Ty Evans, the owner, subcontracted the siding out to two young men. The men were friendly and courteous and seemed to know what they were doing, but apparently they weren't very experienced or knowledgable about siding because portions of it came loose about a six or seven times and had to be reattached because they apparently did not nail the siding down when it was applied. Mr. Evans sent a very young guy to put in the floor of the screened porch. After the old deck was removed, he nailed each and every board down on the cross beams without making sure they were level. Some of the nails weren't nailed in all the way, some of the boards were crown up, some crown down, making the floor even more uneven. He used a LOT of nails on every board. The screen was installed over 2 by 4's with only a single cross brace, even tho I had insisted on a lower balluster style to prevent my grandchildren from pushing through the screen. Mr. Evans made them come back and add the lower braces. They missed some strips on the outside in several places and had to come back and add those. Where the roof met the house, on one side, they had had to add a triangular shaped board to cover the exposed support beam. Apparently it was quite hard and they had a lot of trouble with it, because I counted over 30 some nails in that one small piece of wood! They replaced it. Lord only knows how they got it out. The tin roof on the porch was not nailed down in some places so they had to come back and fix that. They did not insulate or caulk anywhere other than the strip that ran from the siding to the roof. And since there were so many gaps between the corrugated tin and the support beams, bees, mosquitos, insects of all kinds could easily enter the "screened in porch". My son finally used gap sealer and sealed all those places. The screen door was not level and therefore it stuck most of the time when it was used. The wooden steps that they made to come down off the porch were placed on dirt and had no foundation to keep them from rotting, sinking when the ground got wet from rain. (This was my first experience having work of this type done. I wasn't sure how a porch should be built.) I will never hire this company again and do not recommend them to anyone. The first six or seven times that we had to call them about fixing things, it took forever to get in touch with anyone, mostly had to leave voice mails which were rarely returned. Sometimes Mr. Evans would promise to send someone or come over himself but no one would ever come, so we had to keep calling. Obviously Mr. Evans nor the people he hires are even qualified to do this type of work and should not be allowed to continue doing this to people.
Description of Work: They put vinyl siding over the clabbord wood siding on my mother's house in Vienna. They they "built" a screened porch on the back of her house.
