I'm very Happy with the work performed. I'm not a HVAC mechanic but it looks to me they did a better job installing this system than the original contractor did. They were very courtesy and picked up all trash and put everything back how they found it. Plus the weather today was cold and windy. Didn't hear one complaint. I will definitely use this company for any future work.

There is a cheaper system out there, but, they are local, the price was okay, they offer quality, and they're dependable. I give them high ratings and would use them again in the future.

It went very well, overall. It was difficult to get estimates from any A/C contractor due to the very hot summer when our old system broke down. Comfort Air came recommended by a co-worker. While other contractors did not return phone calls and provided vague and low-ball type bids for "contractor grade" (that is, poor quality) systems, Mr. Appel was prompt in responding and a generally careful evaluation of the extant situation. He also provided a well-detailed estimate with options for different levels of systems and to account for different contingencies that might be encountered during installation. The only omission was not inspecting the existing gas furnace which would have indicated the need for an immediate replacement rather than requiring a second round of installation work a few months later. That would have saved all of us time and money. The quality of the work appears very good (I have a background in HVAC, so I am confident in my judgment). My only quibble was some of the cutting of ductwork was done after it was placed in location over the furnace, meaning metal chips from the cutting fell into the furnace unit. As it turned out, that unit was later replaced for completely different reasons, so there will be no adverse impact in this case. All other work appeared to be handled precisely as it should be done. Mr. Appel and his workers all were efficient, professional in demeanor, and courteous as guests in our home. In particular, Mr. Appel personally delivered his estimates and oversaw the work at every step. The system (Lennox) has performed flawlessly. It is a combined gas furnace and heat pump system. The heat pump is used for heating until the coldest temperatures, at which the gas furnace takes over. We also purchased a 7 day programmable set-back thermostat that handles the combined system switchover, no extra control boxes are needed for this system. Over this winter we have saved over $100 per month on our combined electric and gas bills. If the savings continue through the summer, we will pay off this investment in about 5 years. Our carbon footprint is certainly lower, also. As a followup, one misstep has occurred in their service. We had installed a specialty filter system. We had agreed to have Mr. Appel's Comfort Air Systems company provide replacements on that filter. However, a message left with their service did not result in a returned call. I purchased a replacement online instead as the work is quite easy to do. Those are trivial issues, though. I have used two other HVAC contractors for minor work and gotten bids from two others in this area. Comfort Air Systems will always be my first call when I need work done and first recommendation when others ask me for advice.
