"Matt Hahn from AFS Phenix City did an outstanding job for me. He came and inspected my crawl space, which was encapsulated back in 2021. He answered all my questions, was super friendly, and was a pleasure to work with."

"They are very professional, and go above and beyond for their customers!
Mr. Klein was very helpful, came over when insurance adjuster was here, to help with questions I wouldn't of thought of.
They were always prompt, friendly, cheerful and courteous, and let me know what they were doing and why.
I have not had a problem with leakage since they fixed the roof, and would and will call them again when something need replaced or fixed in my house.

Hello! My name is Matt and I have been in the construction industry for 22 years now. I started off in Commercial and worked my way up to a Supertendent for a Commercial construction company building schools and additions to schools over 3 States. Traveling a lot brought me to the realization of what all I was missing out on with my family and kids. In Jan of 2026 I started "SBG Contracting" and I haven't looked back since! I love what I do and I enjoy getting to see the outcome of my work. If you need Fencing , Decks , Remodels , Roof Repairs , or even a ground up build , we have you covered at SBG Contracting. We would love to assist in any way possible and as always , quotes are free! God bless 🙌

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

Yes, egress windows can significantly add value to a home. By making basement and attic areas safer and more livable, they allow you to market these spaces as finished living areas, which increases your property's value. Many homeowners can recover the full installation cost, with some sources citing a return on investment of around 70%. The exact value added depends on your specific home, location, and adherence to local building codes. Beyond financial value, egress windows enhance functionality by adding natural light and comfort. They are also a crucial safety feature, often mandated by building codes to serve as an emergency exit.

Installing a window well costs anywhere from $500 to $1,500 or more. Adding an egress window and well runs about $3,900 on average. Adding a window well cover to the project can add $200 to $700. A well cover helps protect your egress windows from weather damage and keeps them clear of dirt, debris, and wildlife.

When you need new windows depends on a variety of factors, including the age of your windows, the age of your home, and the climate you live in. If you’re dealing with budget constraints, you don’t need to replace all your windows simultaneously.

When buying new windows, you should consider energy efficiency, safety, and aesthetics to choose the right window for you.

The cost of window installation depends on several factors, including the window type, size, and frame material. Labor rates, the need for custom sizing, and any required structural modifications will also influence the final price.

A good U-factor for windows is 0.30 or lower, but they can range from 0.20 to 1.20. A general rule of thumb when it comes to the U-factor is that the lower, the better.
