Problems with the landscaping:Contracted for 84 plants, only received 47, and did not plant what we wanted--he gave us no options to plants and placement, or did not receive what he told us we would have. He did return $425.00 for missing plants after the person who recommended interceded for us. Planted queen palms that toppled over with first wind. Costs $80 to have them specially staked by gardener. Contracted to place drain west side of house--the pictures below show the total drain that was under 2 inches of dirt. We had to remove a non-functional concrete curb to remove the drain to see why it was not draining--it was plugged shut on far end, and the open end filled with mud on the first sprinkler run. We developed a mud lake in our back yard. Adding to the mud lake and drainage problems, the back lawn was graded to channel the drainage away from the drain as the flower bed curb blocked the drainage to the non-funtional drain he placed. Our grass is dying in one part of the yard and we have the mud puddle in the other part. When my daughter and I discussed our wishes with him, he would nod and agree verbally, then do whatever he wanted to do, including planting Azaleas knowing we had a new puppy and Azaleas are highly toxic to dogs. My daughter and I are extremely displeased with the work he did. I am usually not this critical but I feel we were treated unresponsibly as well as being charged for sub-standard work. We now face another $2000.00 if not more to correct the problems he created.
Description of Work: Contracted to landscape back yard after pool put in including installing new sprinkler system, grading lawn plus drainage, planting grass, and making flower beds with curbing, and planting trees. Plants and trees contracted were 4 redwoods, 4 queen palms, 9 Iceberg rose bushes (we asked for red), 26 Gardenias and Azaleas (we received 2 camillias and 10 azaleas), 3 giant birds of paradise, 2 small birds of paradise (substituted unknown huge blade-leaf bushes that we did not like and told him so, he refused to remove them and get what we contracted ) , 15 Mexican heathers and sociality garlic (we got 11 of something else--not sure what they are), 20 Star Jasmine(we received 14), 1 Pygmy [sic] date palm. He required $2000.00 deposit, and was paid $3080.00 at the end.
