I received the estimate the week before the job started. Nothing in writing. I thought I asked enough questions to understand exactly what would be done. I was not sure until the date the service started whether they would break through the exterior wall immediately to replace the kitchen sink supply lines or if they would try to blow out the lines first. The estimate would not be reduced if I removed the blowing lines step. Upon job start, I opted for breaking through wall without blowing out lines since it would save lots of time. When I scheduled the service, I opted to not have the pipes replaced behind the shower in an interior plaster wall. I was not having problems in those lines. The tub already had an access panel in the interior wall.
I recommend that Stan's provide written estimates. Because nothing was in writing, Ricardo forgot that he provided two estimates, with a higher amount for breaking though the kitchen wall. He arrived with the permit to do the major work with the lower estimate amount on it and had a contract prepared at the lower estimate. Had I not been honest, I don't think he would have remembered that he provided a higher estimate option. I signed the contract as written and saved a few hundred dollars.
The work started at the time that was scheduled. Unfortunately, I didn't walk through the job again to cover my expectations that we discussed the week before. I think I could have saved them some time had I done this. My expectation from the estimate process was for the old plumbing valves to be left sticking out of the walls under the sinks and toilets. They punched through the floors to provide new PEX supply lines and new valves to each toilet and sink. It turned out they cut all the valves off at the walls. I never asked why.
The cutting through the kitchen wall turned out to be double the work they expected since the plumbing went up on both sides of the support post. They honored what they said during the estimate process and stayed until the job was completed at 9:10 PM.
Except as noted, the job was completed as I expected. The shower farthest from the water heater now gets hot water in one minute with the valve opened at the same volume level. Who knew that replacing the lines would mean I would be saving water.
I recommend Stan's plumbing. I have history for both supply and sewer lines. I feel I received honest assessments and discussion of options. The work was well done.
attic/crawl-space to the different areas of our house. He, (William),
offered to patch, (less expensive), or replace the bad segment. We went
with replace. The poor guy was up there for 2hrs in 120 degree heat. His
work was professional, neat, and clean. We;ve used Stan's before
and most definitely will do so, if needed again. As to my B rating for price,
this is our 1st home and I'm unfamilar with going rates. Would've liked to
have paid less, but their quick service was worth every penny
No luck. Decided this morning to call Stan's to arrange an appointment. I was able to have someone come within 20 minutes! The man arrived, was patient while I secured our beast, listened to my whining, proceeded to the bathroom, tested the situation, then went to the truck and brought back the "snake". In 5 minutes, we had quickly draining water! Evidently, the amount of hair my teen son has lost over the last few years, has been found! This is the 4th time I have used Stan's and I am so glad I can count on them!
I received a call on Tuesday morning to confirm my availability and the plumber arrived promptly at the appointed time. The kind plumber even explained to me what was wrong with the faucent handle. I can now easily repair it next time. I was so afraid it was dripping from inside the wall. Regarding the toilet tank, not only was the bolt tightened beyond my ability, but the tank was also balanced before being done. No more dripping in the bathroom.
The surprise I received was that the simple services (to them, not me!) were completed for the basic fee of $69.
We needed a plumber to remove our old toilets and install our new Toto toilets. I had a good feeling just talking with the front desk to inquire about service and price. Stan, the owner, came to our home himself with an assistant. I wasn't home but my husband, really enjoyed Stan and felt we were getting excellent service. During the switch of the toilets it was discovered that our builder had shoddily installed them and the concrete actually gave way and disappeared into a black abyss. The men went right out and got equipment needed to fix the hole in the floor so the toilet could actually be secured to something! They didn't even charge for the labor on that, just the parts. It turned out that they needed to come back the next day to complete the job and complete it, they did. Stan was not present the second visit, but the 2 young men did a great job. All in all it was a very, very good experience and I am so glad I had Angie's List to search for comments from other homeowners. I had called HPS and Gundlach's for a quote and both were $200-$300 for the same job. I will definitely call Stan's again for any plumbing issue that arises! I felt he went above and beyond the call of duty. Oh, and the two toilets we had removed, Habitat for Humanity was happy to pick them up! Win-win situation!
