Description of Work: Monday morning around 10:00 AM the power went out in the NEW home we recently finished building 6 months ago. There has also been a lot of ongoing road/maintenance work in the new subdivision where my home is located, so we assumed it was a local problem as it has frequently fluctuated for hours at a time since moving in 6 months ago. While waiting for the power to come back on, we took our 3 dogs out for a walk, and it was only by chance that we noticed our neighbors lights on causing us to check to see if our home was the only one involved. We found no tripped breakers; so I contacted the Local power company and they ask me to walk down to the outside power box and check the power light. Checking the box, I quickly determined it had power, and only our home was involved. I attempted to contact our contractor as the house is still under warranty. After failing to reach him, I started calling electrical repair companies listed in the local phone book trying to find one available. After attempting to reach approx 4/5 different companies I noticed the largest ad on the page was for "DUKE ELECTRIC" (Licensed, Bonded, Insured), I called the number listed, and the owner "Jim Dukes", answered and said he was nearby, and would come right out and troubleshoot our electrical problem. I gave him directions, and he arrived approximately 30min later. He quickly determined the power box had power, and within about 10 minutes determined that it was a broken main power switch at the power box junction causing our problem. He had a switch in his parts box in his truck, and within an additional 10 minutes he quickly replaced the switch. He then came up to our house to inspect the junction box attached to the side of our house where he found additional electrical problems and code violations that were not identified during our initial home build. He told me I needed to have an inspector come back out and look at all electrical boxes, switches, and wiring, and said he would help document these electrical problems for me. He then visually inspected all electrical in our home and took pictures of problems he identified during this process. He said he would go back to his business, and put the pictures in a document with a description of what was found with each picture. Within 2 hours after leaving my home, he had gone back to his office, and completed and emailed this document to me with our final invoice. As he found so many electrical issues, he forgot to put the breaker switch in the invoice bill he gave to me. He told me that since he overlooked this part, he would incur the cost himself as he had already given us the bill and received payment for the initial invoice. In Summary; Jim Dukes responded to our need in an exceptionally quick manner. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it in a very short period of time. When his bill was wrong, he is old-schooled in that the customer is always right and needs to be taken care of quickly, courteously, and professionally; to ensure customer satisfaction in this case he erred on the side of caution and ate a portion of the bill many other companies would just tell the customer it is your problem. He also went out of his way to help document problems in an effort to assist me in getting these addressed and taken care of before they become a greater future issue. He was very polite, and treated me with respect when talking and explaining electrical issues. The item which really stood out about Dukes Electric is that Jim Dukes demeanor is totally professional, gives the impression that he is very knowledgable in his area of expertise, and gives the impression he is genuinely concerned about his customers. I made very sure I had his card as he would absolutely be the first one I call for any electrical issue. As long as he is available to respond in an acceptable amount of time, his company is the only company I would plan on using in the future. I can Highly Recommend Dukes Electric to anyone in need of electrical maintenance and/or
