"I called Perdido Heating and Air to schedule an estimate on replacing my air conditioner and was surprised to hear that a free estimate could be given the same day that I called. The receptionist was more that helpful. Our system was working at the time but it was well over due for an overhaul. I thought it was very nice of the receptionist to ask if my system was working, because if it wasnt she was going to try and send someone out right away. I received bids from other companies, but none of the "estimators" were quite as thourough as the man from Perdido Heating and Air. He asked if I had any hot or cold spots in the house and even inspected my air ducts. None of the other companies told me that there were tax credits and rebates available for high efficiency air conditioners. Perdido Heating and Air did and I received $2500 in savings. When it came for the 'big day' the crew arrived on time and were very clean. In fact, Im almost embarrased to say that the house was cleaner when they left than when they arrived. I would gladly recommend this company to my friends and neighbors."

"James did a good job and was very helpful in troubleshooting my problem. He did all he could to fix my clogged drain in the laundry. Unfortunately, the problem requires a contractor to fix my problem. I still recommend James for most clog problems."

"Stan is very professional and conscientious in his work. Stan replaced a tub with a shower base and surrounding wall outfit. I had purchased the faucet, drain and shower unit. Stan relaxed the valve connected new faucet and drain. He cleaned up the work site and even mopped the floor. I definitely recommend Bay City plumbing."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

First, find the cleanout pipe in your yard. Unscrew the cap—you may need a wrench to do so. Then, get a drain snake. You can use a non-motorized one, but a motorized snake will make the job a little easier. Feed the snake through the pipe until it reaches the clog. Spin the snake continuously, but don’t try to feed it through the pipe anymore. Keep spinning until you feel it break the clog apart.

The cost to repair a main sewer line clog is about $3,110 on average. The average cost range is  $1,310 to $4,950, but it can go as low as $215 and as high as $9,300 or more. The cost factors for this repair include the severity of the clog, pipe accessibility, video inspection, removal method, permits, pipe material, labor rates in your area, and time of year. Repairs made from outside during the winter can be more difficult due to the frozen ground or during the spring if the ground is saturated from a lot of rain and snow melt.

In some cases, operating a snake can damage your drain and pipes. This depends on the overall condition of your pipes and how gently you operate the auger. For instance, older galvanized pipes covered in zinc are susceptible to scratches when using a drain snake. Additionally, it’s common for newbies to apply too much force when extending the snake, leading to scratches and related damage. You can also crack the porcelain with an electric auger if you’re snaking a toilet drain. If you’re using a manual snake or auger, the risk is minimal.

Biodegradable drain cleaners use naturally derived ingredients, such as baking soda, vinegar, and boiling water, which bacteria and other microbes can break down. Unlike conventional cleaners that rely on corrosive bleach (sodium hydroxide), biodegradable options are gentler on fixtures and less harmful to the environment. Because they don't release harmful gasses, they are also safer to use, especially in households with children, and do not require the same safety precautions as bleach-based products.

Ever wonder what might cause your outdoor spigot to lose water flow? It's not as complicated as one might think. Something as simple as a clogged or leaky pipe could be the culprit. Some other causes are corrosion of the pipes or lack of water pressure coming from your street.
