STAY AWAY FORM THIS COMPANY new Ill try to keep it short the previous weekend we had a severe storm here and noticed water leaking in from the living room ceiling, anyway I had a bunch of information I had collected from a local home show in the spring of this year, so I pulled this guys flyer out of the pile because it was professional looking and gave them a call, so the man told me he was in the area and he would come by in an hour, the owner and his son arrived as promised introduced himself and his son and told me about his company. he said he had already looked around and told me right off the bat I needed a complete new roof. Not being a stranger to the trades I began to wonder because he had not been on the roof or in the attic yet, so he took me outside and started pointing out from the ground mind you (the front side of my house is about 15 ft high to the roof) I had asked him if he needed access to the roof or the attic said he did not need to because he could see what he needed to see from the ground, kept telling the shingles were bad and the wood underlay was rotted, the ridge vent was bad and so on. He then showed me a flyer of the product he sells that is a 50 year shingle and a lifetime warranty on the material and labor and stated that he is the only dealer for this product within 100 miles of where I live, so then after the sales pitch he pops the question "how much do YOU this this product would cost" well 1st of all i'm not a roofer that's why I called these guys, so I said prob.about $10,000.00 he said your close total cost of the job would be about $12,000.00 and that depends on if we don't find any other issues, well I did tell him the gutters also needed to be replaced they leak, so I asked how much more for that he said it would prob. be another $3,000.00 total cost about $15,000.00 . so I told him I would need to discuss this with my wife and make some calls to the bank, so I asked him to give me an estimate in writing RED FLAG, he said we do not do it that way, we write a number on a card and then we will get into that when we start writing contracts.so I thanked him for his time and told him I would be in touch later, It was then I came in and jumped on Angie's list and found this guys review, I know I should have checked here first, but I was In panic mode, I had also spoke to a friend of mine that evening and this company had done a remodel for him some years ago and he was also very UNHAPPY with the work and do not use this company for any reason. And by the way I found another contractor on the list that I used and fixed my leak for 30.00 thank you. It's companies like this that give the rest of the trades a bad name.

This guy is bad. We met with him for an estimate and it just was not professional and his estimate was very high. He's all about the sales pitch and discrediting other roofing companies and their methods. If I am going to make such a large investment into home repairs, I would atleast like to feel comfortable with the company I have chosen.

AVOID THIS GUY! I just joined Angie's List and thought I should post this to alert others not to use Burch. The guy arrived to give a quote. Stood up on a little hill in our yard and looked at the roof from there. Started talking about is "magic" shingles- that these were very special shingles - and yes, he actually called them "magic shingles" - then he showed me a board of them in several different colors. They were basic asphalt shingles! He tried to talk up how these shingles rode out all kind of hurricanes down in Florida and that he has done a lot of work down there. He did not even measure the roof. Then he says, "So, what do you think it would cost for a roof to be done with these awesome shingles?" That ticked me off right there. I am not into playing a guessing game when I anticipated a professional quote. I said I had no idea - and he then quoted $20,000! This is not a large house. I knew I was being played. Then, in order to just get him out of the house, as I was not very comfortable with him, I said I would discuss his quote with the others involved, and he immediately got upset and basically said it was only good for right there and then stormed out. I ended up getting the roof replaced with an excellent outfit, STONE HOUSE CONSTRUCTION, for MUCH, MUCH, MUCH less.

showed up close to the scheduled time, but smelled like alcohol. Decided that I needed a brand new roof the instant he looked at it, even though I only wanted his opinion on a small patch job. Told me repeatedly that anything less than a completely new roof (the house is only 12 years old) would be a waste of money and that I might as well throw my money in the woods. Also told me that I should get a new roof right away because the price of shingles was only going to get higher.

See above. No show on scheduled appointment, and no follow-up after I called.
