They first had to remove the old steps made from railroad ties and dispose of them. they brought in an excavator to load the ties and dig the hole for the new steps and landing. then they formed and poured a concrete slab for the landing and support for the stairs. they then laid block for a retaining wall and block to support the precast concrete steps. Then they installed the precast concrete steps (7ft long and heavy). They did this by hand to avoid breaking or chipping the steps. They then covered the retaining wall in stone to match the house and then filled in around the wall and replanted grass. They did an excellent job and their workmanship was the best. All of their people were very professional.
