Initial bid on 6/9/15. Went with Brian to look for paint colors in late July/early August narrowed color pallettes down to a handful. On 8/3/15, Brian showed up to start painting. I determined that power company needed to take care of some exposed wires that close the house, I felt that the service provider should have determined this. Brian left his bucket truck in front of our home due parking being a premium in front of my place. On 8/6/15 I told Brian that wanted 4 secondary colors, Brian revised the initial bid for 4 secondary colors. First day of actual began on 8/8/15. Brian worked by himself, never had any help. He did not work at my place every day, he showed up when he pleased. Came to find out later that he had other jobs going on while he was doing my job. On 8/9/15 he told me he showed up for 15 minutes and left, did not give me any details on why he had left. On 8/10 he worked 3.5 hours, gave him check for 1/3 of initial bid in the amount of $1438.33, should have asked for a receipt never offered either. On 8/10 he worked for 4.75 hours. Very seldom would he tell me ahead of time that he was showing up. He communicated via text message only never by email or phone. On 8/12/15 he worked for an hour, 8/13/15 2 hours, 8/14/15 3 hours. Did not request he work on weekends but to this point had not worked a full day and was still doing prep work, scraping no pressure washing due to Victorian home. On 8/17/15 primed wood surface, total time he was there was 6 hours. Brick is the primary surface and the majority of the work. 8/18 2.5 hours, gave him two checks for $500.00 a piece. 8/19 4 hours, more priming of wood surfaces. 8/20, 8/21 no shows. Determined that he had to park his truck on sidewalk to get better angle for top of the house. I selected primary color on 8/24 plus four secondary colors for detail work. On 8/25 he still had prep work to be done but told me was waiting on getting the paint. Wednesday he was a no show. Thursday 8/27 he texted me that colors needed to be selected by noon or he had another job to go to, gave him check for 438.33 which counted as 2/3 of bid. Met him a Lowe's at noon to get colors. He was roughly there for 4.5 hours putting on first coat. On Friday 8/28, determined the mortar was flaking off. The mortar was put in 10 days prior. Brought this up to Brian who told me that it is a possibility that the mortar might have been tainted. Brian left for home to make a new mortar mix and came back. Took pictures of flaking mortar. He had to scrape primer and first coat to get to flaking mortar. Came back and repaired, then painted right over the mortar immediately afterwards. After this he told me had to go to lunch. 20 minutes later he told me had to quit the job due to he did not have the paint colors he needed, when he wasn't done with the primary at the top of the house. Second excuse was he was not making any money on this job. Texted me twice since 8/28/15 seeing how I was doing. It has been a month since he quit.
