I closed my business 1 afternoon so they could do the basement work. I was horrified when they finished because they had hung the pipe 1 foot to 2 foot from the ceiling so when you walk through the basement you have to duck under the pipe. They also had a broomstick propped under a T joint so that the pipe coming from my bathrooms in the bar was sloped up. I didn't say anything until they finished up the rest of the job. Josh's son came in and told they were finished and wanted the balance of the money. I took him in the basement and pointed to the broomstick. His reply was that they forgot to finish that. I also pointed out that in all these pipes hanging so low in my basement there was only 1 strap holding everything up and this was beside a hole in the wall the pipe was going through. He spent about an hour more in the basement putting in about 6 straps some of which didn't even touch the pipe and getting rid of the broomstick. I went to see went he had done and on the way out of the basement I mentioned that his dad had promised me a 5 yr warranty. He went outside to call his dad and when he came back in he wrote 5 yr on my contract and initialed it. I then paid him the balance. This was September 12 of 08.
In December of 08 I had sewage water leaking in my basement from the joint that had had the broomstick handle holding it up. I called Josh he sent 2 guys over that all they did was put the pipe back together. I called him the next day and told him I wanted it fixed right so I wouldn't have this problem again. They had not glued the pipe together. We got into an argument and at 1 point I told him if he didn't make it right I was calling an attorney to which he told me to call one. I actually went to an attorney and was told I would have to pay $3500 to file suit and even though I had a very strong case because I have pictures of everything there are no guarantees that I would win or even if I do that I would get my money back.
Over the next 3 years the pipe kept coming apart in the same place as where that broomstick handle had been. I called numerous times but no one would ever return my calls. We would just put the pipe back together. This went on until Christmas night of 2011. I went in the basement and the pipe had come apart and the left side was hanging about 6 inches lower than the right side and everything was being flushed directly to my basement floor. I called the next day and the girl who answered the phone hung up on me. I called back and got a guy who told me he would have someone call me. I waited an hour and a half with no call back. When I called again I told the person that answered the phone that if I didn't get a call back I was contacting an attorney. I did finally get a call from an employee who told me that Josh said for me to go ahead and call an attorney. The next day I paid a friend $20 to put a boot on it, It took him 15 minutes and I haven't had a problem since.
I have filed 2 complaints with the BBB and 1 with the Attorney General against him. His reply was that I never called him after December 2008 which is untrue. He also replied that "If she had it fixed and it is still leaking then that means that she wants our company to come in and correct what either she or someone else messed up." I just wanted him to fix what I had paid him for in the first place. No one messed anything up but him.
Of course he keeps coming back to haunt me. This Sunday Feb. 10, 2013 the toilet in the ladies room in the bar would not flush. Plunging would not help. My brother ran a 25 foot snake that didn't help. He took the pipe apart in the basement and snaked another 25 foot that didn't help. He cut the pipe 3 foot from the wall where it goes outside and ran the snake which stopped and wouldn't go any further after 3 feet outside the building. I then called another plumber who showed me that the pipe going through the wall outside was schedule 35 and it was crushing where it was going through the wall. He ran a snake with a camera through but came to water and couldn't go any further. They came back the next morning and dug up from the vent pipe to the building and the pipe was crushed and needed to be replaced. The pipe One Call had installed had no gravel or anything to support it They tried to run the camera past that point to make sure everything else is okay but because of the way it was installed they couldn't get passed this point. Right now everything is working okay but who knows what further problems I might encounter.
Keep in mind that I am still under the 5 year warranty he gave me but didn't even bother to call him this time because he is denying he gave me a 5 year warranty that I only had a 1 year. Besides at this point I would not trust anything this company would do.
The best part is that Josh Ryan told me he is a minister and would come in and preach scriptures to me and try to talk me into coming to church. I don't know how this man can sleep at night when he cheats people the way he does. I would never recommend him to any one and tell people that the name of the company is One Call because no one would ever call them back.
That afternoon I called a different company who came out for a free estimate, they identified the problem, which was fixed with a far less invasive process, for a fraction of the cost. They also said that the clean-out cap was damaged by One Call Plumbing during their inspection. This was unavoidable due to the initial installation, but One Call Plumbing never provided us with this information during any of our conversations with us. Had the second plumbing company not told us about this, we would have never known.
This Morning I was up early and awaiting his call at 8:30am. Never got a call. I called his cell number around 10:00am, and he said they had been delayed on the first job due to unexpected problems. Ok, I can appreciate that, as somethimes that could occur. I asked when he thought they might be here, and he said they should be heading my way in about 45 minutes. Due to me being led to believe they had problems I made allowances for additional delays. By 1:00pm he still had not arrived, so I called his cell number again. He answered and said they had encountered further delays, but were on their way and 30 minutes away, as they were just leaving a nearby town. By 3:00pm still no sign of them or a phone call. I called his cell number again and it went to his recorder to leave a message. I tried this several times leaving messages some of the time. Due to the mountainous area here, I assumed he could possibly be in a cell phone deadspot, and did not leave messages each call. I tried calling several times over the next 2 hours, with no response and the answering machine each time. I also called his main business number, which is merely an answering service he hires to front end his calls and then send a page to him. It is not even possible to leave a message, as his answering service is only able to send a numeric page, and will not take a message even if you insist. The last messgae I left on his answering machine was a request for at least a curtousy call to at least let me know if he would be out before the end of the end of the day. I never got a response. I had waited ALL day for this jerk to contact me, and this involved me taking time away from work. He will never get any business from me. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM UNLESS YOU WANT DISAPPOINTMENTS AND AGGREVATION!!!
Due to the nature of my septic problem, I cannot wait forever to hear back from him. I have decided to contact the folks at Roto-Rooter to do this. I figured that a plumbing firm with a national franchise would at least have some consistent criteria for responding to their customers, as well as stand behind their work.
