He did a good job with the power washing work. The siding looked great, and all the algae was removed from the roof. I made the mistake of asking if he did gutter guards, and he showed me some samples of different types of gutter guards that were in his truck. Like a dummy, I told him to go ahead and put gutter guards on the house. He arrived on his scheduled day, and went ahead with his work. I didn't go outside, as there was water flying everywhere (understandable, since it was pressure washing). When he was done, I went out to look at the job. The house and roof looked great. The gutter guards looked like crap. They were sticking up out of the gutters in such a fashion that water wouldn't even pass over them. I knew d*** well that they weren't installed correctly, but he kept telling me that "oh ya, this way they won't collapse down into the gutters under the weight of snow and ice. Whatever. He was standing there tapping his foot with his hand out, so I let him convince me that I didn't know what I was talking about. HA! I DID know what I was talking about, as it turned out. This guy installed these gutter guards incorrectly (should have been flat from the front of the gutter to UNDER the edge of the shingles), upside down, and backwards (front to back). Anything that he could have done wrong, he did. Rain just ran down the roof, hit these gutter guards, and was forced back to the drip edge, where the water came out behind the gutters, close to the house. What a mess! I thought there was a discrepancy on the bill, so I called him and left a message. He never even bothered to return my call, which is totally unprofessional. Like I said, the power washing was well done, but stop there if you choose to engage this guy. Also, anything he says about "the gutter cleaning is free if you have me do the power washing" - make sure you get it in writing. Once he has your check and is gone, you'll never hear from him again.
