"Estimator arrived as scheduled, very professional, knowledgeable. Wrote up replacement of big run around living room, believed entryway problem could be sealed and wet-rot expoxied. Bid 1295. I accepted, 2 person crew arrived bright and early as scheduled. I had trimmed grenery below work area but they only needed one ladder, went up it and did all the work from above!) (composition shingles). Removed old stuff, added flashing, made and installed 60+ feet of new gutter with 2 90 degree bends, joined to 3 downspouts. Done by noon! Installers' opinion was that sealing and epoxy were insufficent for entryway, called estimator, I had a bid to remove 4 piece / 3 bend gutter over entry, removell board with wet rot, replace with a primed board, make new gutter to fit and put it up. $1195. This was within my budget and got me all new gutters around the 1st floor of our split-level..I don't like jobs that increase once started but watching and listening to the installers work gave me confidence, budget was adequate and I really wanted the wet-rotted board gone.I accepted 2nd bid. When the day came, same installers arrived bright and early, went straight to work. The board arrived primed and they'd already rolled the basic gutter sections. Again, they worked from the roof, thoiugh removing the old board was eased by it being above the entryway, easy, solid, access from below. Pulling out the 1948 nails holding gutter and board made intersting noises. 2nd part of job also done by noon, Both sections worked great during recent rains. Everything they took off went away, no extra bits left lying around. Estimator sent me an invoice on Quicken, I paid by bank transfer that night. The estimator, scheduler / office manager and the two installers were all prompt, courteous, communicated well, kept me in the loop and paid attention to me, as they should. I've been trying to find someone to do this job for 14 years but couldn't find the right people. Angie's list had the right people, and all told, it took less than 2 hours of my time, so far. I need another hour of quality time to put 2 coats of white "trim" color on the new board.
