Jack Duncan General Contractor

Well, after reading other reviews, I guess I'm not the only one whom he swindled. I gave him a deposit of $2400 (50%) for job on April 30th, 2016 for 2 patio covers... well today is Sept 25th... still no patio coverings. His lack of communication is staggering. On the day (in July) he was supposed to show up (his third chance), I swung by his office on Chester and there was a guy "cleaning it out". I threatened to turn him in to the BBB and Contract Lic. Board, then he text back. Stories of illness, death in the family, workers quiting only go so far. If it's that bad, retire. But, there are stories here of him taking even more money from people even after all this... Please beware, If you are reading this, you have already read many more to get here... Don't do it, Stop. Yoiu will not get what you want, you will get nothing but headache. He actually just text me with another "next week" excuse...

I won't recommend anyone jack Duncan he is POS and liar give him deposit to build my patio almost 2 months and he haven't build my patio yet each time I call him he have excuse and keep telling me next time he gonna put my patio very bad service

Started off by changing hardwood to laminate. I paid for material and he only deducted for what I actually paid for material not what he had quoted for material. Employee only removed partial amount of wallpaper from window sills. He painted room. He put down the 1/2" plywood to level floor. Did as good as possible. Laid the laminate as best he could using our tools. He stopped on the stairs landing and asked Jack how to finish the job. Jack did not have an answer. While trying to find solution to landing found that the plywood was not leveled and is sagging. Told me to get the correct pieces and he would install them. Did not ever complete the removal of the wallpaper in the window sill or paint the window sill. Had to get custom pieces made to finish floor and relevel the landing.

They did painting. They poured a cement landing. I have nothing bad to say about them. He was in touch with me every step of the way. If he wasn't there, or work was delayed because of inspection he would keep me in the loop so I knew what was going on. I was able to stay in a part of the home as well. The workers were very good at working around me. I have recommended him to several others without any reservation. He was very good about staying within budget. We would go shopping and he was great about providing input.

They did a good job.

He was very prompt. When he said he was going to do something he did it. His workers were quite adequate and did their jobs well. The roofer did an especially great job. He also cleaned up after he was finished with each job.
