About us

I started my construction career in 1976, working in the high-end communities around Los Angeles. I have also worked in Aspen, Seattle, San Francisco, Newport and Laguna Beach. I currently cover all of the high-end communities in the Valley, from Carefree to Ahwatukee, even Sedona. I have been a licensed contractor since 1988, first in California and now Arizona. My specialty is installing, repairing and replacing FULL MORTISE LOCKS, as well as other high-end door and architectural hardware (cabinet, bath, etc.). I can often replace doors without removing the jamb, avoiding a lot of mess and expense. Estimates are given after reviewing the project and materials quotes are obtained from my suppliers (I do not give "ball park" estimates over the phone). High-end lock and door work requires more skill than most carpenters and locksmiths possess; it requires finish carpentry skills, which I have developed over many years. Many of my clients have had bad experiences with locksmiths and handymen attempting to fix their expensive doors and hardware. Very often, I repair their work as well as the original problem.

Mark was terrific! He came out to my home, helped me decide what steps to take to make the doors in my home function properly and have the same finish throughout. He talked with me- gave me ideas about alternative plans, gave me a detailed estimate. When Mark started the work he was very precise- all the work was of high quality down to the finest detail.

Mark Meister fixed our 20-year old Baldwin front door lockset. The two men who worked on it previously each spent more than 7 hours on two different occasions and never really made it work well. It would cost about $1200.00 to replace! I called a very good locksmith (from Angie's List) who told me that he was unable to work on a Baldwin Lock, to call the Hardware store to find a specialist in Baldwin locks. Cllyde Hardware recommended Mark. Mark warned me over the phone that it would take him more than an hour and told me his price. He fixed it in very little time. He went to the Hardware store to get a replacement part and returned with a half-priced georgeous doorknob which matched the lockset, and installed it. I was afraid we would have to replace the lockset, or that I would hire a locksmith who, like the other two people, would take hours and hours to do the work. I'd call Mark again for any lock or key problem.
Response from Meister Precision LLC
"While I appreciate the positive feedback, I believe with regards to my hourly rate being "high", her last comment is more accurate: "you get what you pay for". Considering she paid two others 7 hours labor to fix the problem without success, my fee was a bargain. As a licensed contractor/sole proprietor, I pay my insurance, overhead and self-employment tax costs out my hourly rate. That's about 50% of my rate. Many service companies also charge a fee just to show up; I don't, never have and never will. I hope the positive attributes she listed will be the deciding factor in your choice to call me about your project. Thank you."
