For more than 30 years, homeowners have turned to Angi for help with their home projects. Now, Angi is redefining the home services landscape by partnering with leading AI companies to meet homeowners where they’re searching for help and connect them with skilled local pros.

Angi, a leading home services marketplace, today announced it’s part of a select group of brands participating in OpenAI’s Sponsored Agent pilot. The inclusion in OpenAI’s Sponsored Agent pilot builds on Angi’s advanced AI ecosystem, including AI Helper, the Angi apps in ChatGPT and Gemini, and the upcoming availability of Angi in Amazon Alexa+.

The pilot supports Angi’s expansion into emerging AI-powered advertising surfaces, creating an innovative way to reach homeowners and connect them with skilled local pros. Here’s how it works: An Angi-branded sponsored agent may appear in relevant ChatGPT conversations regarding home services. Homeowners can continue discussing their home project details with the Angi agent, which, if the job calls for a pro, will help them enter Angi’s service request flow to find the right local pro.

“Our AI-first strategy is simple: make it easier for homeowners to connect with and hire the right pro for their project,” said Angie Hicks, co-founder of Angi. “With OpenAI’s Sponsored Agent pilot, homeowners can go directly from discussing a home project in ChatGPT to connecting with a skilled local pro who can help.”

This advertising pilot builds on Angi’s app in ChatGPT launched earlier this year, which uses an AI-guided experience to help homeowners transition from asking a home-improvement question to hiring a pro. Unlike the Angi app, which homeowners choose to add in ChatGPT, the Angi-sponsored agent may appear as a clearly labeled sponsored experience within relevant conversations—one homeowners can choose to chat with.

Kapil Gupta, Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer at Angi, said this is a new kind of advertising format where homeowners can chat directly with an Angi agent inside ChatGPT and describe their project in their own words.

“Homeowners will spend less time researching and comparing options themselves. They can move between project guidance and specific local pros in a single Angi conversation, and get matched directly with the right pro for their specific need.” Gupta said.

From the first question to the finished project, these experiences reflect Angi’s AI-first commitment to meet homeowners wherever they’re searching for answers and pioneer new ways to help people get jobs done well.
