"This appears to be the very letter I responded to when contacted by the Attorney Generals Office. It was unsigned and undated. I requested that I be sent a signed and dated copy before I responded. I suggested that this was a perimeter drain issue and should be addressed from the exterior in part, as well as sloping the floor to direct the water to the driveway. Floor was left with a broom-finish. Owner's boyfriend preferred a slick finish which I did not recommend due to possibility that any moisture dripping off wet cars could create a slip hazard in freezing temperatures. It is untrue, dare I say a lie, that the garage door would not close. The Complaint confirmed I laid the floor thicker at the back, thinner at the front. I checked the door operation myself at that time. I also witnessed the garage door operating perfectly when I returned to grind the floor per their request. I did not recommend this. I knew the result would not be favorable as grinding off material would reduce the pitch that I had determined would drain any water penetration from whatever source per the original discussion with Ms. [removed name]. The claim that it rained during the work process was also untrue. It did rain the night before. The complaint about roughness was explained to them as noted above. I was willing to compromise and apply a thin coal somewhat smoother, but not slick, for safety reasons as noted above. They demanded that I grind it down. I conceded with predictable results. They did not like it, nor did I They said I left trash. I have to be brutally honest here - they are liars. I have received more compliments about my respect for personal property than any other part of my work. One lady commented, early in my career, while rebuilding a fireplace in her living room (imagine this mess potential) - "Mr. Edens, you are very tidy with your mess". I cover everything with protective materials - always have and still do. I just received a handwritten note on 08-13-2015 along with final payment from [removed personal info] stating how much he appreciated our clean-up, as many contractors do not care about leaving things neat and clean. After all was said and done, and was preparing to leave, the boyfriend came out to ask me if I would help him start his BMW car. The battery was dead. He did not even look at the job at that time, but he finally admitted what he really wanted was money back. Ms. [removed name] told me something before the job even began, that her father was paying for the work. It is helpful to know that her father is a very successful businessman in his own right. Ms. [removed name] is a special-ed teacher whom I respect highly as I have a special needs child of my own. Her boyfriend works as a furniture deliverer. His words and actions finally convinced me that this was nothing more than a "shake down". This is a much shortened version of my response to the Attorney General's Office. It contained multiple informational Exhibits, taken mostly from my Daily Journal which I kept on this job and every other job I have done."
I called Mr Edens and requested that he come out and give us an estimate to build a small retaining wall. He came out that afternoon and checked out the job then gave us an estimate.
He was scheduled to come out a week later to do the work which he estimated would take about l l/2 days. The night before he was to start the job he called to verify that everything was on schedule as planned.
Mr. Edens and his son arrived the next morning at 8 AM and went right to work. They worked until 4 PM. They arrived the next morning at 7:30 AM and worked until about 1 PM.
We had a couple of breaks in a coupe of old walls and Mr. also repaired them.
Mr. Edens and his son were both very well mannered.
We were very pleased with Mr Edens
I would definitely have Mr Edens again.
