The head guy said if we damage your stuff we only have to pay you sixty cents per pound, not the value, unless you want to buy insurance. I was never told about this and I didn't have the extra money. I would just not let them move my lamps and antiques and hope theres no major damage. I was never told by the owner, they wouldn't move open boxes, that weren't completely taped, something sticking out of boxes nor no clear bags that I had put towels and blankets in, thinking they could throw them on top of furniture. Then to top it off he refused to move the washer, dryer and refrigerator, until I had someone unhook everything. I told the owner I was a recent widow there was no mention of this. I had my dad (80+ years old) come over and unhook the appliances so they could load them. They loaded them mid way in the move and should of put it on last and they unload them last, meaning the refrigerator/freezer had been unplugged for over five to six hours. I didn't think about it then I was still moving everything. When I cooked some meat,l I got food posion and had to throw away all the food and start over ($200+).
The head guy's attitude was bad throughout the move, until the end of the day when they finished (tip was NEVER going to happen) he was trying to be nice. In front of me on brand new carpet they slide a cabinet, instead of pick it up and tore the carpet. After they left I found some of the furniture had been scratched, all on me since I didn't buy the insurance. They did one trip with three guys and two trucks in seven hours. My dad did three trips with one truck and one helper the following day, granted they did move most of the heavy furniture.
Just think this could of all been avoided, if they would of given me details or had a brochure or flyer to give all these details, which would have stopped most of these problems.

Unfortunately that made our crew late that morning.
