First person in 15 years to actually fix the problem

It went very well. Stuart supervised 2 employees on this job. He checked in regularly. The employees that were put on this job were polite and worked steadily to complete the roof in a timely fashion. Even with unpredictable summer rain delays.
Stuart was responsive to phone calls, even before we had a contract. Which, in this day and age, is a really nice thing--contractors are very busy, and it is easy for calls to be missed or forgotten.
And, when the minor gutter adjustment had a problem, Stuart was out within a day to fix it, and it now works as intended.
I plan to remodel a sunporch on the back of the house, and will hire Stuart for that job when the time is right.

It went well. The leaks that had alerted me of the improper flashing installation have not returned, despite several heavy rainstorms. He was punctual and delivered a good service. The only drawback was that I had not been informed of when the work would happen so was surprised when people arrived to repair the roof. This was probably a simple miscommunication, like accidentally leaving a voicemail message with a wrong number, (and I'd give A- instead of B for the professionalism score if that were an option) and I would have no hesitancy about hiring Stuart Contracting for future work.

It was a very good experience! His work was thorough and he is extremely professional. He was on the job everyday and came when he said he would, even with snow and ice on the roads. Everything was done as promised and I was consulted at every step where decisions were needed. In an old house, there are always issues to address and Stuart addressed them well.
Although his hourly rates may be more than some other contractors charge, it is definitely worth the investment to have the quality of the workmanship and the finished product.

The contractor does not provide written estimates. You give him a check to buy materials and he charges a flat rate for his time. He will give you the receipts for materials and settle up weekly. This may make some people feel uncomfortable, but the system works well. He is experienced and does good work, is very detail-oriented and takes a great deal of pride in his workmanship. He communicates well, keeping you informed of his progress, and deals effectively with unexpected problems.

Owner is hands on either actually working or instructing crew , I was able to see before and after photos of repairs on the roof and chimney. Owner was honest and informative . Took 3 days to complete but he did more than was planned , IE chimney repair and even got rid of a hornets nest. The crew picked up every day and were professional and courteous. Very pleased with everything and have contracted him to work on daughters house. Will use contractor exclusively in the future

My experience overall went very well. He did everything he said he would do. He put back up a railing for us on a Sunday and made sure it was sturdy.

He completed the job in one day and removed all the debris associated with tearing off old shingles and replacing rotten roof sheathing. Roof is great and no leaks!!!

The project went well all around. The job was started when it was supposed to be started and finished the same day. Albeit, it was a small project, it was done timely and done right. Best of all, I was not charged for all the materials when it turned out not all the materials were needed. Most contractors would have never even let on that all the materials were not used, but would have kept them for another job while still charging full price to me.

The entire upper story (front section) of the house now looks better than ever. Professional work, completed within a very reasonable time frame, as scheduled. Work site was kept clean. Workers were polite and responsible, and very responsive to correcting problems that had not been initially identified until after they took off the damaged siding. Stuart supervised the work regularly, checked in with us to make sure we were satisfied with the quality, and promptly returned phone calls. He helped us save money on the project by having us do some of the painting. Project came in under his estimate. Excellent work.

I described the jobs above. People still comment regularly how wonderful my house looks, and Stuart completed it in August of 2009.

Stuart Cobb has been a contractor serving my historic neighborhood for a number of years. We spoke with many neighbors about an exterior painter and they all referred us to Stuart. Stuart is an extreme professional and is appreciate of working on historic homes. His work is detailed-oriented and he is a perfectionist. His crew is careful, clean, and respectful. I also noticed that once he was done with my job, two other neighbors hired him as well. He earned my trust and I highly recommend him for restoration and exterior painting. He is not the cheapest, but he is one of the best and worth every dollar spent. He was willing to work with me to keep within a budget and did a fantastic job that I believe will last and look beautiful for several years/

Stuart did an outstanding job. He spent three days on the job while I went to work. Each day he carefully cleared out any signs of dirt or dust on the second floor, which I greatly appreciated. By the third day all wires had been rerouted, the access way had been finished off and the drop-down panel installed. He also helped me clean out debris left by the developer whose crew had left a significant amount of garbage behind. I am thoroughly pleased with the professional job he did.

I am very happy with the quality of the service he provided, and will hire him again. I must admit I was shocked at the price. I wasn't in a position to argue, however, and the price sort of just went up as he worked. It's possible this really was a large job, so I'll just wait and see if prices escalate on other jobs before making any broad declarations. I continue to be very happy with the quality of Stuart's work, however. And his reputation for roofing is excellent.

We have a non-standard, 145-year-old house, and he could have recommended all kinds of extra work that would have made the roof straighter or more expensive materials that would have been more in keeping with the historical look of the house. Instead, he appreciated the character of the house and made a recommendation that was modest while being open to more expensive options. The work started on the date he said it would start and proceeded quickly and thoroughly. The workers maintained a neat job site and left everything clean when it was done. It took several days less time than originally estimated. Stuart communicated well about any issues that arose as the job proceeded and had a good problem-solving attitude. He asked for half the money up front for materials and did not ask for the rest until the work was completed and the site was clean.

Stewart was recommended by others in town. He stopped by to look at my problem, and immediately recommended that we simply add another pipe at the corner, rather than redesign the existing gutter to ramp at the correct angle. He left, promising to get to it between jobs as he had time. It took a few weeks but one day I came home to a note attached to my door for $123.00 (with invoice), his telephone number and the new pipe installed. It has worked perfectly in every rain storm since--no more overflowing gutters. I left a check in an envelope on my postbox, and he picked it up within a few days. Absolutely no hassles whatsoever. And great work. I used Stuart again with exactly the same experience. I needed gutter guards installed around the first floor of my house, and he simply did it while I was away at work. I came home to a note and invoice for $140, and he picked up a check the next day. What a great service!
