They were very prompt at coming out, providing an estimate, putting the contract together and scheduling the work.
The crew was professional and great to be around. They worked around my dogs needing to be let out every few hours.
Deck was completed and looked great. We got the pool out, set it up and started filling it. About 2/3's through the filling process we were hearing some strange noise. After trying to figure out where the noise was coming from we realized that boards on the deck were much lower than the rest.. I called them and they came out right away to look at it. They indicated that the deck needed more supports due to the weight of the pool and arranged to come back the next day to put in more supports.
I knew this was the first time they had built a deck to hold this size of a pool. How often is a pool deck a request in WY? I was impressed with their response. I also understand that sometimes something new may require some trail and error.
We drained the pool and they set to work. They built in more supports to hold the weight.
We began filling the pool. At a about the 3/4 full mark we noticed that the deck was no longer level and seemed to be collapsing again. I called them again and they came right out. This was at about 430 on a Friday. They assured me that the wood would give some due to the weight but that this was expected and we weren't going to have a repeat of the previous issue.
Shortly after that the deck collapsed in a different area. I called them and they came out right away again. This time they said they would put in more supports without having to drain the pool but to call them when we took the pool down and they would come out and either lay more decking or create a concrete deck.
I am ecstatic at this point for a couple of reasons. 1. The pool season in WY is short. Having to drain the pool, repair the deck and then fill and heat would have really cut into our pool time. 2. I felt that I had finally found a good contractor in WY. I had some work that I needed done in the bathrooms and I knew a great company to call when we were ready to do that.
We took the pool down Labor Day weekend. I called them the following week to let them know the pool was down and ready for them.
When I called I was told that I needed to talk to Luke about it. I asked that they have him call me.
Winter arrived, no call.
I have called them several times since and left messages to have Luke call me.
No callback.
Now I am in a situation that I have a very uneven deck and I am going to have to pay someone else to come out and either fix the deck or pour a concrete slab for the pool. I will also still need to find a contractor for the bathroom work we need done.
I feel they are hoping I will give up and go away. Unfortunately I am in that position.
What started out as a fantastic experience, even though there were a few issues, turned into a very expensive project.
I am sad to say that I won't use them again and don't recommend that others do either.
"The deck is used to support a pool. The original pool was smaller than the one used. The deck made it through the entire summer without incident last summer. I was present when the pool was removed. I noticed a few areas that I wanted to reinforce this spring. It has been snowing and raining so it has not been doable yet. She called on Monday afternoon. I received the written message from our office person yesterday morning as I was in the field on Monday. I had it on my list to call her this morning. It is 8 am Wednesday and I still intend to do the right thing for this customer regaurdless of her poor review. I stand behind our quality. I am sorry that our call took us an extra day to get back to you."
"Thank you [Member name] we look forward to doing more work with you in the future"
"Thank you! You were a pleasure to work for. We look forword to working with you again in the future."
"Thanks guys we will keep going."
I was originally told it would take 2 weeks, it was incomplete after 3 months
Lack of communication.
Whenever I tried to call to report a problem or ask a question, I got voice mail. Their reason was "they often weren't in the office". But I never got an answer on either the office or the cell phone. I would receive a e-mail 2-3 days later that often didn't answer my questions.
Kitchen wood floor
Poorly patched after cabinets were moved, we pointed it out to contractor, but cabinets were already sitting on the patch and nothing ever done.
Texturing on wall beside basement stairs never completed, even though we kept asking about it.
Electrical work
- Performed electrical work without a permit
- Used too small wire for the load
- Installed too big a circuit breaker for the wire
- Junction box did not include air conditioner disconnect required by city
First they claimed the work was properly done, then they blamed it on the electrician they hired and said they would get someone in to correct the "minor" errors. They kept making excuses of why they couldn't get a replacement electrician to correct the problems.
Tile work
- Some tiles were originally installed (by the business owner) with the wrong side to the wall.
- Tile backsplash in kitchen uneven, with large gaps (again by business owner)
- Both errors were corrected by the tile subcontractor after we pointed it out.
Work started in July, customer terminated contract in Nov
"The original project was completed on time and was approved by the customer. I personally stayed till 8 pm the final night to complete the project. They called with 1 concern that was taken care of on a warranty call. The AC Unit was an addition. The electrical runs and HVAC runs were existing and inspected at the time the home was built. The condenser was the only thing installed. This was not completed in the original time line. After all work was completed the customer was given a refund because they were unsure of the existing Electrical. The customers wife was extremely happy with all of our work and has since asked me for a price on doing more work. I hope you have more luck with your next contractor. Sorry you were not happy."
"Thank you Sir. I will be looking forward to finishing that basement. I am so glad to have great customers like your self."
"We were glad to help. We will work for you as long as you need us. I know it is not in this review but we will be finishing your current project today. Thank you for the great communication."
Work day 1: Employees showed up on time but did not have any plastic sheeting to manage mud, dust, texture. They did install an extra support 2x4 that was unexpected but ultimately fine since it was needed to further support the drywall sheets I had hung. I asked the employees if Luke was planning to stop by to check things out in person. They said they thought so but Luke never showed up on the worksite. Work truck leaked tranny fluid on my driveway. I provided plastic sheeting for the drywall work and material to catch the leaking transmission fluid. The 2 guys each worked approx 7 hours that day.
Work Day 2: Employees showed up on time but did not have any plastic sheeting to manage mud, dust, texture. They both worked another 7+ hours mudding and sanding the area. I was surprised it took so long since there were only 8 sheets of drywall, and about 50 strips of tape ranging from a few inches to about 7-8 feet . Again, I asked the employees if Luke was planning to stop by to check things out in person. They said they thought so but Luke never showed up on the worksite or called. Work truck agin leaked tranny fluid on my driveway. I provided plastic sheeting for the drywall work and material to catch the leaking transmission fluid.
Work Day 3: Employees showed up on time but did not have any plastic sheeting to manage mud, dust, texture. Or a Knock-Down tool required to actually texture the walls, which due to what they told me on day 2, they had expected to spray the texture on day 3. They both worked another 7+ hours mudding and sanding the area. Luke stopped by at 11AM. As they guys were still sanding and prepping, I told him I was worried they were not making any timely progress. I also told Luke that I thought they should have brought plastic and the knock down tool. He agreed and said if they weren't spraying texture by 2pm, he would come over and do it himself. 2 pm came and went, no texture on the walls yet.
A few hours later (4pm?) they began to texture, Walls were OK though even after the 2+ days 2 guys were mudding and sanding, fabric tape and other screw holes were visible. Soon after, an aersol can of popcorn ceiling texture they were spraying had oversprayed on my carpet. Since they had not prepped the area with any plastic or canvas, this splattered onto a fairly large area in the middle of my basement. I discovered this and became frustrated! I asked they guys why they didnt use the plastic sheeting I had provided. There was an unopened box of 5 sheets of plastic on the table right next to where this occurred.
They guys packed up tools and cleaned the work area. Then left. They didn't say anything to me and I figured they left the job site. They were gone for about an hour to get a carpet cleaning unit. Not knowing that, I did call Luke several times in that hour trying to figure out if they were done or not, since there was a big mess in the basement. I never received a call back, then the employees showed up and cleaned the carpet as best they could. They did a pretty good job given the circumstances.
Around 6pm, Ron showed up to the jobsite to give the guys their paychecks. He was about to leave when I asked him to come and inspect the work. He did, and indicated that the visible tape and holes in the wall was acceptable and my opinion that is was not, didn't really matter. I told him I thought otherwise and I thought they could have given their employees more direction since I felt I really had to do most of that, including providing them with tools and protective sheeting. Ron grumbled then left. The guys then wrapped up their work and also left.
About 45 minutes later, I got a phone call from Luke. He was irate and demanding I not talk to his employees or dad. I tried to explain to him that I thought the quality was marginal and that I was surprised it took nearly 40 man-hours to complete this amount of work, as well as disappointed they did not seem prepared with tools and materials. At this point he demanded I answer the question if I was going to pay my bill in full. I said as soon as I receive an invoice, I will pay. Luke demanded I give him an Yes/No answer and immediately threatened me with a Contractor Lein. All this before I even had an invoice!! I invited him over to inspect the final work and give me an invoice. 15 minutes later Luke shows up. After the topic of the invoice is put to rest (he left a copy and was paid in full in less than 14 days), he also agreed that visible tape, screw holes in the walls, and a large wet textured ceiling patch were acceptable quality for him. The conversation turned back to the invoice, and he demanded I tell him whether or not I was going to pay my bill. I told him that as soon as I reviewed it, I would pay what was fair. He became belligerent, shouting at me and asking where my wife was since she would now be involved in a lein against the property. One of my neighbors heard the yelling and came outside of his house He continued to yell which is when I told him to leave my property or he would be trespassing. He refused and I then called police to have him removed from my property. At this point, he got in his truck and sped off. This is documented with the City of Cheyenne PD.
After the work was completed: I did submit a dispute to the Northern Colorado/Wyoming BBB to the charges on his invoice since I was expecting $200-$240 dollars for the work, not $350. As that process was completed, I accepted the $350 charge and paid him in full. When I sent my payment to the office, I did ask for a receipt of payment to be mailed to me. That certified letter was mailed on 10/09/14, the payment in full check was cashed and cleared my bank on 10/14/14. It has been 4 full weeks since this took place and I have not even gotten a receipt of payment from them as I had asked.
I would NOT RECOMMEND this business.
"The customer was given a bunch of work for free. We went above and beyond. He had been drinking the last day after I met with him. It was at that time he began to insult and degrade not only the workers that did a wonderful job in less than 3 days mind you. He also became violent and insulting to my self and my father. He lured me into his house with the pretense of a walk through when I could find nothing wrong he began name calling and treats at that time I tried to exit the premises. He started calling the police on my way out. He tried to make me stay and I declined. I then also contacted Cheyenne PD to make a report. The officer went over to speak with him and called me. They said I did the right thing and he was obviously impaired. They advised him to not contact me again. He tried to file with the Better Business Bureau. They contacted me. He had falsified the report to them and I took no hits from them. Mind you we only charged this customer $350. to drywall tape texture and finish an entire bedroom and repair 27 botched ceiling patches. We began the process for a lien. He then paid in full. Thank you for your business and we welcome all criticism. We would however prefer them to be accurate."
"Well I thought we did better than a B but thank you for your honesty. We will strive for A's on the next one. Hope all is warm at your winter home and we will see you in the spring."
"You rock. I hope you all get to stay in your new station for a while. We enjoyed getting to know you and if you ever come back we want to be your go to guys again. Thanks again."
"Thank you very much and let your in laws know how much we appreciate the referral"
"Great we will see you soon. Spread the word!"
"Okay, we did speak with you on the phone. We explained we needed an extra day before we started. We started and the project has been going well. The drywall mud was completed the first day. You have to wait for the first coat to dry before you can sand it and apply another coat. The foreman on the project spent an entire day cleaning your home when the drywall dust got out of hand. For the next 2 coats of mud we purchased a new piece of equipment that vacuums up the dust as we go. We have been very clean and have been working hard to make this project a success. We always warn our customers that there will be lots of dust when you have a dry wall project of this size. I am sorry about your drapes and if you would have communicated this to us we would have offered to pay for the dry cleaning. As of today this customer has not communicated any of her issues to any one in the company. Regardless of her review we will continue to make her house as beautiful as we can. I hope at the end she can offer a third review explaining how great it looks."
"Thanks I will see you Thursday."
"Thanks for the review. We agrees to do this job as a favor in a hurry. It was my fault for not looking at the job before we did it. The shed was 3 times the size we were told. The roof was not a standard pitch, and was twice as high. We were not left with all the correct materials to complete the job. The roof was put on in the winter and I let her know that it would need to get warm for those shingles to seal. As for the cut lines and flipped up shingles I offered to come repair the roof. I did not threaten lien until the home owner had made it clear she did not want me to return and she would not pay. I think the price was a steal. I almost called her back for a change order but I wanted to surprise her husband while they were on vacation. The other thing she neglected to tell you is we had done some work previously and we were told how great we were and how great our quality was. I guess that does not make it to every review. Mrs. home owner we would be happy to come back and repair or replace any issues you may have. remember you have a 1 year warranty."
"Thank you sir. I just received your final payment today. I am glad we can help. I had to deal with the same things when my grandpa passed away. That's why we renamed the company."
"The project was for 2 closets 1 bathroom and 1 bedroom. The expected completion was 3 weeks. At the end of the first week we were framed dry walled and ready for finish. The customer did not like his design at that time. He then changed the whole bathroom design. We completed that change. Then he changed it again. We tore out the entire project again. From day 1 we knew the project was to be in bronco blue and orange. We completed paint. The customer then informed us he wanted the old colors. We changed the colors and repainted it the next day. The customer had a ton of custom items that we ordered and installed on time. The customer wanted to order and pay for his own tile. We gave the supplier the measurements and they ordered it. The tile was installed in week 4. No bull nose was ordered. Some how this is our fault. Okay we ordered new bull nose it came in latter that week and was rejected by the customer. We reordered and the tile came in last week we will be complete tomorrow. The customer also added 2 additional custom stain and finish doors. We are 2 weeks over the original schedule but when you have changes especially large ones like this we have been lucky to complete as quickly as we are. I know the customer will be happy at the completion."
"Thank you folks! I hope your new home is as comfy as your home here. We were able to complete repairs to get the home sold quickly."
"Really! Well we had to completely reconstruct the entire basement including re pouring the basement floor, and you moved renters in the second week. You then demanded we get main level done immediately. We did and tried work with you. The project is complete. If you have issues we will be happy to come meet with you and take a look at them. We have had daily contact with you and have over 700 emails to support that fact. If you recall you ordered a shower door that took 2 months to get here. That's why we did not finish till last Friday. Luke is the owner but is not always on every project. You had daily contact with the on sight supervisors Jordan, and Tim. We appreciate your business and you have a warranty for 1 year. On the 2 bathrooms, the exterior foundation repair and excavation, the 15 yards of concrete, the extra drywall, and additional HVAC work. What you need to remember is if you add things to a project especially large things like you did that increases the amount of time it will take to complete it. Jordan worked on Saturday and did walked through to make sure it was all buttoned up. I am honestly flabbergasted as when I talked to you on Friday all was great in your land."
"Well we were very pleased to be of help. We look forward to a long relationship. We can do bigger jobs too."
"Thanks Buddy!! Looking forward to your Kitchen job."
"I am sorry you did not speak with your husband Mam. We spoke several times, and went over an estimate. He said thank you and that he would complete the work him self. If he has not and you are still interested we would be happy to complete the project at our original bid price"
Josh
P.S. Did you know that they renamed the company after the owners grandfather when he passed.
"Thank you [member name removed]. I know grandpa is smiling. Looking forward to the bathroom this summer."
"I am sorry you feel that way (member name removed). The time frame, budget constraints and the customers demands made it impossible to even take the job. No bid was given. No contract was signed. (member name removed) is angry because I did not take the job. I will continue to work hard to make my customers as happy as possible, but you cant make every one happy. (member name removed) I hope you can find some one to do an upscale bathroom for you for under $2500.00"
"Hey thanks Customer. I enjoyed your job a lot. We will work on the punctuality and response time and try for all A's next time."
