James always returned my calls, answered questions. The work looks great! It took longer than initially projected but that was due to weather turning bad, he was right back at it when it cleared.

Grate let me know when he was going to be there and was on time

James showed up promptly to take measurements for a new tub surround. When the day to install it came he picked it up for us and promptly went to work. The job was done quickly, and he was super polite the whole time. Because of his work ethic we had him repaint the front door, then we had him repaint our deck. Each job was done promptly and professionally. Both painting jobs had short weather delays, but he was back soon after to finish. He kept us informed if he was running late - which was rare. He also took care to clean up after each job. His prices were very reasonable, and included all materials.

James is such a nice man.  He's thorough, able, and insists on doing everything the right way.  If you're in a hurry and don't care about a quality outcome, James is not your man.  He not only did a wonderful job, he cleaned up every day like he was never even working on the house.  We were truly fortunate to meet James--and to have his help with some long-overdue repairs.

I don't believe I could have hired anyone better.  James had the work completed on time and his price was right on the estimate.  James and Dave were very professional and courteous in their work and behavior.  My family was in and out or around pretty much the whole time.  James and Dave conducted themselves like gentlemen. Both were very friendly.

At the end of each work day, they cleaned up like they were never there.  James was in contact with me every time he needed to be. He always  answered when I called or returned calls soon.  I was impressed with how much attention was given to details. He made recommendations on repairs to save money if possible. 

I have already planned projects for him to return early next spring.  I recommend him to anyone needing any home improvement completed.

For starters, James is a very nice guy. Very dependable and honest. James came out and we talked about what I needed done. He was going to call me in a couple days and discuss price and dates he could do it. I never heard back so I called him on about the fourth day. He gave me prices and an approx start date.
On the day he came to begin work, there was some confusion about what I wanted him to do. He was going to do repairs that were different than what we had talked about earlier. Maybe he has a lot going on and just got mixed up, but it was strange that he had forgotten what we talked about just a few days earlier. He replaced the weather strips and door sweeps. The back door in now very difficult to close and the materials he used just don't look very neat. Looks kind of like I did it, which is exactly why I didn't want to do it. He was initially going to adjust the striker on my front door so it would close tighter. He didn't and said that he didn't think it needed it any longer, although that was one of the main reasons I called him in the first place.
Then he picked up, installed and painted a door on a garage storage closet. When I got home, I noticed that it was the wrong type of door. I had wanted, and we had talked about, an outdoor type door with a seal and a threshold so that cold air wouldn't enter that room when the garage door was opened. He had purchased, installed and painted a plain wooded interior type door with no seals and about an inch and a half gap at the bottom. I immediatly called and told James. I was a little concerned because my wife had already paid him and I wasn't sure how this would work out. James was the ultimate professional. He recalled our conservation about the door, and immediatly took action to correct it. He purchased the other door and came to install it as soon as it was ready. Just like the other doors, the work is not perfect. I would have liked to see the trim around the door finished a little better.
Overall, I really like James. What he lacks in craftmanship, he makes up for in integrity. He spent time and money to fix my issue after he had already been paid. He could have easily just taken my money and never called me back. That being said, I probably will not use him again though. Just too many issues.

James Vealey is a very personable, competent and hard worker. He does not rush what he is doing and makes sure it is right before he starts another project. He built a door for underneath our deck and did a beautiful job. He fixed a deadbolt, tarred our roof where it was leaking, put address numbers up for us and it was a very awkward place(over some steps). He fixed a drawer and put in a threshold etc. He took two antique porch chairs home to refinish. I do not think there is anything he can't do. We feel very fortunate to have found him.

James and his assistant Dave were both very easy to work with. Both were friendly, courteous, respectful, and responsive. They were busy when I first called doing jobs repairing tornado damage in Mayflower, however James did get back with me. They both worked around my very busy schedule and got the job done in an excellent fashion and at a very reasonable price. I would not hesitate to call on them again or to refer a friend to them.

The work was done well and in a relatively short period of time. James was very responsive and explored several ways to fix the problem of the mortar separating from the upper level of bricks. His repair gave me confidence that the problem is solved. He, personally, was very personable and easy to work with. I will definitely call him again for future jobs.

He restored all of the insulation to it's proper location except for some that was too damaged by the way it had been removed to use. He provided a roll of insulation of the correct specification to replace it. All of the underside of the floor in our house is now insulated.
For the drawer, he had to essentially reinstall the drawer and include spacers to get the drawer to fit and work properly. It now works as it should.
He had to come back several timed to complete the job and always kept us informed of approximately when he would be here and would call us when he was on the way.
He was friendly and very professional throughout the entire process and we would not hesitate to call him again for any number of other tasks. If it were something he said he could do we would hire him for the task immediately.
The price for the work he performed was very fair and we would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing his services.

I had a hard time finding someone to do a small carpet repair job but JR Home Repair gladly took the job.

James arrived on time for the estimate the week before and wrote up a detailed estimate for materials and labor. We were impressed with the estimate and cost of the project as the ceiling area is a good 10' off the ground which required scaffolding and extra safety precautions. Our other estimate was 200.00 more and not much was mentioned about safety or how the overhead work was going to be completed. We gave James the go ahead to begin.
He arrived on time on the 14th to begin the installation. He had already pre-measured, cut, stained and applied the varnish coat for the beaded slats. They really look beautiful and professionally done!
Within hours he had the project completed and ready for trim whcih we handled.
