a man as he can be.  However, I feel a duty to report his shortcomings to future patients. He was my PCP since 2005. I think if you never have any serious problems, you will not realize that he does not do the best job in diagnosing. I will give two examples. My significant other had been coughing for weeks. I insisted he go see the doctor. They had him see the NP, which was fine, she prescribed antibiotics, which did not take care of the coughing.  Being a stubborn man, it took me another few weeks to get him to return.  This time he saw Dr. Emmanuel, who did a chest x-ray and said it was clear, and attributed the coughing to something else, can't remember, but rather benign. To make a long story short, I had to call 911 four days later, he had pneumonia, was intubated, and spent five days in the hospital.  Second experience: last fall I called the office and asked if I could come in, I was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pains. I was told  they had no openings and to go to an urgent care office. I am 66 years old  and was surprised that just given those symptoms, they would refer me out. I asked the person on the phone to go check again with the doctor, and she returned to the phone and again it was the same, I was to go to urgent care. I did, they said their office lacked the equipment to diagnose me,and I spent the day in the ER (my first ever). I never went back to Dr. Strategos after that.  I just this month saw a new doctor, and she was surprised by a few things I told her, such as why I had not had a pneumonia vaccination at my age,and  that I was prescribed a not so desirable BP medication, etc. Unfortunately, I am hearing so many other people telling me similar stories, mostly about misdiagnosis, but I can't tell them here as they are second-hand. I can just say that they are reliable people. I hope  that Dr. Emmanuel makes some changes, he's a really nice man, but I had to move on.  We can't take such chances anymore with our health.

I have been going to Dr. Strategos for several years and I have never found a more knowledgeable, competent physician.  He has helped me through some major bronchial problems, GERD, and other issues.  He always listens to what I have to say and takes my thoughts into account, but we have an agreement that if he says I have to do something, I do it.  Once I had a thing on my lip and he took a quick look at it, was pretty sure what it was and referred me to the dermatologist, who confirmed his diagnosis and took care of the problem.  Another time I had read that some tests were usually skipped and asked him about them.  We talked it over, he checked a couple out, and ordered the tests.  He didn't just arbitrarily say no or yes; he evaluated the request, current information available at the time, and acted accordingly.  And he keeps up with new information in the medical community and does research on it and brings it to his patients to keep us in the best condition we can be in - as long as we follow his advice and recommendations.  I could not find or recommend a better primary care - internist who is knowledgeable, considerate, professional and kind.

Dr Emmaunal Strategos, is my primary care doctor.. he cordinates all my treatments with all my doctors.. he oversees my DVT, Diabetes, Psoriasis, Arthritis, Chronic Fatique/Fibromyalgia.. and has been taking fine care of me since 1998.. I am a full time project for him, he is the greatest!!!H Penny McCoy
