My mother's house was flooded in June of 2012. It was inspected by FEMA and she was advised that if she was going to stay in the house that it would need to  elevated in case another flood occurred. They stated her insurance and assistance from FEMA would cover the majority of the cost. So, FEMA became a third party in the case. We hired Advantage Basement based off good reviews and my own personal experience. Work started in June 2013. They estimated a total of 6 weeks to complete the job but because of bad weather that summer it took about 10 weeks. The first problem were the railings they placed on the ramps. The railings are too high and my mom has a difficult time getting a good grip resulting in a number of falls over the last few months. Luckily, she has not broken a hip or anything else. The biggest issue has been with paying this company. They were initially paid $20,000 at the start of the job, $15,000 from insurance and FEMA and $5000 out of my mom's savings. After completion of the job FEMA required documentation and pictures of all the work that was done from Advantage Basement in order to release the rest of their payment. For some reason, they kept delaying these requirements resulting in a delay in the release in the rest of the funds. It has gotten to the point that they (Advantage Basement) threatened to sue my mom, who is the victim in all of this, for non-payment. A certain Ms. Barbara from Advantage even called my mom a "horrible person for not fulfilling her obligations" and threatened her with jail time over the phone. Needless to say, my 71 year old mom did not take this well and had a nervous breakdown. We went ahead and paid them to stop their threat of a law suit and will just wait for the funds from FEMA.
Response from Advantage Basement & Foundation Repair LLC
"A contract was made and entered into between Advantage Basement and Foundation Repair LLC and Precilla Farmularcano. The contract stated as all our contracts do that the balance of job is due at completion. Advantage had no agreement or connection with FEMA. The contracted balance price of $19,332.00 was due at completion which was August 7, 2014.After 30 days an invoice was sent to [Member name removed] requesting payment. She stated she was waiting for FEMA to submit their payment to her. Pictures and documentation were [Member name removed]'s responsibility to FEMA, but in order to hasten payment we sent one of our project managers several times at our expense to secure the needed documentation. Advantage Basement installed a ramp at the rear of the home at the request of [Member name removed]. This ramp was not included in the original contract. The ramp was installed as an act of kindness to her, and at an additional cost of $2000.00 to Advantage Basement, and at NO COST to her. Inside hand rails were not included as this was at great expense to us and to our understanding was to be used occasionally for luggage transport. New steps were installed at the same time at the front of the home to be used for entry. Since payment was still not received a Mechanic's Lien was filed on November 5, 2014. Payment was finally received December 29, 2014. It is unfortunate that requesting payment after 5 months would lead to fraudulent statements and misrepresenting what was said and done."

So far, I'd say that it went excellently.  I wasn't home during the time of the work, but my husband kept me updated on their progress.  The basement has been waterproofed for just over a month and there is no water leaking in from the location they serviced.  Unfortunately, perhaps due to the jack-hammering, etc, a small 1 ft area just past where they installed the drain has started to leak.  It is minor and Advantage said that they will come back out to fix it as soon as they can fit it in.  They went above and beyond when a few things popped up that weren't expected (a piece of our foundation was missing!) and they fixed it as they went.  They moved the water heater on their own whereas another company we got a bid from said that we'd have to hire a plumber to do it!  They also moved our heavy concrete sink to access the area on their own, when again, another company added that as a separate expense.  They cleaned up the area after they left and even swept up my garage as well.  Great experience!

They could have lied to me but did not. They told me how to fix it myself.  They are awesome.

Their price was really reasonably.  They were really nice and honest.  They were quick while performing the job.  They guy who performed the work was fine.  I love the work they did on the porches.  I have recommended them to people.  I would use them again in the future.

I worried about my house falling down while they were working.....but I worried for nothing.   They braced up the foundation prior to beginning their work.   They brought in a caterpillar and removed my dirt and wall.   They brought in gravel, cement block, many bags of cement and glass windows.  They worked quietly, friendly and efficiently.   They always asked me where they could put their equipment and supplies.   They were very respectful and professional.  They cleaned up any and all debris.

The workers even showed up and did a complete day's of work when it was snowing.   Yikes!

This company's personnel know and understand what they are doing.   They do a first-rate job.   I would recommend them to anyone.
