"David did an amazing job of tinting the windows in my home. I previously researched tinting windows to block out heat. While speaking to David on the phone, he told me that the temperature was measured before and after tinting the windows in a client's home and the temperature was lowered in a room by 20°. I was skeptical, but I had him come to my home for an estimate. It was a little more than I expected, but it was cheaper than buying new windows. I have him a deposit and he came back a couple weeks later as promised. Once he arrived he brought in a lot of equipment. Before he started he even made friends with my guard dog so he didn't bark or try eat him as much upon arrival. David was professional and got straight to work. I was really amazed at how much darker my home was when he was finished. After he was done he cleaned up after himself and I paid him the remainder for his services. He did not try to charge any additional fees other than what was quoted. The next day was very warm and when I got home from work I checked the garage and all the rooms that were normally unbearably got. THEY WERE NOT HOT!!! The temperature was actually about 20° to 25° lower than it normally would be. After seeing the professionalism and REAL RESULTS from his services, I feel that it was indeed a good and fair price for his services."

Artistic is a cool little store located on the border of Vestavia Hills and Hoover, AL. We tint cars at the store and tint windows on buildings all around Birmingham on a mobile basis. The store started in 1976. It is directly responsible for much of the window film market and development in Birmingham today. We have always been on the forefront of polymer science and have some really awesome energy film developments like the Vista Enerlogic product line to tell you about.

You can tint the windows in your house to about 50% or lower if you want the windows to boost your privacy. This tint will make your windows much darker, making it more difficult for people passing by to see inside your home. However, keep in mind that tints this dark can be thick, which may mean you lose out on any energy-efficiency benefits.

Whether window film is better depends on individual preferences and specific needs. In some instances, window film can be much less costly to install. Aesthetics is also a deciding factor. Window film may have a more significant appeal for design minimalists looking for a clean and streamlined look without the heaviness that comes with curtains. On the flip side, they can also appeal to design maximalists looking for creative expression in the form of color, patterns, and texture. Choosing between window film and traditional window coverings depends on factors like desired functionality, aesthetics, and personal preferences.

Some frosted glass sprays can handle the outdoors, but most of them aren't built for it. Sprays made for exterior use will say so clearly on the label. Anything marked “interior use only” can't hold up against rain, UV exposure, or changing temperatures without peeling, fading, or yellowing. Outdoor-rated sprays are typically more durable, but even then, proper prep and application matter. Before spraying anything outside, double-check the product instructions. If it doesn’t specifically mention exterior use, skip it. 

Installing tinting on your own home windows is possible, but not recommended. It’s very easy to make mistakes that leave visible bubbles or imperfections in the protective coating. Not only does this look unprofessional and detract from your home’s curb appeal, but it also limits the usefulness of the tint and may still let sunlight and solar heat through your windows. If you attempt the application yourself and mess up, you’ll pay more for the wasted material and the labor to hire a tinting professional to fix the issues.
