Bid price was reasonable (against 2 other quotes). Owner was cordial and helpful in the showroom. The owner told me the install would take 2-3 days. I told him priority one was to finish quickly. The crew arrived 25 days later, again estimating 2 days to get it installed and working, with another day to do the drywall. In fact it took 11 days to get the fireplace installed and working, and another 17 days to finish off the drywall texture and hearth (not including painting and rock face installation, which I did). Ultimately, completion took 29 days (of which 8 saw workers at our house, for a total of ~20 hours), with 2 stretches of 7 days each where I heard nothing from them, despite frequent calls with voicemails. During this time we had open framing, exposed electrical and a 3x5-foot hole in the ceiling of the living room in a house with 2 young children. The work was ultimately completed at a quality level that was technically acceptable, though not impressive (i.e. backerboard was installed with gaps between panels, sealant was applied so thickly it dripped onto the floor). If the work had been timely, it would garner a B grade. However, lack of responsiveness and massive underestimation of the completion time caused me frustration, leaving me quite disappointed with the experience.

I contacted the company that manufactures this product and they said it is either a faulty unit or an improper install. They have no control after the unit is sold to their distributors.
