MONRO MUFFLER BRAKE & SVC

They forgot to put oil in the car, then refused to compensate me for towing back to shop. First they said to get a receipt from AAA for what their charges would be had I not used AAA. When I went to the trouble of getting the receipt, they refused to pay stating that it would be insurance fraud. They stated this in a roomful of customers which was embarrassing .... AAA IS NOT an insurance company - it is a service for which I PAY. Monroe Muffler should not benefit from the service I pay for because they never put oil in my car when I went for an oil change! I ended up going to corporate who told me I had to put in a claim with their insurance company. It really was a pain to deal with Monroe but I did follow through and the insurance company reimbursed me for the oil change and the tow, since then I have heard of other people who also left the shop after an oil change with no oil in the car!

They give you two windshield wipers too on top of all that. They could have more variety of oils and oil filter you could choose from. I think they only have a couple of oils there. They just have the basic one. They only have the higher end one that you could go to. I've been going to them for a number of years.

They are the least expensive place I have found in Morgantown for oil changes. I have had some other auto service work done there and their work seems reliable. They usually get things done fairly quickly and tend not to be too busy. This location has very good hours including Sunday hours, which is a great help for those who work during the week.

In short, Monro stated there were problems with the vehicle that was found to be false. The vehicle (Toyota 4runner) was taken there for a brake inspection due to the front brakes squeaking. Monro inspected the vehicle, stated one of the front calipers was not functioning and needed replaced. They also stated the brakes were "in really bad shape". The quote for replacing the brakes and caliper was $500.96. I decided not to have any service performed and later took the vehicle to a shop known to be honest (Glotfelty). After looking at the vehicle Glotfelty stated they could not reproduce any problem with any caliper and the brake pads were better than 1/2. They stated there was no reason to replace the brakes or the caliper, the squeaking was probably due to brake dust accumulation.
