Manicures/Nails
The first time I went into Diva Nail I was so excited because I had heard their prices were cheaper than other people in town. I was lucky enough to get a young man named Jimmy. I scheduled an appointment & probably only waited about 10 to 15 minutes & didn't mind at the time because I had all day. He did a great job for the most part, despite some really bad reviews I had read online about Diva Nail Spa being extremely tardy even if you make an appointment & that they charged normal, not the pseudo-advertised "discounted" prices they claim. They even have hand written markups on their price list on their wall, probably because they really can't cut the kind of deals they originally wanted to coming into Jackson, as it is a very expensive town to have a business in. I am a born & raised local, so is my husband, so I understand how overpriced things can be due to the nature of our town. I went in about a month later, couldn't get in to see Jimmy & felt pushed to see a much older gentleman because they insisted, & at that point, I thought 'why not?', they were good the first time. The man proceed to ground out my fingernails until they actually had blood spots on several of my nails that showed through the nail!!! It burned unlike anything I've ever felt in my life & I even yelped, "OUCH!", more than once. He ground out my natural nail so badly that even now, almost SIX MONTHS later, my nails are still weak & growing out. Ask any professional hair, skin & nail doctor what kind of damage this kind of trauma to a nail bed can do. In fact, the last bit of acrylic finally cam off my left thumb just the other day. On top of that he was kinda rude because I couldn't understand some of what he said to me & I think it frustrated him and annoyed him, but I just couldn't. His wife (I assume because Jimmy told me it's family run), was very nice, but kinda blind-sided me with an eyebrow & lip wax while I was trapped getting my fingers assaulted. She waxed my eyebrows WAAAAYYYYY too thin, even though I said to please leave them thick. Jimmy told me that it would cost about $30 or so, for my second visit re-fill, & the older gentleman charged me $45! I had to really mention it & insist I get the price Jimmy quoted me at. A co-worker of my husband goes to Jimmy to get her nails done, & one of his family members, a sister probably had my husbands co-worker once, & was doing a poor job repairing her nails, & said,"...well Jimmy is really the best at this, I don't really know what I'm doing...". Can you believe that! She flat-out admitted that she didn't know what she was doing! Even all the family members know that Jimmy is the only one who can do finger nails! I wonder if they all have degrees from any professional type of cosmological school or not! I was actually injured by these people, my eyebrows took forever to grow back, & they charged me way more then was expected. I didn't say anything at the time because they were older folks & I didn't want to be rude, plus I didn't really realize the damage until I got home & it was too late. Even the paint job done by the older gentleman was so very bad- chipping right away! Right away & I'd spent a lot of money there! They had bits of hair stuck in the tips & weird cracks.... oh I felt like crap & bad that I had paid for all that. I usually never complain about anything in life, even when I'm wronged, but thanks to angieslist.com, I can air my grievances & it's not complaining, I think & hope I'm warning others of the potential pain they may suffer from poor products or services, either physically, financially, or emotionally in my hometown!
