I received the estimate the week before the job started. Nothing in writing. I thought I asked enough questions to understand exactly what would be done. I was not sure until the date the service started whether they would break through the exterior wall immediately to replace the kitchen sink supply lines or if they would try to blow out the lines first. The estimate would not be reduced if I removed the blowing lines step. Upon job start, I opted for breaking through wall without blowing out lines since it would save lots of time. When I scheduled the service, I opted to not have the pipes replaced behind the shower in an interior plaster wall. I was not having problems in those lines. The tub already had an access panel in the interior wall.
I recommend that Stan's provide written estimates. Because nothing was in writing, Ricardo forgot that he provided two estimates, with a higher amount for breaking though the kitchen wall. He arrived with the permit to do the major work with the lower estimate amount on it and had a contract prepared at the lower estimate. Had I not been honest, I don't think he would have remembered that he provided a higher estimate option. I signed the contract as written and saved a few hundred dollars.
The work started at the time that was scheduled. Unfortunately, I didn't walk through the job again to cover my expectations that we discussed the week before. I think I could have saved them some time had I done this. My expectation from the estimate process was for the old plumbing valves to be left sticking out of the walls under the sinks and toilets. They punched through the floors to provide new PEX supply lines and new valves to each toilet and sink. It turned out they cut all the valves off at the walls. I never asked why.
The cutting through the kitchen wall turned out to be double the work they expected since the plumbing went up on both sides of the support post. They honored what they said during the estimate process and stayed until the job was completed at 9:10 PM.
Except as noted, the job was completed as I expected. The shower farthest from the water heater now gets hot water in one minute with the valve opened at the same volume level. Who knew that replacing the lines would mean I would be saving water.
I recommend Stan's plumbing. I have history for both supply and sewer lines. I feel I received honest assessments and discussion of options. The work was well done.
